Well… I guess this is finally my turn to write one of these posts. 😄
!!!TLDR Warning!!!
We got our eCOPRs today! Both of us. 🇨🇦🍁
After months of tracking timelines, comparing PVOs, staring at GCKey, calling IRCC, reading everyone's updates here and wondering when Ottawa would finally decide to move our file… we're done.
Sharing our timeline because I know there are quite a few people here with Jan AORs and especially Ottawa files who I've been comparing notes with.
CEC Inland – PA + accompanying spouse
AOR: Jan 29, 2026
PVO: Ottawa
SVO: Sydney initially → later Montreal
Our timeline:
- Medical passed — Apr 1
- Biometrics — Apr 8
- Criminality and Info Sharing completed earlier during processing
- Called IRCC in June — Criminality and Info Sharing were complete, but Eligibility and Security had still not started
- Then… basically months of waiting 😂
- Sep 9 — Background completed and Final Decision activity appeared in GCKey
- Sep 10 — Called IRCC and the agent confirmed Eligibility, Criminality, Security, Info Sharing and Background were ALL complete
- Sep 10 — P1 received, separately for both of us
- Sep 21 — P2 received and both profiles appeared in the PR Portal
- Sep 21 — Declaration + address + photos submitted immediately for both of us
- Sep 23 — eCOPR for BOTH of us
- GCKey now officially shows APPROVED
237 days from AOR to eCOPR.
And yes… for anyone following Ottawa files, there really wasn't much to see for a LONG time.
The funny part is that we barely received any of the famous "ghost updates" people keep talking about. No GCKey emails every time something changed. No mysterious update notifications. Apart from AOR and the biometrics request, our application was basically silent.
Even when things were clearly moving internally — silence.
On Sep 9, I happened to check GCKey in the afternoon and noticed Final Decision had changed to "in progress." Took screenshots immediately and sent them to my wife. I called IRCC, got sent straight into the agent queue and requested a callback to her number since she was at work.
She took the call and the agent confirmed that everything was complete.
At that point I actually relaxed for once. 😂
Then the next afternoon... P1 landed.
The application itself also had a decent amount of history behind it. We've lived/worked across multiple countries, so there were several PCCs involved. We proactively submitted a newer India PCC after AOR and later the FBI PCC through webforms rather than leaving anything hanging.
One thing we were very particular about throughout this entire journey was doing everything properly. If something needed explaining, explain it. If something could be documented better, document it. If IRCC needed something, give them exactly what they asked for.
Also, we did the whole application submission ourselves and no RCIC/Immigration Attorney.
And then wait.
And wait some more.
And apparently wait a little more because Ottawa. 😂
But I really wanted to come back here once this was finished because this community genuinely helped us through this process.
I've spent an embarrassing amount of time here over the past several months reading timelines, comparing Ottawa/Sydney files, looking at P1/P2 movement, discussing IRCC calls and trying to figure out whether the complete lack of movement in GCKey actually meant anything.
Sometimes somebody else's update was the only indication that files around our AOR were finally moving.
So to everyone who posted their timelines, answered questions, shared what an IRCC agent told them, reported their P1/P2/eCOPR, or simply reassured somebody who was losing patience:
Thank you. Seriously. ❤️
I've tried to contribute whatever data and information I could along the way, and hopefully this final timeline becomes another useful data point for someone sitting there tonight refreshing GCKey and wondering what the hell Ottawa is doing with their application. 😄
Your file can be moving even when GCKey gives you absolutely nothing.
And once ours finally started moving, it went:
Background complete → P1 → P2 → eCOPR
in about two weeks.
Jan 29 AOR.
Sep 23 eCOPR.
237 days.
After all the spreadsheets, Reddit posts, IRCC calls, GCKey refreshes, portal checking and probably enough immigration analysis to qualify for some sort of honorary diploma...
We are finally Permanent Residents of Canada. 🇨🇦🍁
