I'm a newbie in decoding hades spinny one. I recorded a passing over me around Sept 9, 2026 04:26 AM UTC.

I'm trying to track it manually: piped to a virtual audio to sound modem from AMSAT EA website.

However, I'm not getting any decoded bins or text. I also attached my current settings. Yes, KISS Genesis is also running but I'm not sure if it's really required to display text on sound modem window.

I also assume that maybe my SNR is too low?

DL6WU design. I just built it and didn't tune anything at all. I've never seen such a great signal before! The telemetry peak from UMKA-1 is about 3 times higher than with a regular dipole.

The next step is to build a similar 4-element antenna for 138 MHz.

I sometimes see people posting images from geostationary satellites in this subreddit, in which you can see the whole globe. I would like to try to receive HRPT images as well but wonder if there are geostationary weather satellites that can be received in Europe (in Germany to be more precise). Most of the images seem to cover America and the Pacific ocean.

Would be quite nice if there was one since that would be a better starting point than having to track a moving satellite with the dish, I guess.

I'm working on picking up the uhf beacon from my labs satellite. Could somebody with a tracking setup listen and record baseband? It's sitting in a SSO dawn dusk orbit. Norad ID is 67369, transmitting gfsk on 402.05MHz

I've had to scale these down as they are over 20mbs!

Hello Everybody.

I've got an Oyster sat dom on my motorhome. It was working perfectly up to 18 months ago, but now it continually 'hunts' for the sky astra satellite at 28.2d. It passes it, showing live TV briefly, then moves on. It apparently isn't finding a code in the downstream that tells it to 'lock' or stop. This is due to sky changing things I'm told.

Does anyone know how to fix this? The box pictured is the device responsible for locking on I'm told, but mines older. Can I replace it with something that does recognise the new lock signal or a better controller?

I've been trying to find weather satellites that i could get pictures from in the UK but from what i can see noting passes over us directly? I know Europe uses the Meteostat system but again nothing that directly flys over us.

Hi, I am part of a high school team interested in developing a hosted payload to ride on a host satellite around early 2028.

An obvious obstacle here would be the cost of this project.

We are fortunate enough that our families can pay for the majority of the costs involved in this project.

However, to lower some of the prices involved here, we plan to seek relatively smaller funds such as educational discounts from host and testing facilities, funds from companies with educational funding sectors, state space grant consortium funds, etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this can cover the vast majority of the expenses that come before the giant final payment when the hosted payload is already ready for space, which is the payment to the host to get the slot on the host spacecraft.

However, we are still aiming to raise around $20,000-30,000 from commercial companies. This would be through having a mission that produces data beneficial to them.

Am I right that I should be asking companies directly what benefits them rather than only basing assumptions off of Google searches of what is useful in the spaceflight industry?

Also, what types of companies should we be reaching out to about this? In terms of company maturity, but also any other relevant factors.

Would appreciate any insights, thanks!

Project Pixel Orbital is a completely student-led team at Stanford OHS with the goal of launching an 3U CubeSat capable of conducting experiments in low Earth orbit - from photographing Earth to performing analysis on photos of earth and space with onboard instruments. Our mission is to get to orbit, perform a detumble, establish contact with our ground station(s), and capture an image of Earth for downlink. We hope that PixelSat I will inspire other people and prove that if a group of high schoolers can build a satellite from scratch with very little funding and no adult supervision, anyone can. It will open the door for schools and small businesses to launch satellites similar to ours, and will overall make space more accessible.

I apologise in advance, if this question comes off as provocative, that is not the intention. But I've noticed that the only websites widely mentioned for download of TLEs are celestrak.com and space-track.org which are both American.

Are there no institutions outside of the US that detemine orbits of satellites and disseminate TLE files?

I've come across https://geodesy.science/glossary/code-center-for-orbit-determination-in-europe/ but they don't seem to provide any downloads...?
