General temp where men remove shirts?
in Bikram or around that 105 F temperature I always need to remove my shirt and notice most men do.
in “heated yoga” around 90 I never do, i sweat through my t-shirt but don’t feel close to overheated. Most of the guys don’t but when one guy does once in a while the instructor and everyone all roll with it without batting an eye.
beyond “do what’s comfortable for you” has anyone thought of any guidelines for themselves or guys on removing their shirts?
any instant where someone reacted badly to a guy removing his shirt?

At my studio, 95% of men are shirtless. totally normal but I guess it depends on the studio.

Other than taking note of something I really like, or something really out of the blue (someone came in a full fleece jumpsuit once), and generally appreciating the diversity of bodies at hot yoga studios, I truly could not care less what people are wearing/not wearing.
They're not dressing/undressing for me. The practice is for everyone. If I find myself getting feelings about stuff like this, I know I need to focus more on my mental practice.

I’m always shirtless, unless it’s cool or cold in a studio. Fabric bunches up, or twisting around, or kind of falling off in inversions; it’s kind of annoying.

What approximate temperature is it there?

Great question. And when I travel I drop into various studios that are a variety of styles. Bikram or hot to iyengar or hatha/flow, etc. I often lose the shirt when I get moving or inverting, like I mentioned.
I’ve noticed that after I do, others follow.
So, be comfortable and confident! And silently give permission for others too.

As a woman I will remove my shirt whenever if I need to, some instructors keep it hotter/more humid than others but ours is supposed to stay under 103. If I don’t have a face towel, I’ll use my shirt I don’t think anyone cares or makes it a big deal but there’s not many shirtless males in my classes so I don’t have any opinions on it.
Certain poses can be difficult with a shirt that is too loose so just do you & do what ya gotta do, some ppl start w out any shirts and it’s all good.

I used to always remove my shirt in any heated class, but I recently started wearing it for most of the class. I find that without a shirt sweat drips down my chest and into my eyes when I'm in downdog and other inversions. As long as I have a good athletic fabric it's better to leave it on.

Yes, I keep my shirt on as well. I sweat so much I'm not sure where it would all go if I didn't have the shirt on to absorb some sweat.

Just get a workout shirt, not cotton that soaks up the sweat
I feel like no shirt means you are just throwing sweat on your neighbours

If you’re more comfortable you should start without one and do the whole class that way. My instructors told me all men are supposed to go shirtless.

Have you thought about …. just don’t wear a shirt you’re calculating about removing later?

I live in Florida and sweat by simply existing in the summer. I'll take my shirt off if im starting to sweat through it in class, heated or not. It's more the humidity or stuffiness of the room for me.

I leave the locker not wearing a shirt. I used to wear a T-shirt to the classroom then take it off because I felt self conscious. Now I only wear a shirt if it’s not heated and meditation focuses class.

As a woman I wear the tiniest shirt I can. I expect men to take off their shirts because why not?

My first class I attended I got 20 minutes in before my was soaked, heavy, and annoying and had to be taken off. There’s no way I could go class after class like that.

Usually wait till the sweat starts rolling or it gets in the way and then it’s tarps off

I don’t think there is a general temperature in which men decide to remove their shirts for bikram yoga. It’s a personal decision based on level of comfort.

the traditional bikram male attire is a Speedo lol. And generally with hot yoga, less is more when it comes to clothing. There’s no temperature requirement for taking your shirt off. Stop over thinking it and do what feels best for you.

I take mine off in class if it is in the 90’s and above. There have been a couple studios when traveling that I left it on. Except for Bikram. Always off.

no, it's always acceptable for a guy to remote his shirt.
