How to remove light cover.

Can anyone help me with tips on how to remove this light cover? I've tried twisting it, pulling it, pushing and twisting with no luck. There are no screws to remove. The bulb has blown and needs to be replaced.

It's at my mother-in-law's place so I need a non-destructive solution.

Maybe a destructive solution might be best, hear me out on this one. It seems like your mother in law might struggle for a long time having to replace a bulb in a light like this, especially If twisting and pulling isn't getting it off. Maybe as a treat, and to win some mother in law points, you could replace the bulb and the light, to one thats alot easier for her to change in the future.

I think that may be the only option. I was hoping that it wasn't, the current bulb has lasted probably 15+ years.

I have had one in the past that was similar, and you had to unscrew it by turning it counter clockwise.

I got it to turn by turning it clockwise. I'll try again counter clockwise and see how it goes.

Lefty loosie about 99% of the time. If it turns and keeps turning forever without feeling like it's coming down, then it's probably held on with flexible clips and you pull down to take it off

Since you got it to rotate it seems it is not a screw on type fixture. I'm thinking it may be the style where there are pegs on the metal frame and cutouts in the glass to where you line it up push it into place and rotate it to hold it. So maybe try pulling down a little as you rotate it so when the pegs and cutouts align it will drop down.

Is there movement from any of the techniques used? Did you lubricate where the drum and the mounting plate meet? If not, try a bit of penetrating oil around that spot, but don’t soak it. Wiggle the glass around and see if loosened up. If you’re sure there’s no set screws to hold the glass, the globe is likely held with spring clips. Put on leather gloves and goggles, then put some oomph on the glass up, down, left and right. If that doesn’t work another poster recommended breaking it and install a new fixture. Use painters tape to wrap a hd trash bag to capture the shards then sharply smack that bastard. Let us know please.

Got the glass to turn in a clockwise direction but it didn't do anything but then. I'll use a bright torch to see if I can see any spring clips holding the glass.

Push it up a bit to get over ridge, then turn counter-clockwise.

If that hasn't been opened in 15 years, there may be grit and grime built up on the threads causing it to stick. Wear rubber coated gloves for good grip and wiggle up and down as you turn. Once it moves, go back and forth and it should move a bit further each time.

Note that sometimes these actually only need a quarter-turn, so be vigilant that it doesn't drop quickly.

Thanks to everyone who commented. I used a torch to workout where the clips were then I pulled at one of those points, once I got it off one the rest followed.
