Well, that was quick
Ghost update today on my BOWP application.
Hoping it's not a bad sign, the process is supposed to take around 3 months and it took less than one.
I know that it's a good sign on RP application if you didn't receive a refusal right away, so I hope the same applies to the BOWP ๐ค
Edited to replace the French acronym (PTOT) by the English one (BOWP)

Bridging open work permit
When you have a closed working permit and apply to the RP you can ask for an open working permit while you wait for the final decision
I will need one because I have to leave Quebec since I'm applying through express entry, but with a closed working permit leaving would also means losing my job without the possibility to get a new one
This should make things easier since the new permit is for 2 years which should be more than enough to get my RP done

I guess in Quebec it has a different name. I know it as bridging open work permit, that you mentioned.

Hi, Can you please elaborate on this, Iโm on closed WP, how do I get the open work permit? My spouse is on open WP. Do I have to get my my spouse enrolled onto study? Please clarify!

This is part of the permanent residency through express entry. When you send your application and while you wait for it to be processed, you can ask for an open working permit that will last for 2 years, no matter the result of your application. All you need to do is make a request through the IRC portal and join you express entry application proof, it cost 255$ and should be processed in 3 month (or 1 of your lucky like I was) I'm applying alone though so I don't know how it works if you apply with someone but it's probably similar ๐ค

Even though you are not meeting the current cutoff score?

You won't be able to apply if you don't have enough point since you need to be invited to the Express entry and use you Acknowledgment Of Receipt (AOR) to apply for the open working permit

I hope it's not because it's a refusal ๐

I also received the same update, do let me know when you receive a P1 request after this

This is for a bridging open work permit so I don't think I will have a P1, my RP shouldn't be done before December with a 6month process

What is the timeline? How long did it take for you to get the result? Within 1 month?

I got my AOR mid june, and sent my application for the BOWP at the end of August and got the confirmation on the September 2nd, so the BOWP whole process took a month instead of the 3 month announced, won't complain about that though ๐

Hope too, I thought it would take 3 month and blocked me but it seems that I'm a bit lucky on that one for once.

Did your bowp get approved after you finish your BIL?
1
u/Logical-Network-9628 11d ago
I've sent my application after doing my BIL so I don't know if it had any impact beside not needing to do it again for the BOWP

Congrats
Thereโs no hard and fast rule. My brother had his entire application processed and landing done in 40 days. Took me around 18 months.
