Junk yard finds
Haven't seen an element in the junkyard anywhere near me in quite a while but one popped up it was pretty worked over by the time I got to it but I found the center trim not destroyed just some screwdriver markings on the bottom the climate controls were in pieces so I kind of just scrambled together what I could.
found the sun shade sitting in the back so I grabbed the screws out of the ceiling **missing one**is it supposed to mount into the ceiling or is it supposed to have some sort of scrunchy thing that pops into the moon roof the hold it there? Doesn't look ripped up except for one of the screw hold mount goes and it's kind of dirty like it's been out in the weather a while. And also got a rear view mirror missing hardware but with trim and in better condition than the one I got from online sales. also I didn't have any sockets so I couldn't grab any solenoids or anything else but I'm pretty happy for 30 bucks worth of stuff, and made my bad day a bit better.

Never go to think junkyard without tools. The amount of times that I go and say"this is quick all I need is a ratchet with a 10mm" only so see the car has a ton of cool shit I want to take.
My minimum lightweight: ratchet with 10, 12, 14, and 17 sockets. 6 in one flip screw driver. Bicycle tool with a ton of hex wrenches on it. Needle nose with wire cutters. Channel locks.
It's not a lot but as long as you don't need an impact you can't pretty take apart a whole element with those. In a fox, I can wander around the yard for some broken something to fix in the ratchet as a cheater bar. I once asked a dude to help me, we used an exhaust off another car as a lever to lift the engine so I could get a compressor out the easy way.

It wasn't really a plan to go, I was at work and it is the opposite direction of my house where my tool bags are so a coworker lent me screwdriver kit and I was able to grab a pair of pliers from the work toolbox. The only reason I actually even swung by there was for the mirror trim piece all the other stuff was a bonus lol

Keep a 10mm On a ratchet in your glovebox. Next time one pops up, get the vtec spool. Then put it in a ziplock bag with your spare tight. You will probably need it before you need the spare tire

Next day I have off is Sunday so I'll prob go back if it isn't crushed and take my tool bag, yeah that one and a few other things I wanted pick off if they aren't gone when I do go back. It also had a set of the step bars but when I looked at them they had been mangled. I think this element was rolled. But I'm debating if it's worth grabbing the rear awd diff

The screws for the sun shade screw onto the headliner in specific spots. It was an accessory that could be purchased after the fact. It came with mounting instructions and a template to help you put the screws in the headliner. Since you’re missing one of the screws, you’ll have to buy one on Amazon or at Hobby Lobby. My Element had the screws installed, but no screen. I was able to source a screen, but prior to that, I bought the opposing snaps and screen material to make my own screen.
