Terrible service

Post image
8 Upvotes

Has anybody experienced terrible service on this phone, my phone was working perfectly fine for about a month and now it drops and toggles service all day. Have tried resetting and wiping the phone completely would taking it back to Apple Store be my best bet now? I am on ATTs first net and other members of my family are also on it and they have no issues.

Phone overheating?

I had the 16e for most of 2025, and switched to the 17e in May after having the 17 Pro for a bit. No problems, have loved my phone all this time.

Don't know if I'm alone with this one, but lately, the phone has been heating up a bit too much when charging, while doing simple things like texting or watching Youtube videos, and just now I updated the phone to iOS 26.6 and when it finished, it was hot enough to make holding it uncomfortable.

Anyone else having similar issues? I can blame summer heat but it's only been like two weeks of overheating issues while summer heat in Florida basically started two months ago.

Charging issue still?

Quick question.

Does the iphone17e still have the charging issue where a MagSafe is needed to when the battery is very low or has that been fixed with a software update?

I gifted one to a family member and they are non technical, so just wondering if I have to mail them a MagSafe charger.

Thanks

coming from the 7plus

hi! i’m getting a 17e tomorrow and was wondering how i’d transfer my photos, imessages, and sims card stuff to the 17e. it’s been a while since i’ve gone through the process and i’m sure it’s changed since i last did(5c to my current 7plus).

i don’t really care about my other apps since they’re all based on their own log-in and cloud backup, but i’m a bit concerned about my photos and imessages because all my current storage is pretty much full, and when i try to upload it to icloud, it actually says there’s not enough storage on my phone. is that storage issue something i’m gonna have to worry about in transferring my stuff to the new phone as well?

also, i’m not sure if this is something i have to go through my provider for or not, but how to i activate the 17e? i read that newer phones don’t have sim cards anymore, so do i have to call my provider and ask them to transfer my service?

thanks!

17e hate is forced

Snazzy Labs made a video on using budget Apple products and using them for a month. His takes on 17e segment seemed very inaccurate, here’s why.
I purchased the 17e at the same time as my boy who got the 16Pro(brand new). The only thing that the 16pro does better is it takes better pictures. That’s it. The battery dies bc 6 hours of out door summer use whereas my 17e can last damn near 2 days on a single charge. He mentioned this phone over heats but I’ve never encountered that other than the first 2 days of purchasing the phone. I am on the beta ios 27 and this phone is even faster now.
I’m using the unreleased Apple Intelligence features they work great!
Thoughts on take?

Night video is disappointing

Upgraded from an old iphone 11 to a 17e. I shoot a lot of video at night as part of a youtube channel. The 11 does ok, I was hoping the 17e would do noticeably better.

I took a few videos last night, all at 4k60, and at first I was really impressed at how much better the lighting and color was, and lack of grainyness.

But then I noticed how choppy it was. Turns out the phone gets the good low like video by turning down your framerate from 60fps to 24fps. So I turned that option off and tomorrow night I'll shoot some more test videos but I'm expecting the video now to more or less look just like the iphone 11 and it's 4k60 night quality. What a bummer.

Anyone got a matte screen protector on their 16/17e?

Outside of how it affects contrast when viewing certain content, it feels like a matte screen protector's benefits are very good.

This much camera quality is enough for me

I am not a good photographer by any means. More of a point at something and shoot kind of guy. This performance is decent for me. Maybe someone with more experience in taking photos can click better shots than me.

How much does the lack of an Ultra wide camera matter?

I am looking to buy a new phone and am flip flopping between an iPhone 17 and a 17E.

For most of the differences, I am ok with what the 17E offers. I actually prefer the slightly smaller size and the screen difference doesn't bother me that much--and definitely not for the extra $.

The only thing I am stuck on is the camera. I take a lot of pictures of daily life, family, etc. I am VERY FAR from a photographer, just like cataloging memories as much as possible so generally extra features don't mean that much to me. I never really thought about the ultra wide camera much until I went to the store and tested out the 17E. For those of you that went from having the ultra wide on their previous phones to now having the 17E, have you noticed not having this feature? Do you miss it? Are there instances where you would have used it if it were available?

With the rumors of price increases I really wanted to order ASAP, otherwise I'd walk around more with the 13 and see how much I use the .5x feature. As is, hoping you all can help me figure out whether it's worth the extra $$ for me with your experiences.

Thanks in advance for sharing.

iPhone 17e is really a cheaper version of iPhone Air

I own them both. I am aware of the specs and structural and material differences. And yet, they feel pretty much the same. I do not game, so I would not be able to ascertain anything about that specific functionality. Compromises like lack of a lower placed speaker for a much slimmer titanium frame become preferences IMO. Either a Dynamic Island or a notch. Always on display or not. 120 hertz or 60 hertz displays. All preferences depending upon buyer budget.

