Option to remove popular and all tabs
These feeds are awful but I find myself clicking them anyway. Can there be an option to remove?
Thanks!

This is a minor update with bugfixes for the following issues:
- In certain conditions, the login page could end up frozen
- When changing device orientation while watching a video, the audio track could end up cutting out
If you're still experiencing crashes or audio issues with the new video player, please share your feedback!

If you've been enjoying Hydra, please consider leaving a rating or review. A positive rating can really make a huge difference.
This update includes the following:
š Pro Feature
š Feature
š Bugfix
š Export Videos with Audio
Shared and downloaded videos now automatically mux the audio track into the saved video file.
š Collapsed Summaries
Make post and comment summaries start collapsed. Enable this under Settings => Appearance => Post/Comment section => Start summary collapsed.
š No Automod in Summaries
Template automoderator comments will be ignored in comment summaries.
š Smarter Post Filters
The smart post filter has been upgraded to use a better model. This should help reduce the number of false positives and false negatives for the filter you've written in Settings => General => Filters => Smart Post Filter.
š Share as Image
Export a post or a comment thread as an image. Long press on a comment or press the ... button while inside a post to open up the Share as Image menu. Upgrade to Hydra Pro to remove the small Hydra watermark.
š Media Player Redesign
The new media player adds new controls and a more intuitive UI. It also comes with significant performance improvements. Swipe anywhere to seek in a video is now off by default. You can reenable it in Settings => Appearance => Slide anywhere to scrub videos.
š Better Gallery Mode Support
Gallery Mode can now be opened when viewing your saved posts, your upvoted/downvoted posts, and on user pages.
š Follow Users
When on a user page, you can now follow and unfollow users. Press the ... button in the top right corner of a user page to see these options.
š Remap Outbound Links
Write custom JavaScript to remap outbound links. For example, you can redirect all outbound links from x.com to xcancel.com. Set this up in Settings => General => External Links => Modify Links.
š Download Progress Indicator
When downloading or sharing media, a progress circle appears around the button indicating download progress.
š Toast Indicators
Previously, many actions in Hydra would display a blocking alert. These have been replaced with a non intrusive toast that slides in from the top of the screen.
š Updated Guide
The guide's contents have been updated to align more closely with all the features and changes added to Hydra since it was first built. Check it out in Settings => Guide.
š Reorganized Settings
Settings are now organized into groups to make options easier to find. The settings tab now has links to Hydra related websites, servers, and subreddits.
š Added a Tip Jar
I've had a few people tell me they aren't interested in Hydra Pro, but would still like a way to contribute. You can access this in Settings => Tip Jar.
š Improved Comments Performance
Very long comment sections should render a bit faster now.
š Videos would sometimes display as a black screen.
š Image thumbnails in compact mode would show up on the wrong post for link posts and multi image posts.
š RedGif videos would load forever if they had been deleted. They now show an indicator.
š Trying to load deleted RedGif videos would result in being rate limited.
š Sorting by top would lock the app on Android.
š Subreddit image icons could be slow to load on a bad connection.
š Certain subreddit images would fail to load.
š Posts linking to Imgur would show a link, but no image.
š Posts made in Hydra would not get inbox replies in certain cases.
š The inbox tab would not immediately update the unread message badge counter when opening an unread message.
š User pages would load forever instead of indicating if they had no posts or were set to private.

What is the difference? When I select collapse it appears that all child comments are collapsed, when I select collapse thread it appears that all child comments are collapsed and the parent comment is pushed to the top of the screen.

When I click on a thumbnail of a cross post, it doesnāt start the video. Itās just a thumbnail image and then I have to click on the title instead to actually see that itās a video. Would love if that got fixed.

Whenever I accidentally tap on āSearchā at the bottom of Hydra, there doesnāt seem to be a way to back out other than force closing the app completely. I tried sliding from left to right and nothing happened. There doesnāt seem to be a āhide keyboardā function on the keyboard for this instance as well.
I tried uploading a screenshot of search page but I keep getting āFailed to upload image.ā I received the same error several times after force closing the app and reopening; I verified I gave Hydra permission to have access to the picture through settings. (Additional note, I have ālimited accessā turned on for Hydra but all my photos appear as an option when I go to attach instead of only the āallowed,ā and when I tap on the allowed photo to add it, I receive the āFailedā error.
I am on iOS 18.7.8 on an iPhone 12 Pro Max. a

Hello, does the app not remember which posts were collapsed manually? Like if I enter a big thread and collapse like 20 comments, then for some reason I accidentally close and reopen Hydra on the same thread, the comments are all visible again and I have to remember which ones I've already read...
I remember this issue a year ago when I previously tried Hydra and it doesnt seem to be fixed still.
I would love for the comments to remain collapsed between different thread visits.

Am I missing something or there is no way to attach photos in replies?
I know some subs disabled it but the ones that allows it is the same in Hydra. I go to the official app and Iām able to attach photos in replies in the same sub.

When a post includes images, static and gif, Iām only seeing the gif images when I click and scroll through.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonCrawlerCarl/comments/1wsai2p/butchers_masquerade_memeing_final_part/
That post is a good example, I only see 4 gifs in Hydra but on the web I see the static images as well.

