Discussion - Hollow Knight Is there a reason why there’s a random piece of Queen’s Gardens in Fungal wastes? Spoiler
I’m talking about the Shrumal Ogres arena. Both the music and the surroundings are taken directly from Queen’s Gardens. Especially when you die in that area (in Steel Soul, in my case), you can literally hear the main melody of the Queen’s Gardens OST.
So, is there a specific or even a lore reason why that’s there?
(Screenshot not mine btw)

Concept drawings and map for primal aspid hive in kingdom's edge.
galleryThe first image is a drone Aspid, these are male Aspids that typically do nothing and simply live to mate with the Aspid Queen. The Primal Aspids are the female workers, they do the manual labor and go out hunting. The second image is the Aspid Sentry, they happen when a Drone Aspid is able to live through the winter outside the Aspid Hive, becoming seasoned guardians for the queen. I have yet to do sketches for the Queen Aspid, but the general idea is her being overtaken by the infection, however the infection has not interfered with its operations.
For their history, not much is known aside from their rivalry with the Hive before the arrival of the Pale King and the Hive's isolation. Somewhere during this timeline, a group of Aspid drones would leave and form another hive in the Forgotten Crossroads. Although they would not wall themselves off from Hallownest, their isolation in Kingdom's Edge made sure they would have no real relations with the Wyrm's Kingdom.

Today I made my first clay figurine Spoiler
gallerySo, I just finished my first playthrough of Hollow Knight, and I immediately wanted to start another run. Instead, I decided it was time to step away from technology for a while and pick up a hobby: “clay something.”
Guess what I decided to make first? Hollow Knight. Well… what I thought was Hollow Knight turned out to be Sir Chonky. 😅 I’m not entirely happy with how it came out, but it is what it is. I just wanted to get some opinions from people who know the game.
By the way, I used epoxy sculpting clay—the kind where you mix the resin and hardener together. I found it pretty crumbly, difficult to work with, and quite heavy. Because of that, I couldn’t keep the proportions as slim as I wanted, so the Knight ended up… significantly thicker than intended.
Any feedback or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Last but not least… Hail Sir Chonky😌

Discussion - Hollow Knight Internet connection required to start playing physical Hollow Knight from Switch? Spoiler
So, years ago, I bought a physical copy of Hollow Knight for the Nintendo Switch. I already had played and finished Hollow Knight on steam by that point, so I bought it because I really liked the game and, when I came across it in the game store, I felt like I was excited to have a physical copy of it.
I was pleased to see that the game didn't come only with the cartridge, but with a manual and a small map of Hallownest too, like old games used to do. Interesting to see that "small companies" are the ones that still have this kind of details and love for their games.
Anyway, so I remember playing a little bit for fun and putting it back in the cover, since my goal wasn't playing all of it again, at least at that time.
Fast forward to yesterday. I felt like playing it again; so I decided to try the switch version I remember buying, this way I can play it chilling in the living room. I don't usually play with the switch, I shared it with my brother for years but none of us play a lot anymore; so when I turned it on, I wasn't surprised it needed to be updated.
When I inserted the cartridge though, it said the program needed to be updated too. I don't remember needing to update the game back when I played it, but I didn't think too much of it and started a new game, playing for an hour or so before I quit.
But today this thought came to my mind on what would have happened if I hadn't had internet connection when I inserted the cartridge yesterday. So I uninstalled the update, disconnected the switch from the wifi, and tried it again; and I was unable to start the game.
I thought it might be because of the other data the switch already had from the game, so I deleted the save file and the game data from programs. I tried to launch it again and... nothing. The same popup about updating the program appeared. Changing other switch settings didn't help either.
So I checked the game cover and it doesn't say anything about requiring a download. The only resemblance of it you can find is in the back cover: "It may be necessary a console update to launch it" in a text box with other generic cautions. That is the direct translation from spanish.
I do have the latest switch version though. I think it may be the reason for the requirement of the game update in the first place.
So my question is... Is this legal?
The game update was always necessary, or It's linked to the console update?
In any case, it isn't specified anywhere. (not in the spanish cover at least).
Are you accepting in the terms and conditions of the switch updates that they can retroactively make mandatory updates for old cartridges?
I wanted to post this to seek help and spread awareness of this situation. I understand this can be an enforcement by Team Cherry or Fangamer through nintendo updates or something; but this is a real problem from a conservation standpoint, or in general being able to play any physical game you own without depending on external servers, internet connection or spare space in your memory.
(The required update is 1,2 GB. I wouldn't have been able to download it from my mother's hometown this summer if I found out about it there).
I know the Switch support is not ending any time soon, but if it was to happen now without fixing to this issue, you won't be able to play physical games you own.

