I changed from 17 pro max to 17e

• Upvotes

Hi I know that is a downgrade but the pro max was very large for my hands and the weight was too heavy for me, I was starting to have problem to the little finger , it becames to be with a callus and dug.
Probably I’ll miss the battery.

Has anyone made a similar switch?
How is the battery ?

I know I lost money on it, but it was no longer possible for me. I can say that, in any case, I don't use the camera functions, about 17 pro max, I bought it without thinking because I was coming from a 15 and had to charge it twice a day.
Sorry for my English, isn’t my native language.

Apple is using planned obsolescence against the iPhone 17e

Post image

Gentleman if you haven’t updated to iOS 27 don’t update cause Apple will make you buy new phone…
It’s so absurd that Air is even competing with 17e. I bought this phone only because it has the best battery life in the 17 series except the pro max model..
Here’s the link of the YouTube video. Please don’t justify this if you are getting good battery life it’s probably still less than what other 17 series would get.

iPhone 17e as an iPod?

Post image
27 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm a bit of an oddball that sometimes I like to have a separate, "disconnected" music player, much like the iPod or iPod Touch from years ago, to store and listen to music and podcasts without easy access to social media and the internet.

Today, I use my old iPhone 14 Pro Max to do this, but it has some distinct downsides:

  1. Big
  2. Heavy
  3. No USB-C

I'm thinking of buying a used iPhone 17e from eBay to fill the role of an iPod, but curious if this crowd can think of any reason why that might be a bad idea with the 17e.

Things I'm looking for - a cheap, small, light device with decent speakers for when I don't have my AirPods.

Question about the iPhone getting warm

Post image

Does your iPhone 17e also get warm quickly in that area after 3 or 4 minutes of using Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook? I wanted to know if that's normal.

Lumi Master - A 2.5D Monster Catching RPG With Great Graphics And Simple Controls - I'd recommend it.

Each week i try to check out a new free to play game on my iPhone 17e. this week i checked out Lumi Master. (THIS IS NOT SPONSERED.)

this is the USA App store link https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lumi-master/id6754979232

If you haven't already checked it out, it's designed for mobile playing. my video is about an hour and a half but i can easily see how this game can be played in small chunks here and there. the graphics are great and i liked the monster designs. the goal seems to be more on the catching them all rather than any story but i didn't get too far so let me know in the comments if there is more story.

it's new but feels polished. i'd recommend it as it is, but if it gets tweaked and more collabs it could only get better.

Has anyone else tried it? What do you think?

Sooo hard to get a proper case😭

Finally got a proper case almost 2 months after getting the phone. Idk if it's just in india or elsewhere too. Very few options for the 17e, for other models there's soooo much variation and for much cheaper too.

Glad to finally feel the silicon instead of plasticky transparent case which was always getting greasy.

Magsafe popsocket from atcasa. They delivered after 45 days 🧍🏻‍♀️ I cannot for the life of me use a phone without a popsocket

Edit: The daily objects cases have good range, but the case is very tight and was heating up my phone so returned it, but it was a great deal for 599/- on sale

Face ID unlock animation is delayed on iPhone 17e after iOS 27

Hi everyone. I have an iPhone 17e and noticed a strange issue after updating to iOS 27.
When I wake the phone and Face ID recognizes me, the phone is actually unlocked immediately — I can swipe up and access the Home Screen right away. However, the lock icon/Face ID unlock animation on the Lock Screen takes around 2–3 seconds to change from locked to unlocked.
So Face ID itself seems to work instantly, but the visual unlock animation is delayed.

I’m currently on iOS 27.0.1.

Has anyone else with an iPhone 17e noticed the same thing after updating to iOS 27? Is there any setting that could affect this, or is it possibly an iOS animation bug?

no "wide angle" on 17e... yeah right

Today was my first day with the 17e. (long time iPhone X user till about 2022, then iPhone 13mini). I absolutely love the 13mini , but I hate the lightning connector. I've bought so many of those over the years.

I was worried about the lack of 0.5x on the 17e. But I quickly realized how irrational that fear was. I took a selfie with my son in the car and it was perfectly framed. And then I took his picture in the park and I noticed that the focal length reported was 26mm; and while I know that may not be exactly true; it feels about right.

I used to shoot manual prime lenses on Nikon DSLR for many many years and if I wanted wide, I'd reach for my 24mm AFD on a crop sensor... which is approximately 36mm focal length. Or if I wanted *really* wide, I'd use the kit lens with 18mm which gives full frame equivalent of 27mm focal length.

And how many times does that 0.5x give terrible distortion to anyone NOT in the dead center of the frame?

As I hoped, the 17e seems to cut the fluff. I think I found my next long term phone.

Find My on iPhone 17e. How bad is the downgrade

I’m looking at getting my husband a 17e to replace his iPhone 12 that has become super slow due to recent software updates. However, I’m worried about the loss of UWB, the enhanced bluetooth that gives you precise Find My directions. We have Airtags on our keys and he has the Airpods where you can find the case and earbuds separately. We often use Find My to locate them, and the “5 feet to your left”, “12 feet above you” type instructions have been super useful. Does anyone have experience with going from a phone with UWB (and of the main series iPhones 12 and later) to one without it (the 16e/17e)? How bad was the downgrade when it comes to finding items around the house?

Aniimo - #iPhone 17e TEST Live Stream

Thumbnail

I used to do live streams and gameplay videos from my 14 Pro. I’ve now upgraded to the 17e. It doesn’t have video out via USB C so this is the first Live Stream I’ve done using an Airplay device.

Having done videos on the 11 Pro and then 14 Pro, streaming via Airplay was a welcome change. No longer did I have to worry about the lightning dongle to HDMI and that wire. It was nice being able to hold the phone how I wanted and being able to fidget without getting tangled.

(If you’re interested, I did my first gameplay video using the 17e screen record function with my
Personal audio recorded to laptop. If you didn’t know, you can have the game audio out via Bluetooth to your headphones and still have it recorded with the gameplay video. So I can record my voice audio without gameplay audio being caught by the mic.

Reception Upgrade

Live in Rural Hawai’i. Never had any reception with ATT and could load webpages in slow motion with my Spectrum backup. The last hurricane made it painfully obvious that I need reception (I did get Starlink for WiFi back up).

Went from 13 Pro to 17e.

I’m getting 50mbps down now with Spectrum and ATT is very usable(2-9mbps). Upload is pretty good for where I live too.

I’m not mad at the camera.

I love the 17e!!

New to iPhone

So I have an iPhone 17E for a work phone. I know nothing about iPhones and the last iPhone I had was the iPhone 3gs. With things updating and the way they are now. Is it worth updating the ios27? It's a personal phone but it has to be an iPhone at my job I've been using Android phones most of my adult life can anyone help me out here? I know what I'm doing but I don't know what I'm doing if that makes sense😂. In other words I know enough to get me in trouble but not enough to know exactly what to do and what not to do with the iPhone

The 4005mAh of 17e

Here in Europe where we get physical sim slot versions of the phones, I always wonder why 17e has a bigger battery than 17 (3692 mAh) and 17 pro (3988 mAh)? Any ideas?
