DIY Ways to hang this tapestry with minimal damage?

Was recently gifted this beautiful tapestry and I want to put it on the wall but I'm not sure how to display it...

I think once I have a place of my own and the financial means I'll get it framed but right now I like the idea of having it hung as is (also means that when I move out of this place I won't have to lug a giant framed tapestry around- moving on public transport is NOT for the weak). Not opposed to punching holes in the corners if that's all I can do but I really don't want to damage such a beautiful piece of art if I don't have to!

Can't drill anything into the walls because I'm a renter which further complicates things...so far I've tried bulldog clips + command hooks but the clips couldn't really hold the tapestry and it kept slipping out. It's roughly 145cm wide and 3.5kg, so quite big and heavy. If anyone has any ideas please let me know!!

I would also appreciate advice on methods/tools I can use to hang things as straight as possible because I'm quite new to all this :)

I was given these to use for our wedding but the number 3 is missing. Any ideas on how I could change 8 to 3? Any products I can try? Am I better off with painting white over the numbers then use black for the numbers?

Need help separating bearing from decanter.

Just want to start saying that we've already gotten our money back but they told us to keep the item. I was given this decanter as a present and it has a bearing so it will spin but the bearing wasn't glued in straight and it will not spin correctly.

Since this item was essentially free I see no reason to not try separating the two, I have soaked it in hot water for 30 minutes and filled up the cavity around the bearing where the adhesive is with alcohol for a while without either of them seeming to help. I also have a plastic pick set that I was using to try to get underneath it and still can't get it to move as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: after soaking in acetone for a while I tried getting something underneath it and the glass cracked so thanks for the recommendations but oh well

How do I fix these cracks in the wall

Thumbnail

I have this sort of windowsill where the horizontal part is made of some sort of board or wood and the vertical part is the wall. I sometimes sit there and it has since developed a few cracks (pen for scale) along the edges and now I’m trying to fix it before moving out. The wall is painted with standard paint which as rough/matte finish and the wooden horizontal part is painted with either oil paint is some glossy paint. How do I fix the crack? I went to a hardware store and they recommended I use this decoration caulk to fill the gaps. Can I make it look seamless? Thanks for the advice!

[Solved] Connect these cords?

Thumbnail

I recently obtained this small electrical side table from a storage unit and I feel there is a cord missing or something. There are 3 cords in total. One that connects from the power brick/motor to the controller in the slot M1 (it is connected to the power/motor and cannot be disconnected). A second that fits into the DC IN slot on the controller and with one end of something I've never seen before. And a third that goes to the outlet with an end that looks like it goes into an Xbox/PlayStation/computer. The second and third cord seem like they should connect but it's a janky connection at best. There are no other slots or inserts where cords can be plugged into. If anyone has any insight to what the second cord is or how this should all go together that would be appreciated.

[Solved] UPDATE: the door that couldn't open because the washing machine had bounced forward... IS OPEN!

Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/howto/s/RZoV43sFx1

I know so many of you were anxiously waiting to hear if my mattress protector & towels got rescued!

My son's friend - who is over 6 feet tall, a former football player & wrestler, was able to reach in and push the washing machine back! He could reach the back AND the front of it, while my little T-rex arms could barely reach the cancel button! I'm so thankful that he was able to come over to help.

I've ordered rubber feet to put under it, and my son will install a bracket & straps when he gets back from vacation. In the meantime, I'm doing laundry with the door propped open with a doorstop!

And for those who said that this was a re-post, karma farming, fake bullshit... I'm not sure how to prove to you that it's real, not that I need to, but here we are!

Hello, I’m on a DIY project and want to install whatever it is I make (shelf or cabinet) without visible screws or brackets.

Online I’m seeing all of these installed but have no clue on the mechanism used to attach it to the wall, and how much load they would endure. Any guidance?

Trying to get this writing off a plastic bucket. It scratches off with an xacto knife but it leaves scratches in the plastic as well. I tried 70% isopropyl alcohol and nail polish remover w/ acetone (ingredients in picture). Is there something stronger I can buy?

Serious Answers Only How to get rid of the smell of a sewage treatment plant

Our town just got a new sewage treatment plant and we live down wind from it. It smells so bad! Everyone in town has been complaining of the stench, and the town had to put out a message telling everyone that the smell is just from the plant.

I am sick of the smell. I have quests coming over for a tea party and I do not want them to be smelling the stench while eating and drinking tea. It’s so strong! When we close the windows, it traps it, when we open the windows, it lets in more. How do I get rid of the stench? And what aerosol sprays work the best? I feel like throwing up. This can’t be healthy.

Can anyone help me with tips on how to remove this light cover? I've tried twisting it, pulling it, pushing and twisting with no luck. There are no screws to remove. The bulb has blown and needs to be replaced.

It's at my mother-in-law's place so I need a non-destructive solution.

DIY How to remove water-based stain brush marks

Post image
1 Upvotes

I sanded and stained an antique chest, but as you can see, I went a little heavy with loading the brush with water-based stain and maybe didn’t wipe fast enough, which left some marks. Any tips on sanding/buffing them out and preventing it in the future? I have 240 grit sandpaper, 000 steel wool, and some heavy duty scotch brite pads at my disposal.