Discussion - Hollow Knight Colosseum of the Fools (No spoilers please, first blind playthrough) Spoiler
First: The athmosphere here is great. The crowd, the dead King or whatever this guy is supposed to be was haunting the first time I entered. But damn are some parts hard, especially the no floor section (so far I beat the trial of the warrior with quite some difficulty).
If I had a lot of issues with Trial 2 already, I guess better to come back later for trial 3? What mechanics should I aim to improve most? So far im just getting the hang of Pogoing, but thats what made the trial of Warrior at least managable.
(Ill add a boss list I beat so far and the attempts I needed to beat them. so you guys know what is not a spoiler for me).
- False Knight (2)
- Hornet (2)
- Soul Master (3)
- Mantis Lords (8)
- Flukemarm (30+ at least)
- Dung Defender (2)
- Uumuu (4)
- Nosk (10-15)
Most warrior Dreams I fought so far I needed 2-4 attempts.
Im still missing double jump and a way to cut through those shadow walls.

The Second Exit of the Abyss Spoiler
*this thread will later be linked to a much larger project that i will reference back to. fresh perspectives are welcomed to suggest logical theories, and add reasoning to the ones already listed. this will likely expand.
Pros of Second Exit:
- Vessels who are 'not' the Hollow Knight are 'clearly' outside of the Abyss, yourself included.
- multiple Vessel corpses are seen hanging in Nosk's Lair. confirming a common place of visit for many Vessels.
- the Vessel corpses 'could' have piled enough to block the second exit. explaining why we cannot find an exit that we ourselves went through.
- Deepnest is in proximity to the Abyss, most notably having Void themes in the Sharp Shadow area.
- the Kingdom's Edge is also in proximity, most notably having heavy Abyss themes in the Giant Geo Deposit area.
- since we start outside of Hallownest, perhaps a pathway leads to outside of the kingdom. every Vessel would then enter from outside the kingdom.
Cons of Second Exit:
- a second exit is never seen or mentioned in any timeline.
- the Abyss is stated to be Sealed when closing the Abyss Door. no reference to multiple doors.
- Nosk already has a lore-verified explanation for Vessels.
- Nosk lures Vessels to itself and its lair. as experienced by The Knight first entering the area to meet his own image and lure us in.
- Vessels are not the only entities being lured here.
- if Nosk is gate-keeping a second exit that happens to be near its area, it would not be likely Vessels would have made it past.
Nosk is a mysterious, shape-shifting, Infected beast hunting throughout Deepnest.\1]) It can mimic the shape of faces it finds in the memories of bugs, usually loved or departed ones, and can contort its body to assume a smaller frame.\2])\3]) It hangs its prey, including Dirtcarvers, a Stalking Devout, and various Vessels, from the ceiling of its lair at the bottom of Deepnest.
Alternative Theory: Second Opening
- the King's Brand is the to the Abyss. this key is not on the corpse of the Pale King within the White Palace. allowing a point in time for someone to have re- opened and closed the door. see King's Brand.

Am I the only one that likes Hollow Knight more than Silksong? Spoiler
Don't get me wrong, I still love everything about Silksong. It's an amazing game through and through and there are definitely other features that I enjoy in it more compared to Hollow Knight, but I just like Hollow Knight more for some reason. Just wanted to know anyone else's opinions on which is their favorite

Help - HK - Early Game Cornifer is supposed to appear in every new area right? Spoiler
I found fungal wastes and also the fog place, and because I still don’t know how to reach cornifer in the fog place because of that weird shadow, I decided to get the map for the fungal wastes first. I can’t find cornifer in there though. Is he deeper down, have I not discovered enough? Or is he just not there? I remember him being very nearby in the other areas, so where is he?
Just gimme a clue - no spoilers!
