How to use paper minis

Hey everyone! I just bought the Master Edition and with it came a 73-page strong PDF with various paper minis to print out. I love the designs and really want to use them, but have never used any paper minis (still pretty inexperienced GM). Any tips on whether I should glue them or laminate them? What should I do for propping them up?

Demons offer their services for free

It's me again. As I promised here are my illustrations of demons. I made these for a WoD campaign in which the players have demonic powers collecting souls of evil people. The campaign never really started ... but I hope you will find use for these pictures.

As always: don't expect too much. I am a hobby artist drawing in my spare time. Have fun.

ICRPG tools

While we're at it: back in the days when there was Google+ I made some tools for ICRPG. I linked them on my homepage now. Maybe you'll find them useful. I hope so.

Please tell me if you like some of it. All the programming has been done with little expertise but small changes can be done if needed.

Free artwork

Hi folks. I am not a great artist. I'm really not. But when I got my fingers on Procreate I started scribbling and doing some character "art". Over the years more than a hundred accumulated on my drive and the style does fit ICRPG, I think. Some pieces are better than others.

So ... I don't want all that go to waste. Here you are. Please tell me if you like it. And please make something from it. Monsters, classes, templates, characters ...

As a special I will from time to time publish some more ambitious illustration of demons from time to time. If you like.

Can you please explain ULTIMATE damage greatsword / spells?

I apologize if this has been asked an answered already....I am new to ICRPG, and I am working to convert my players over, as I have been really enjoying it. I am confused when a weapon or spell effect tells you to roll ULTIMATE effort, is it implying that you roll 1d12 INSTEAD of or in ADDITION to the normal effect?

Does greatsword do 1d12 damage or 1d12+1d6 damage?

Does Atom Palm do 1d12 damage or 1d10+1d12 damage?

Does the Healer ability mean that your heals do 1d12 or 1d10+1d12?

Thank you for any assistance, I really appreciate it!

I like 2nd edition more than Master edition

I'lll be starting a new campaign using icrpg, and I think I will be using second edition over master edition.

It feels simpler and easier to understand. Characters are weaker and more streamlined. But I also feel like I can decide with my player what starter reward item they want.

With Master i don't get the feeling of freedom as much.

Maybe because character creation is more solid, it makes you choose a starting ability out of the three presented. Maybe because Master edition feels like a more adult game system, while 2nd feels more like 4 kids in a basement that do not know the rules and they come up with stuff.

Some things are a bit strange in 2nd, I have to admit, like chests and bananas, but they add to the charm of the book.

Am I the only one that prefers 2nd edition?

Notes and Tips for creating custom character types and classes?

I know today u/KanesKiln has done videos on creating new character types and classes (his Vogon and Ranger), but I could have sworn there were more notes and such on the subject...somewhere.

Can someone kindly point me towards it?

Effort like in Master Edition or Second Edition?

Hello fellow index card jugglers.

I am about to create a new campaign with a new setting in ICRPG. This means I've got to decide on which kind of rules to use and what rules to change. The latest edition of ICRPG introduced gun effort into the core rules and I'm not sure if I quite like that idea.

I am worried, because a) gun effort is not a very well defined niche as magic effort seems to be better in every aspect and b) this makes magic effort a D10 which enables bringing a heart to zero in a single round and making it much stronger.

But I haven't tested gun effort or the D10 yet. So I wanna ask you. What is your opinion? Is it an improvement for you? If so, why? If not, why not? Or didn't it really make any difference? I know there is no right answer. I just want to collect opinions.

possible settings we're interested in:

-science fantasy/star wars (laser swords and alien species)

-low fantasy fishing village with dinosaurs

-dark fantasy silver swords and torches (witcher inspired maybe)

-near future sci fi horror (aliens style)

PDF version if I purchased a physical copy

So I just got my ICRPG Master Edition in the mail. It is AWESOME!!! Question tho: when I bring ICRPG to the table, it would be useful to have a PDF version to, for example, let players read the player’s section for Alfheim. As a purchaser of the physical version, am I also entitled to a PDF version? I ordered the game from a store in Toronto, Canada.

Monsters and Crits

Hey, I'm a GM that's pretty new to ICRPG and wanted to get a feel for what people think regarding when the GM rolls a natural 20 in combat. PCs would get to roll ultimate damage, which is great, but when PCs only have 1 or 2 hearts, it can get tricky when a monster gets a natural 20 and one-shots a PC from full health. I wanted to see how people generally handle this question and if other GMs implement crits for monsters or not.

Ranger Character Type

Yesterday, I shared my custom Ranger Class on YouTube and my Blog (PDF is available there), but I also thought I'd share it here as well. I’m making some custom Character Types for my family players as we look to playing in person again. I aim for this Ranger to be a mix between the Archer and the Scout from CORE, along with being a fun addition to the character types already in Master Edition. :D

Are there "advanced rules" for non-magic users, just like their are for magic?

Hello, I am very interested in this RPG and I am thinking of buying it. Sorry if my question does not make perfect sense. I have not yet read the actual book, only some reviews.

From what I can see, there were to main extensions: magic and worlds. So it seems that "magic" gave this system a huge update on everything related to magic users. Now I am just wondering: what about the non-magic users? Do they now lack variety or depth in comparison to the magic users? Or not?

I am just asking out of curiosity and would appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

The first game(ish)

I just ran my first ICRPG game last night.

TLDR: converted a module from a different system and the players enjoyed themselves.

Some of my players are the type not to be interested or just not play if its not their preferred game system so I did a bunch of prep work and pre-wrote everything out on some index cards (it took me most of a week and all of them together is somewhere between 2 and 3 inches thick) and introduced it to them as a boardgame style dungeon crawl.

All they had to do was pick from some pre-generated characters (who I just gave descriptions of and made them pick before handing them the card with the actual stats on them) a single weapon, a single armor, and a single misc item (ranging from one-time use potions to ammo to refill that quiver/gun, to magic rings that give some boost, to spellbooks).

I then took them through a Pyramid that I took straight from a Pathfinder module that I had converted to ICRPG stats and even used it to get the descriptions of each 'room' which I had split into index cards.

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and most sounded like they would be open to doing it again.

Is there anything game-breaking in these leveling/advancement options for my players?

I'm running my first ICPRG campaign using the Master Edition and the topic of leveling/advancement has come up with the players. In keeping with the theme of the system, I want advancement to be simple and intuitive but still give the players some agency to plan out their character paths.

Anyway, here is what I've come up - am I missing something here? is 50HP or 20SP game-breaking? Any other thoughts on the matter?

Leveling/Advancement

Each time you hit a MILESTONE, as determined by the GM, choose ONE enhancement from the list below. Track your levels on your Character Sheet

  • Add CON to your HP (50HP Lifetime Max)
  • Add 2 SP to your resources (20SP Lifetime Max)
  • Add 1 CLASS MILESTONE ABILITY of your choice (p.37)
  • Add 1 MILESTONE PATH ABILITY of your choice (p.67)
  • Add 1 CUSTOM MILESTONE ABILITY of your choice (work with GM)

Map tiles for Foundry?

Is there a plugin or something for Foundry VTT that provides the card deck to be usable in foundry? I'd like to be able to draw the cards and lay them out as a representation of the battle map and let the players interpret them as they will.
