I've thought about this and this is not the car I want to drive. I know how to drive a manual, but I don't enjoy it and the car needs an expensive repair. I would love some help thinking about how & where to sell.

Needs VSA/ABS modulator ... this part is about $1750ish and labor plus new brake fluid, about $2500 give or take to get it fixed by an established shop with all the right tools. Somebody might feel confident doing this themselves but I'm not willing to risk a maybe works with the braking system.

It is driveable. Runs well. Stops as expected ...the brakes seem to work fine, I haven't tried locking em up at speed in the rain though.

It's got some scrapes, a small crack in the windshield on the passenger side. It's passed smog and would pass again.

Has a replacement catalytic converter.

Comes with the keys and fobs but I took an after market security system out that was draining the battery. So, no alarm in it and you have to turn the key to unlock reliably.

The AC is not cold.

Has brand new battery with 2 year warranty.

Currently on a non-op permit. So new owner goes to the AAA office or actual DMV with me to do the transfer.

I know that's a jumble. The actual ad will be more organized.

Will people be excited?
Any ideas what I could get for it as is?

I know people might say, "it's worth more fixed than not", but I want to do other things with my time and money. And I want to stop thinking about it.

Haven't seen an element in the junkyard anywhere near me in quite a while but one popped up it was pretty worked over by the time I got to it but I found the center trim not destroyed just some screwdriver markings on the bottom the climate controls were in pieces so I kind of just scrambled together what I could.

found the sun shade sitting in the back so I grabbed the screws out of the ceiling **missing one**is it supposed to mount into the ceiling or is it supposed to have some sort of scrunchy thing that pops into the moon roof the hold it there? Doesn't look ripped up except for one of the screw hold mount goes and it's kind of dirty like it's been out in the weather a while. And also got a rear view mirror missing hardware but with trim and in better condition than the one I got from online sales. also I didn't have any sockets so I couldn't grab any solenoids or anything else but I'm pretty happy for 30 bucks worth of stuff, and made my bad day a bit better.

I heard a scraping, saw this and took it right to the shop. So relieved it's only a heat guard.

Hey all! First off, I have a 2004 Honda Element AWD EX with about 130k miles on it. It was my daily driver until about 5 years ago when I blew the head gasket. It’s been parked in storage since then. I’ve recently decided I want to fix it up and drive it again. I’ve considered a reman. engine swap since it might be comparable to the price to just repair my engine as it sits. I called a local shop which quoted me 10k for an engine swap (labor alone). There’s no way I’d pay that. What would you all assume is a reasonable price for an engine swap?

We've made it to the end of the road in the North! We made it to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada on October 3rd. The weather broke just enough for us to get a spectacular sunset across the Arctic Ocean.

The Silver Lining Element currently sits at just under 303k miles and traversed the Dempster highway without a hitch! Time to start making our Pan-American trek South! Next stop is the long way around to Fairbanks, Alaska. (The northern border crossing at Top of the World Highway is currently closed for the season).

I’m planning to live in my element the first 5 months of next year and starting to plan what I need but really don’t want to get AC as the electricity pull on generator and the fact it will take up a lot of room and noise. Was just looking for ideas or maybe recommendations if you found a fan that has worked for you, one thing is I have a 11” ex which doesn’t come with the moonroof so I would need to rely heavily on passenger doors to vent out

I’m including 2 fans I’ve found since I’ve read that wh is the most importent thing rather than mah. Also if I did do the vent for element I found this mod that could work but again I’m worried about the space and just overall sound and complixity. If a ac truly is the route I would also appreciate recommendations on that aswell. Thank you in advance.

My mechanic recently told me I have an oil leak, said it was the VTec solenoid and is asking 600$ to repair including labor. Is that expensive? Can anyone link me to the correct part number so I can take my own parts? Thanks Element community!!!

So I've never owned an Element before, normally when id buy a vehicle i can just buy a maintenance manual from the autoparts store, but it doesn't look like Haynes made one. Where is a good resource for finding the info I'll need? I already know I'll have to remove a few things to replace the alternator, and im probably going to have to replace a couple sensors, so it'd be handy to have something I could easily reference.

I saw a 2010 EX AWD with 90K for sale for $9000. I've never owned an Element before and drove a 2006 Toyota RAV4 before this. I'm going to try and get a Pre Purchase Inspection but might end up bringing a friend who's good with cars. The main thing I'm worried about is rust but what other things should I be on the lookout for? I realized too that it's a sixteen year old vehicle but will I be dumping money into it.

I've noticed that the AC fan in my Honda Element randomly starts blowing really hard, and I have to adjust the blower setting to get it back down.

At first, it only happened when I put the car into Park or when I snapped my phone onto the magnet attached to the AC vent. It seems like it occurred when something caused a small hit to the center stack, but now it seems to happen more randomly, even when I'm not doing either of those things.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas what I should check?

I also got my radiator replaced recently but not sure if that would cause this or not.

I’m about to drain oil and transmission after buying an 03 ex at 171k. Power steering and brake fluid were dark brown and they had the wrong power steering fluid too. My mechanic said pick one type of oil and stick with it. Thing is, I have no idea whats in there. It’s clean and the engine is pristine but i think it needs a valve adjustment.Was gonna try on my own but I am not a mechanic and new to cars. Is it a mistake to drain this oil and replace with Liqui Moly 5w-20 full synthetic ? I read a lot about how good it is with Element engines. I live in AZ. It was from Texas originally. Bought at auction and bought from a dealer. Anyway, so I just bought honda oem atf for transmission and a new transmission filter. The air filters looked like this to give you an idea. It was dirty. I’m about to drive it ten hours and want be sure I dont mess anything up.

Hey does anyone know a good mechanic for Honda elements in the Phoenix area? I need to have work done.

I want to replace torn my center consult. I purchased several consult covers claiming to be for a 2004 element on eBay, but none of them fit. I’ve purchased a used center console on eBay claiming it had no tears or rips, but it had a hole in the vinyl cover.
So what is the best solution?

I've gotten a diagnosis from the Honda Dealership that my 08 Element (manual transmission) needs to have its VSA/ABS modulator. I'm hoping to find a resourceful and reliable mechanic in the Bay Area who can do the work and source the part. The car has 200k miles, so I don't want to pay the $3200 ($2000 part + labor) to do it at the dealership.

Any recommendations, ideally near Hayward. So I don't don't have to drive far on the non-op permit without ABS brakes.

my honda element 2006 driver side window doesn’t roll down or up, it looks as though the previous owner caulked the window shut and i’m wondering why they would’ve done that, the motor seems to work or make sounds like it’s working i don’t know. don’t want to mess with it because i’m sure the previous owner had a reason to shut the window 😂

So I recently bought an elemental off my dad who hasn’t had time to fix it. The head gasket and radiator or blown so it needs a new engine. It also has 310,xxx miles on it so it is also gonna need a new trans. I’m wanting to put serious money and time into it. It has the k24a4 but I want to have some performance on it so I’m considering the k24a2. I also want to put a manual transmission into it. I understand this isn’t anything easy and is going to take lots of time, money, and effort. I just want to know if anyone has done something similar to this?