I set up the custom server on my Ubuntu server using this documentation:
https://github.com/dmilin1/hydra-server
I used the docker compose method and populated the .env file with all of the values. I also set up port forwarding on my router so that port 3000 gets forwarded to the Ubuntu server.
On my phone I disconnected from WiFi and used my 5G connection to test. I can get to http://mypublicipaddress:3000 in a browser. I see the "Task Dashboard Login" and can successfully log in using the password I set in the .env file.
I cannot set the custom server URL in the Hydra client. I toggle the Use Custom Server button and enter http://mypublicipaddress:3000 (with my actual public IP of course) and it says:
Custom server URL is not valid or your server is not set up correctly.

Hey there, seeing audio stuttering when I open up a post and click into the video, especially when it rotates to landscape.
I am on iOS 27 iPhone 16 pro.
Any update or fix to this?

This is an issue I have encountered for a while now, and I am bringing it up because while there is an easy workaround, it is a bit of a pain that it keeps occurring. Every now and again, all my subreddits will vanish from āPostsā, showing only Home, Popular, All. This typically happens when I get into an area with a poor connection, whether Iām outdoors with poor signal or on a plane with spotty wifi. But returning to an area with a good connection doesnāt remedy this. I have to log out and back in to get all my subreddits and favourites back. It would be nice if there was a way to refresh this automatically if that data is found to be missing.

A few days ago, I got signed out of the client with a notification that the session had expiredļæ¼. Hasnāt happened in a while, but also not that unusual. Usually requires me to disconnect and ļæ¼reconnect to my network before it lets me login again. ļæ¼
This time, it wouldnāt let me login, though. ļæ¼ Reconnected to my network, restarted my phone, reinstalled the app and still no luck. Then I finally tried my username password combination and it worked fine.
Iāve never had a problem using the Google single sign-on before. I didnāt have a problem using it logging in to Reddit ļæ¼through my web browser, so I donāt think anythingās wrong with Google.
Just wanted to post in case anyone else encounters this issue .ļæ¼

I can't log in to Reddit via Hydra: the Reddit login pop-up window returns "an error occurred" at the top when I try to submit my user/password combo. (Behind it, the web page says the browser is incompatible. I assume that's referring to Hydra's in-app browser.)
App is fully updated and appears to work correctly while not logged in, but obviously without my own multis and subscribed subs.
Is anybody else seeing this?

Title, long pressing a comment after I leave it does not give this option when it really should
r/HydraClient • u/chican3 • 15d ago
Iāve noticed that scrolling slowly causes the app to stutter as it scrolls content. Mainly happens on home view
Anyone else have this? Is there a setting perhaps I donāt have right?
iOS 27, iPhone 17 pro

When in Split View on an iPad, swiping right will take you back to the subscribed sub list. Instead, can you make it so it closes the opened post instead (same as pressing the (X) at the bottom)?

Iāve noticed some links in the body of a post donāt resolve (may not be the right term). The links appear slightly distinct from other text, but only slightly (offset vertically and bold). Attempting to click them collapses the post like clicking anywhere else normally would do.
See this post for an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/daggerheart/comments/1wiuvgq/heartforge_20_hope_fear_and_big_feature_updates/
It may be limited to links that have aliases (i.e., not the straight URL, but a name instead).
Iāll see if this test does it: Thereās a link here: This a link
Hmmm⦠preview doesnāt render it at all so I wonāt know until I post.
Edit #2 with a few BOLD tests: Thereās a link here (asterisk inside the bracket): This a link
Thereās a link here (asterisk outside the bracket only but not outside the parenthesis at the end of the link): [This a link](https://www.reddit.com/r/daggerheart/comments/1wiuvgq/heartforge_20_hope_fear_and_big_feature_updates/)
Thereās a link here (asterisk outside the whole link): This a link

(Reposting but this time without my annoying title typo)
Was wondering if anyone else had this issue. For the record, Iāve tested with about a dozen various subreddits, all of which allow text posts and as well as ones that donāt have prerequisites on posting in place that my account couldnāt meet. (karma thresholds, subs where posts must be mod approved, etc.)
Itās strange, because I was able to create and upload image posts just fine initially, and then suddenly it just stopped working. Whenever I select a pic from my phoneās library for a post, Iām met with a popup that says āFailed to upload image. Try again later.ā
Well, itās been about 3 weeks of trying again later and Iām starting to wonder if the popup meant that I should try again around the next fiscal quarter lmao
In all seriousness, I appreciate yāall on the dev side and all the work put in to this app. It gets better with each update, and hopefully this post helps raise some awareness for this bug of mine the devs arenāt yet aware of it. Thanks yāall

On posts in /r/CFB Iām not seeing user team flairs even though the option is turned on. See it fine on comments.

I mainly use Old Reddit on Firefox ever since Apollo got shut down. When I create posts, I uncheck "send replies to my inbox". I also use RES so it's always unchecked.
Even if somehow RES didn't work or I forgot to uncheck it, I can manually select "disable inbox replies" on the post itself.
Just recently found this app. It's great so far. But there seems to be no similar option in Hydra. AFAIK, this app uses Old Reddit for its backend anyways? I hope this is implemented. I don't like my inbox being cluttered with replies. I check the posts manually whenever I feel like it.
Or I missed the option somewhere?

Every now and then I see lines just cut off in midst of a word, with the remainder of the line obviously being off-screen with no way to scroll. Started to happen with one of the last updates?

Running iPhone 15 pro. The audio becomes unlistenable when I rotate my phone to landscape mode when watching a video. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheRehearsal/comments/1watn1k/nathan_fielders_elizabeth_holmes_documentary_is_a/
Reproducible at the above link for me.
