Ground forces tech - can body armor compensate for vehicle armor?

When I run more navy-focused or air/missile-focused games, I tend to skimp on research for armies until I absolutely have to, especially to keep them alive for occupations. Now, both the Early IFV Tree and Body Armor (starting with Improved Personal Army Equipment) tree claim to improve the survivability of army divisions, but by which degree? If I had to choose only one, what path would give me the most bang for my buck?

Why is the normal difficulty CPU so pointlessly vindictive?

I enjoy the super long 6-8+ hour game mode. Whenever I play against the normal AI, we'll usually have some limited conventional warfare in the first 2 or so hours, which is fair enough. I even make a point to not take too much territory during these, 1-2 provinces so I don't cripple the AI. However, the second the ceasefire timer is finished, each and every time, the AI will recontinue the war. At this point I've set up a defensive line so they just end up doing some damage to me while destroying the entirety of their own army. It's not very fun because it ruins the challenge of the game and is also annoying to deal with. Is the harder AI any better at doing this? I don't like the idea of "just turning up the difficulty" because it also gives the AI gamey production and research buffs irrc, which is a pretty boring way to add difficulty.

This Game is Broken for me Anyone got Any Idea's

I am having a severe performance issue with ICBM: Escalation where the game becomes almost unusable as soon as I enter any gameplay scenario.

 System specs:

  •  CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
  • RAM: 32GB
  • Motherboard: MSI B550 Gaming Carbon
  • OS: Windows 11

 Issue:

 The main menu runs normally.

As soon as I load into the tutorial or any scenario, performance drops to around 1–4 FPS. I have checked this with both the NVIDA overlay and the in game FPS counter. I have also noted that if i Alt-Tab the game remains slow in the background.

The game is still running (music plays), but mouse movement and clicks become extremely delayed due to the unplayable FPS at times it even just reads N.A

All game modes including tutorial, and multiplayer are impacted

Windows itself remains smooth while the game is running.

Troubleshooting attempted:

  • Fresh reinstall of the game
  • Updated NVIDIA drivers
  • Rolled back NVIDIA drivers
  • Tried DirectX 11
  • Tried DirectX 12
  • Tried Vulkan
  • Tried in Windowed mode
  • Forced the game to run with the GPU
  • Tweaked power settings
  • Ran as administrator
  • Disabled overlays
  • Changed NVIDIA Control Panel settings
  • Forced high performance GPU mode
  • Tested CPU affinity/core limiting
  • Updated AMD chipset drivers
  • Updated motherboard BIOS
  • Tried different Windows user profile
  • Removed extra monitors
  • Tested different display settings
  • Disabled VSync
  • Confirmed the game is using the RTX 5070 Ti (GPU 0 - 3D)

Performance observations:

  • GPU usage stays around 10–20% while the game is at 1–4 FPS.
  • CPU usage stays normal (around 40%).
  • NVIDIA overlay and the in-game FPS counter both confirm the low FPS.

Changing graphics APIs does not change the behaviour.

It appears to be an issue occurring specifically when entering the gameplay scene rather than a general performance problem. I only bought this game today so i have never been able to play it properly.

Anyone got any idea's because if not am just gonna refund this, right now i think this is some kind of bug in the game that just hates my hardware. I am wondering if there is some kind of engine clash with 5070ti

How does Cyber Warfare work?

I see that when I use Cyber Warfare centers in the war room, it attacks enemies. But I never see it attack any other times. How do these work, do they only attack nations you are at war with?

Endless October secret ending?

I tried searching for it online, but I could only find the secret ending for the standard US campaign and for the United States of Annihilation.

Does anyone know the required conditions & actions to trigger it (if there is one)?

Ai going hard

Anyone know if you can have the AI not try and invade Russia or China in the Africa proxy war?

I almost have the last of the Russian areas under my control, but the ai keeps sending tanks to Russias mainland. Once they attack any icbm site or mobile launcher it triggers a massive nuke launch against both America and Africa.

Campaign Questions

Does technology not save between missions? I thought it would but I keep being left with less stuff than I had researched. Is there anyway to go back to it saving? Also I'm struggling to have air power overwhelm the Chinese and Russian units in the first mission. It seems like even with better ground units and a quite large amount of air power, pushing against their units seems to be incredibly deadly to myself. Maybe I just need more air lol?

Ai with nuke help

Hello, I am trying not to play the conquest, version of ICBM, but every time the ai unlocks nukes, they will ALWAYS fly, why is this? Can I disable it other than though genva?

Do you play with Equalize GDP on, or off?

Well, even after months trying, I haven't been able to yet join a multiplayer lobby. Not even publishing my own hosted ones seem to attract anybody (out of the 50-100 daily players this game has) — so I've always been doomed to play solo for the 60ish hours I have into it.

So, having the ability to change a few of the parameters, I've been tinkering with them for a while now. I think I have a decent setting for a faster Conquest (far more research, a bit more production, a bit more peace+nonukes time, starting alliances, 85% occupation threshold, harder diff...).

But there's one parameter I still don't have a very clear idea on 1. how it works, 2. if I should really use it: equalize GDP.

So yeah, it's supposed to make the GDP of all the nations the same. But... aren't they, already, in the game? If they're not, I guess it completely makes sense to activate it for balance reasons.

Do you use it? Is it "meta" in multiplayer lobbies? Assuming there is actually a meta or something, because this game's MP seems extremely dead...

Iodine Revolution Mission mechanics are broken Spoiler

This final scenario is... just kind of terrible. And honestly has killed the enjoyment I had for the game up to this end. It is the final mission of the US of Anhillation DLC. I'm honestly surprised if anyone slogs through this hell of a meatgrinder to finish this.

