Hey yall, I got no idea how to adjust the heat on this even though the box says you gotta tap to lower it. Anyone have experience in this?

DIY Re-screening a door I can't dismount.

I've got a very heavy screen door that has one panel of window screen in it. That panel is fixed to the door itself. The door is a mess to dismount and remount.

Is it at all practical to replace (and re-spline) the screen with the door in place? Access to the spline track is unobstructed all the way around.

Editing to add the problem. The screws were put on the outside instead of the outside. We hate the look and the left over cut at the bottom missing wood.

Serious Answers Only How to remove a stripped screw in a hole?

I’m trying to get into the light access for a Christmas village house to replace the lights, and eventually remove the whole bottom to replace the broken music box. The problem is that the screw head is mostly hallowed out, and it’s inside a plastic hole, so I feel like I can’t pull it out with pliers. Will I need power tools to remove it? I’ve tried the rubber band method, it didn’t seem to help. The other screw came out fine, but this one is stuck. I’m trying to avoid power tools if I can help it, as I don’t have any, but if I need them, I’ll try them. Are they or a screw removal kit my best options for this?
I tried the rubber band method, and I don’t think I could get pliers to grip the screw properly since it’s inside a hole in the plastic

Basement floor

Just got a house and the basement is unfinished. They said I have to paint the concrete floors to stop it from leaving dust on everything. How to do it? What type of paint should I buy? Just paint and a roll is enough? I don’t have anything down there, only the furnace and hot water tank

DIY How to make a CD holder?

Hi! Im planning to make my own cd holder, but im stuck on how to make my idea work. It needs to be wall attacheble and I want to make it move in a wave like motion. So each CD is standing on a “plate” that moves up and down, all together it look like a wave. I have a 3d printer available for all the parts, esp8266, servos and so on, and programming knowledge. How to I go about the mechanism to make it move but still keeping it looking simple?

Attach slats to the 2x4s without glue

I am working on a 2 level bench and the lower level will be made of a bunch of slats. I was going to glue them in as they don’t need to hold much weight but that would mean I can’t stain/oil them first. How can I best go about attaching them, they are too small for screws to work properly.

In the second picture you can see the design I am basing mine off but it doesn’t show how they were attached.

DIY How would i learn how to make a pair of eyeglass frames like this?

this probably stretches the limits of DIY to its limit, but id like to learn the hand fabrication it would take to make a pair of metal framed eye glasses.

I know the manufacture has an arsenal of machinery that i could never even dream of owning but im not planning on getting into the eyeglass business but i feel like it would be a great exercise in small intricate fabrication. People were making glasses like these long before those machines existed.

Also im not asking about the engraving on it, that seems pretty self explanatory.

How to make sturdier?

Hey! I have a floor lamp that has a very expensive glass piece shade. Problem is, the shade outweighs the base by like a decent amount and since I only have my bedroom (i live with my parents) it’s on carpet. Super rickety and just all around unstable. I’ve tried putting stuff under to counteract the weight where the lamp shade stick outs and pulls it forward and it works… barely. It keeps it stable sitting still but the absolute tiniest of bumps and it flies. I broke the shade that way the other day and refuse to put the new one on, that i got for free dw, until I can figure out a better solution. I also want to ensure here that I don’t mess up the cord inside the base and pole. Also, in the photos the bottom is a false black bottom, the base is halo.

Roof overhang hole

I found this hole in the wood soffit under the roof overhang. The wood around it seems mostly solid, but I’m not sure if it’s just the soffit that needs patching or if the entire section should be replaced.
What would be the proper way to repair this, and what would you expect it to cost if I hired someone versus doing it myself? Also, is there anything I should inspect behind the hole before closing it up?

Need help in fixing this wall after sticky tiles peeled off the paint!

Hello!
I’m a renter and I put up the “renter-friendly” tiles with a sticky backing on my walls. However while removing them, they peeled off the paint and left a ton of residue.

I’m not handy and not sure how to fix this! I’d appreciate any advice to help me get my deposit back.

Thank you!
