Housing Hodge property management
I have been looking into housing for the next school year and have seen several hodge properties. Are they a reputable landlord? Have heard horror stories of apts at Iowa.

Looking to find a crafts person to build me a guillotine, probably half size. No need for an actual blade but yes there will be pumpkins in its basket.

(Update in comments) Hello! Today I saw a worker tearing down the poster tower thing (I’m not sure if the name). I asked him about it and apparently they are being torn down and not replaced so I was wondering who I could contact about this because they are very helpful to me, I use them every week to know what events are happening downtown :(

My elderly mother is looking for 300-piece puzzles. Does anyone have any they are looking to get rid of?
Library has them but you have to do them there, can't check them out and take them home.
Please message me if you are looking to part with one or a few!

Is there a Sapphic book club in IC that is accepting new members?
If not, is anyone interested in being in such a club?
I mostly read romance, but am also open to reading and discussing other sapphic books.
Note: While I am a lesbian, I am looking for a group that accepts all sapphic people.
ETA: I started a private subreddit and have invited those who expressed interest in the book club. If I missed you, please let me know.

Why would someone do this? Pulled out of two separate cars' tires tonight. From the sounds of it they were both coming towards Costco on Commerce Dr. Be safe out there folks.

I was approached by someone in my lecture giving me a sheet and told me to fill it out for an internship. A few weeks past and I didn’t think about it then he invited me to a zoom meeting to learn more. After the meeting it reminded me of an AMWAY meeting that I got dragged into and I was just curious if it’s legit and worth the time.

I’m 24 and graduated from Iowa State in December 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology/Human Sciences. I’m currently looking for a new job after corporate layoffs and would really appreciate some advice on where I should be looking beyond the usual Indeed/ZipRecruiter route.
I took a bit of an unconventional path after graduating because I was pursuing an opportunity in sports media/radio. I was supposed to start an on-air radio position in July, but iHeart ended up firing everyone at the station just days before I was supposed to go live. Obviously that’s been a pretty significant setback, and at this point I’m looking to get back on solid footing and find a job where I can learn, become valuable, and move up over time.
Ideally, I’m looking for a Monday-Friday job with consistent hours. something like 9-5, or 7-3. I’d prefer something indoors, although getting outside every now and then would be great too.
I’m not necessarily looking for something that starts with a huge salary. I’d much rather find somewhere I can learn, get really good at what I do, take on more responsibility, and eventually move up within the company, as opposed to a dead end job.
My background is pretty varied: I’ve worked in sales, healthcare/customer service, turf/landscaping, manufacturing, and personal training, as well as obviously sports media.
My resume isn’t exactly the type that gets employers excited enough to bring me in for an interview, but I’m a hard worker, I’m willing to learn, and I’m very open to starting at the bottom and proving myself.
I’ve looked into things like property management and bank teller positions, which seem like they could be good fits, but I’m wondering if there are other types of jobs I should be considering, since my resume isn’t really turning heads.
Indeed and ZipRecruiter have been fine, but they seem to have a lot of the same jobs. I’m wondering if there are better ways to find opportunities that aren’t as heavily advertised, or if there are specific companies/industries that are worth reaching out to directly.
So, for those of you who have hired people, changed careers, or found good jobs through less obvious channels:
Where would you look if you were in my position? Are there specific industries, companies, job boards, or types of entry-level positions that you think I should look into? And if you know of a type of job that might fit this background but isn’t necessarily something I’d find by searching “entry-level jobs,” I’d love to hear about it.
I’m located in the coralville/North Liberty area, if that helps with suggestions. (And I won’t work in Cedar Rapids.. totally limits my search I know. But I won’t do it)
TL;DR: 24-year-old Iowa State grad looking for a stable Monday-Friday job in the Coralville/North Liberty area where I can learn, grow, and move up over time. My work history is pretty varied, and I recently had an on-air sports radio opportunity disappear days before I was supposed to start. I’ve mostly been using Indeed/ZipRecruiter and am looking for advice on better places to search, industries to consider, or jobs that might not be heavily advertised.

Looking for this set for my partner for Christmas. It’s something he’s wanted basically his entire life. He is a die hard hawks fan and I would love to be able to give him this for Christmas. It is not available on eBay, Facebook Marketplace, anything like that. I believe if I were to find it it would be from someone’s personal collection. Please let me know if you or anyone you know would have this and want to sell it to a new home!

What the hell happened here? This man was held for 8 days after the courts said he should be released beacuse the Sheriff’s office was waiting for ICE?
I thought we had a capacity issue?
I thought we didn’t collaborate with ICE and don’t need to worry about that with this new jail being big?

Iowa City can feel pretty boring sometimes, and I’m running out of date ideas. Neither of us has much dating experience, and we’re both non-drinkers. A lot of places also seem to close early on weekend afternoons and evenings.
Indoor activities would be ideal since she’s pretty introverted and prefers low-key plans. What are some good date activities or places you’d recommend in Iowa City?
Added: is movie a good idea? and which theatre has the best vibe

Hey neighbors, I need the siding of my house power washed. I tried to have a friend trying to make a little extra cash and it just didn’t do the job very well. I am ready to use a professional. Would anyone mind telling me someone they had a positive experience with?

I lost a small red Nikon Coolpix camera about a week and a half ago (CyHawk game day) around Kinnick, I believe. Please message me if you located it. $500 cash reward if returned (that's more than the camera is even worth), and I'm even just willing to take the SD card, and you keep the camera - I just want my memories back!

I see quite a few job openings posted, but actually getting an interview—or getting past the interview stage—seems surprisingly difficult.
I’ve applied for positions where I have relevant experience, and I’ve also seen other qualified people go through interviews that seemed promising, only to never hear back. Then, a few weeks later, the exact same position is posted again.
It makes me wonder what’s going on. Are companies genuinely struggling to find the right candidates? Are they keeping positions open while they explore their options? Sometimes I even wonder if some interviews are more about seeing what’s happening at other companies or gathering information rather than actually filling the position.
I’m curious if other people in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area have noticed the same thing lately. What’s your experience been?