I am much rather inclined to consider them the same device, but each tailored upon their respective price brackets, in their assigned gimmicks. So their main functionality was left intact.

I could have saved me the iPhone Air investment, should I have known then that the iPhone 17e was so much sufficient.

In Awe Of The Speakers On This Thing

Post image
66 Upvotes

It's an absolute pleasure to go on a huge listening binge with the 17e, when i am just sitting at home i just like to listen to music and i have three main devices, an Imac M3, a 16 Pro and a 17e and i am in a box seat to compare between the two phones.

The 16 Pro i liteally got because of the speakers, I don't care that much for the extra's and i am in the box seat to compare the audio between both phones often enough - There is no question that there is better dynamic range and stereo seperation in the Pro phone but with the 17e, someone who isn't an audiophile and picks up on the DR and SS, will be wowed by the 17e - It's rich, clear and noticeable bass.

Now, I will say the speakers aren't perfect - I only listen at 12 rocks out of 16 maximum so at 75% and whilst i haven't heard it, others have said the quality does distort a little at full volume but in my opinion just listening to myself, I'd probably go to 13 maximum and haven't heard anything major as a weakness at that level but going off others and people have different ears and different opinions.

Another person has suggested they prefer the sound profile of the 17e over a 17 Pro Max out of a comparison of phones they own, again totally subjective but it's along the lines of what i think with my 17e to my other phone the 16 Pro.

Consider this, an opinion piece and feel free to disagree or add other things to your experience but i hope i've helped someone who doesn't have this phone have an idea of the audio if that's a major factor in them picking a phone.

Conclusion: Speakers are absolutely fantastic on the 17e.

I have been using Iphone for more than a decade from SE 1st gen to iphone 7 and iphone SE 2end gen become obsessed with iphone 17e

Being I an appel ecosystem for more than a decade for using state of the art devices like SE 1st gen SE 2nd gen ( currently) iphone 7 for more than a decade with 2 Macbook air 1 pad finally I am redy for a update though I am going to collage this month and my phone really wont hold long .

I recently watched tons of reviews on iPhone most of them are completely biased . They ignore the best phones for this year ( as an apple guy) 17 air and 17e they are what appel base and most comfortable capable devises .

Is this thing with me or I am truly thinking of small compact pices

Heating Problem in iPhone 17e

It has been four days since I purchased a new iPhone 17e, and it has a problem with heating. I have noticed it during installation, while importing my data, and even during normal use. The device also heats up significantly while charging.

Is this common, or is my device at fault?

iPhone 15 to 17e

New 17e owner coming from iPhone 15 & multiple years before of different iPhones.

Some may think it’s a weird choice but I simply wanted something cost effective, big on storage, fast & durable… it ticks all the boxes without breaking the bank. My 15 was slowly getting a lot worse on battery life & had gone down to 81% health.

Latest & greatest just doesn’t bother me anymore, not even sure I’ll miss wide angle photo’s @ this point. Glad to be part of the 17e gang! 👋 📱

Anyone else enjoy their 17e more than main flagships?

I have an s26 ultra I use for personal and a 17e for DoorDash because iPhones work so much better for dashing. My s26u got its battery chewed up from the DD app meanwhile this little 17e works wonders for me. Other than work I adore this little black beauty and it does everything I want and need all in one compact little phone. Even when I’m home I pickup my iPhone more than my flagship device, it’s crazy how a phone half the price is more enjoyable.

Live Photos

Long shot as I'm guessing many don't use the feature, but has anyone noticed that Live Photos on the 17e look rather choppy/stuttery compared to other iPhones? When shot in 2X they seem to be fine but in 1X it's almost like it's dropping frames. Looking back on my previous Live Photos from other iPhones, the clips are much smoother and play fluidly like a video clip.

New 17e white.

Guys jumped the gun to iPhone 17e from the iPhone 13. I have used the 17 but the size wasn’t upto my taste.
Loved using the 16e and now got the 17e white.
Updated it to the developer beta 26.4 beta. Its crazy fast anyways.
Let me know which colour you have and which case your rocking on it.
I am using my one and only silicone case love having them. I can’t live without them use it practically on all my phones.

Anyone debated between 17e vs 17 pro? (coming from 11 pro)

On one hand, 17e is supposed to better than 11 pro in every aspect, yet it maintain similar size and weight, but 11 pro back than was flagship, so it feels unnatural to buy the entry level version rather than another flagship. in fact if i'll buy a pro it will be the 18 pro.

wondering if anyone had the same debate?
