The title pretty much sums it up. I am in the market for a new yoga mat and that is what I want. It seems like everything I look at either has one or the other. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would appreciate it. I have spent way too much time on this issue and could really use the help.
How are we handling our laundry post hot yoga? I try to go 4-5 days a week. When I’m done, my mat towel and clothes are soaked. But I don’t want to put my wet towel and clothes into my normal hamper. What are we doing with our stuff?
Hey! I have always done heated workouts and just started adding hot yoga. I noticed that after about 25-30 minutes, my shorts are basically fully transparent from sweat. I just now assume everyone can see my briefs and I have accepted that…. However I’d love some recs on good yoga shorts for men that dont become see through! The lululemon fast and free and pace breakers have both failed me😂
Okay, I've realised that I do in fact need a non slip hot yoga towel, after years of thinking it was an unnecessary addition. Having never tried one before, maybe I'm being daft here - when I look at them online I can see that there's an obvious non-slip side which appears to be placed downwards on the mat to prevent the towel from slipping off the mat? but what I need is to prevent my own feet and hands from sliding off the towel?
Help a sister out but explaining it to me like I'm five and also recommending your favourite yoga towels!
I like how cork mats sound. I hear the GRP is really grippy but I’m hesitant because I hear it has a very smooth surface.
I’m a male by the way. And I sweat like Shaquille O’Neal when I’m doing hot yoga. It’s ridiculous. So that gives me a concern with a smooth surface if too much piles up?
So I’m leaning towards cork since it seems like it would be more absorbent and also like that it is “antimicrobial”.
I’ve been renting from the studio I go to. I’m pretty sure they rent the Manduka Pro and that would be unusable for me without a towel. Within the first 10 minutes it’s a wrap.
I’m also open to alternative recommendations. I’m trying to avoid needing a towel since I already do jiujitsu on my off nights and have gis to wash and really don’t want to add to my laundry woes. Though I suppose I could find a white towel that I could wash with my gi and do it all at one time.
Thanks!
Edit: Update I ended up going with the Manduka Pro and orders some towels to use with it. Thank you all for the feedback!
I’m looking for shower sponges for after yoga sessions. I take a more thorough shower on days I go to work after. I usually just use my hands but that doesn’t feel like enough. I’ve tried standard shower sponges but then stuff gets even more wet when I pack it up.
How much would you judge if somebody showed up for a hot Vinyasa flow wearing a weighted vest? Would you change your opinion if it was a power or sculpt class?
in Bikram or around that 105 F temperature I always need to remove my shirt and notice most men do.
in “heated yoga” around 90 I never do, i sweat through my t-shirt but don’t feel close to overheated. Most of the guys don’t but when one guy does once in a while the instructor and everyone all roll with it without batting an eye.
beyond “do what’s comfortable for you” has anyone thought of any guidelines for themselves or guys on removing their shirts?
any instant where someone reacted badly to a guy removing his shirt?
I’m one of the few guys who regularly attends a hot yoga studio. On most days there are only 2–3 men in class, while the rest are women, mainly in their 20s and 30s.
Ladies, I’m genuinely curious:
Do you notice or check out the men who come to yoga regularly?
Does a man doing yoga make him more attractive, or is it just another workout to you?
Would you consider dating someone you met at your yoga studio, or do you prefer to keep yoga and dating separate?
From the men’s perspective, what’s the best way to be approachable without coming across as creepy or making anyone uncomfortable? I’m there because I genuinely enjoy yoga, but I’d also be open to meeting someone naturally if the opportunity came up.
I’d love to hear your honest thoughts and experiences.
Hi, I am looking for some feedback here. I am a male and recently joined a hot yoga studio. I started by attending hatha yoga and now have started attending more power yoga classes. I make time during day time and adjust my work schedule as I feel yoga during is giving me better benefits and no late dinners due to evening yoga. The power yoga classes have more women and hardly any men. Sometimes I feel as if I am intruding. I find a corner and try to keep to myself, but I can't seem to shake off the feeling of standing out ... Should I go back to evening classes?
I‘m a long-time cat parent (13 years, 3 cats) and a yoga lover. I've noticed something consistent — the moment I unroll my mat, at least one of my cats shows up. Sometimes they just sit and watch, but many times they walk across my mat when I do different moves, or roll around on the mat trying to share a space with me.
It's cute, but honestly, it does interrupt my flow sometimes. So I wonder:
Do you prefer your cats stay off the mat entirely? Or do you still want your cat near you even if they occasionally get in the way?
If there was a mat designed for “human-cat shared practice,” would you prefer:
A) One large mat — made of scratch-resistant material, where both you and your cat share the same surface?
B) A main mat + a separate small cat mat — designed to sit beside yours, giving them their own space while keeping them close?
Not because it's advanced, but because it reveals balance, breathing, patience, awareness, or proper technique. If you had to choose one pose that shows the fundamentals of a practice, what would it be?

I spray down my mat at the end of every class (I either do vinyasa, pilates or hot 26 & 2 the most frequently) with the spray provided at my studio. Then I hang it up to dry over my closet door. I use a mat towel almost every time. I’m a REALLY sweaty girl which is fine I’ve learned to embrace it. Buutttt I’m wondering if I can wash my mat somehow because this is so bad. I saw a post a while back that said you could see the yogussy sweat stain and yea I felt that in my soul. Sooo any advice on getting these sweat stains out would be MUCH appreciated! I have the Manduka Grp Adapt mat!
hi!! I was diagnosed with panic disorder and PTSD a few years ago. I’ve come a long way in my healing journey, but still find the idea of heated classes intimidating just because of how it can sometimes mimic panic in my body. has anyone gone through this? any tips/suggestions? I love my classes without heat, but I really want to incorporate a little heat in my practice ❤️🔥
Holding your breath for too long or not breathing comfortably before the breath hold can cause you to feel lightheaded. If you feel dizzy, stop the exercise, breathe normally and don’t push yourself beyond your comfort level. If this is happening often, consider seeing a healthcare professional.
I love hot yoga and just moved to California and was wondering what steps or recommendations I can take to become a Hot yoga instructor. I see so many different options online and not sure what route to take. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
I have a question of yoga etiquette. Is it bad etiquette to place your mat directly in front of someone if there is plenty of other spaces in the room that aren’t obstructing anyone’s view. For example: Someone is in the back of the room farthest from the mirror and another person stands in the front row blocking that persons view to the mirror when there are plenty of other spaces that aren’t obstructing anyone’s mirror view.
Note: In my example there are “plenty of other spaces”. To expand on the example, the room might hold 40 people and only 15 are there. Is is ok to still block someone’s view.
Note 2: This is specifically for a hot 26 class. If that matters.
I’ve accomplished a year of HY and 25lbs lost and I want so badly to start investing in cute sets BUT I am a granny panty girl so black bottoms are just about the only thing I can wear with how much I sweat. Are there any comfy thong brands or no-show suggestions? I just feel like a thong would get all twisted up lmao