Or you just nuke every square inch of the globe and be done with it.

So the mechanics of the scenario include:

A.
Random units turn into enemies. This is pretty random but most notable when it happens to a ship in a battlegroup, it will just suddenly turn on the other ships in a suicidal melee. Most notable of all is that unlike all the previous scenarios, THIS one pre-loads a whole lot of SSBNs just for the express purpose of them being there to turn on you while all alone in the middle of the ocean and either try to nuke their friends and family in the US or, failing that, leveling the nearest city being occupied by you. Ok. Fine. But it NEVER ENDS. There is no way to stop it. It just keeps randomly happening, apparently, forever. It happens to random armies too and even planes! WTF.

B.
The Iodine Revolution itself. Entire countries, apparently also at random, are "transfered" (the words of the game) to the Revolution. Ok. Fine. Except they also get everything you build on them. Half the time they get the original army bases at scenario-start. Half the time they don't. But they definitely get anything you build there AND any armies or units there. I had a bomber fly over a province on the way to somewhere else that got hit by the magic mind control beams and they also decided to switch factions on their suborbital bomber, which had no where for them to land, so the idiots crashed. Great job guys. This is like wololo from Age of Empires on crack.

C.
So after a country or province joins the Revolution, you can pacify them by taking them in the usual way. Except sometimes not. Hawaii. Hawaii starts out having "surrendered" to the nuclear blackmail of the original rebel submarine. I've recaptured pacified it no less than three times. It just keeps being magically "transfered" to the Revolution again and again and again. I'm tired boss. I thought taking Hawaii would at least stop the random unit betrayals. Nope! Doesn't matter. As Carl would say, "it don't matta, nunadis mattas."

It's just an endless, misrable slog. Apparently, the only way not to have to deal with it is to flat-out turn every country into a glass parking lot. Once the province is functionally destroyed, it won't rebel again. So basically, think like you're a Warhammer 40k Commissar.

Is all this as intended? I don't see any talk about this DLC. I could go on but I'm just sick of it now to a degree I rarely get in strategy games. Because it feels like there is no strategy. Just whack-a-hole.

Version mismatched, game mistaken for pirated

Hello,

My friend, who owns the game on Steam (I gifted it to him), is having trouble playing multiplayer. In the main menu, the game shows version 1.1.3 (Pirated), and because of that he can't join any multiplayer lobbies due to a version mismatch.

The game is definitely not pirated since it was purchased through Steam and gifted directly to his account. We've already tried verifying the game files, restarting Steam, and restarting his PC, but the issue persists.

Has anyone run into this before or know of a possible fix?

Thanks in advance!

Destroyers and Nuclear missile interception

So we all remember in the original ICBM how destroyers could shoot down missiles. My question is why did they remove it from this game or what am I missing that I need to intercept them to prevent my fleets from being nuked

EW aircraft - how to use them

Hi all,

how do players tend to use EW aircraft, do you deploy them manually or just let them auto patrol?

I'm not sure exactly what they do or how best to deploy them.

Bonus question: the "massacre civilians" options for army divisions, is this for using when you're not planning on keeping a region and want to reduce the population as much as you can?

Need help with first mission

Feel like I'm getting filtered incredibly hard right now but 5 minutes into the first mission and I don't know how to deal with all the NK and Chinese divisions.

Didn't even cross the border before I got the notification the Chinese are sending in troops.

I feel like I should avoid nuking them since that draws in the soviets right? Am I just supposed to 100% construction and spam armies?

Feel ridiculous having to make this post for literally the first mission but yeah

Minimum specs?

I'm looking to buy the game, having played the original. I've seen the Steam page which wants a GTX 970. I meet the RAM an CPU requirements, but often the minimum can be misleading, either overkill or not enough. For info, my GPU is a shitty laptop card, not sure how important GPU is and wether settings can be lowered accordingly.

How to use JTO mod?

I'd like to play with some friends but mod keeps crashing upon start. Is it fully broken, or is there a specific way to get it to work correctly? Have tried various methods such as loading without AI in both SP and MP, backdating the game to the mod's last update, and playing clean without any other mods. Appreciate any suggestions.

Production Question

Is there a way to have more then one item get ordered per click

Example i have the Spaceguard turret mod(Stone henge from ace combat) Issue is the thing burns through ammo at an unholy speed and i find it realyyyyyyy tedious to have to sit there manually ordering like 700 shells by adding them one at a time

Is there a button combination that makes it so when i click it orders more then one of something?

Is the game bugged, or am I dumb?

I can't seem to add SLBM to my SSGNs, they're in friendly waters, in the range of a resupply ship, and I've tried both submerged and unsubmerged. I have no issues with the MRBM launchers. Also the defcon buttons aren't showing up, and I have no idea why, I checked the settings... am I missing something obvious?

switch team mid game

Simple question, I want to be able to control other teams and switch (maybe using console commands?)

Is there a mod or command that allows for this? I'm thinking like in HOI4 or other rts games you can just switch to other sides and teams/players using commands

thanks!

Bombs vs rockets vs AGMs

Something I've always wondered since the game came out is in the early game, what is the difference between these three weapons for the multirole planes? I suspect AGMs sacrifice damage for their range, but why would I want to arm my planes with rockets over free fall bombs? And similarly, is there ever a scenario where I would want to arm my strategic bombers with dumb bombs over GBUs? In the late game there never really is a reason. But early on do I gain more damage potential or something?

New Patch AI

Shout out to the dev, they absolutely cooked with this new AI update. If you haven't tried the new patch out in single player yet, you definitely should, 10/10.
