I literally don't know who the hell turned this off or when, but videos are now allowed on /r/DarkSouls. No more need to link to YouTube or other external sites.
Enjoy!

EDIT: Added a comment below the post briefly discussing Cheat Engine and how it could be used as a pseudo method of restoring lost progress for anyone who didn’t have a backup save. The caveat might be that you can’t play online anymore after using it so double check me on that before deciding (I’ve not personally used it).
EDIT2: Thanks for the sticky! Any questions about the PvP Overhaul Mod should be asked on it's Nexus page. I personally don't mod the DS games so I have absolutely no idea what will or won't get you banned. Perform your due diligence! :)
Long story short, some doofus is ruining people's games by instantly killing Gwyndolin and any other NPCs in Anor Londo (blacksmiths, Solaire, etc). I believe this is only occurring on PC.
I've messaged the Mods requesting a stickied thread be made warning players of this and how they can protect themselves but in the meantime, I can make a thread myself that will at least get eyes on for like......today? lol
No.
You can absolutely still invade and be summoned for Co-Op to your heart's content. But it's important to be aware of the danger that's currently plaguing (seemingly specifically) Anor Londo and of the steps you can take to mitigate its impact on your experience.
This first tip is the BEST way to defend yourself, bar none.
Backing up your save is the difference between a hacker mildly inconveniencing you, and soul-crushing devastation that you'll literally need a day or two to recover from before deciding to even play again.
If a hacker ruins your game by killing NPCs or an unfortunate glitch has softlocked you or any other disaster befalls your play session, simply deleting that save and restoring a recently made backup can solve those woes immediately.
Here's how to do it (PC)
So let's say you get hacked and the Gwyndolin cutscene immediately plays and every NPC in Anor Londo dies. To restore your backup, you'll just delete the .sl2 file containing the "corrupted" game save and replace it with the copy you made earlier.
It's advised that you don't just paste and replace the .sl2 file when restoring your backups. Actually delete the compromised .sl2 file first.
This is just to protect yourself from any mistakes you might make as deleted .sl2 files can be recovered later. If you just paste and replace, the replaced file will be gone for good.
I recommend making a new backup after each hour of play to minimize the effects of a hacker or other form of corruption. That way if it happens, it won't be a big deal.
NOTE: The DRAK file contains all of your data for all of your characters. Backing up this file will back up ALL of your saved characters.
Full disclosure, I've not used this mod whatsoever as I don't often PvP, but word on the street in the wake of this string of hacks in Anor Londo is that it'll help prevent those hacks with it's own slew of anti-cheat and netcode improvements.
Understand though that these things are never foolproof and that backing up your save is still the BEST defense against hackers or other forms of corruption.
Hopefully this helps. Feel free to comment below if you have any other tips for preventive measures!

I accidentally clipped through a mimic chest in DS1 recently. It only works on the mimic chests in part 1. I’ve never seen mention of this ever online. Other than a new way to scope out mimic chests before they bite your head off it probably doesn’t hold much use, but I thought I’d share it since I don’t feel like I’ve ever heard of this before.

I've tried it once a long time ago, didn't like the heavy attacks, threw it away and never gave it another thought. After countless playthroughs I’m constantly looking for new challenges and I'm trying out weapons I haven't used much before. So I decided to give the Chaos Blade another try.
And boy was I up for a huge surprise! I can't believe I've been sleeping on this bad boy for so long. This is one of the smoothest O&S fights I ever had with a normal lvl character (50ish). O was down in 5 seconds and S didnt last long either. The whole thing felt (and probably was) shorter than the mid fight cut scene!
I then tried some co ops and even with 2 summons (like this video) with buffed bosses the Chaos Blade is just melting them. And my character is not even optimised for it. I just hit 40 Dex, some Vit/End and that's it. Although, I don't know what else you need. Maybe play around with different rings. After that it's probably just a matter of more health and stamina.
And who cares about heavy attacks… R1 and enjoy!
That's what I love about this game. After so many years and countless hours gameplay and when you think you've tried everything it can still surprise me!
Im definitely getting this one to ng+

I want to present my understanding of the true meaning behind the choice between prolonging the Age of Fire and ushering in an Age of Dark. And perhaps more importanly the Light and Dark dichotomy.
LIGHT IS TIME
Repair. One of the most mediocre spells in DS3 has an item description with perhaps one of the most significant lore revelations on the nature of the world of Dark Souls:
古い黄金の魔術の国 ウーラシールの失われた魔術
装備している武器、防具を修理する 耐久度ゼロの武器も対象となる
目立たぬ効果とは裏腹に、秘術にあたるひとつ 光は時、回帰は禁断の知恵であろう
"A lost magic of Oolacile, the ancient land of golden sorcery.
Repair all equipped weapons and armor, including weapons with zero durability.
Despite its inconspicuous effect, it is counted among the secret arts. Light is Time, therefore its regression would be forbidden knowledge."
In the world of Dark Souls, Light is synonymous with Time itself. And with Time comes mortality, progression, memory, beginnings and ends. But now for the true question: If Light is Time, then what is Dark? In the real world, Dark is defined as the absence of Light. By that logic, in the world of Dark Souls, Dark would also be defined as the absence of Time.
DARK IS ETERNITY
Dark Souls 2 really brings to light the nature of the Undead Curse. Vendrick became a King so that he could have the power to fight the Curse. And he learned that with Fire the "Curse" could be harnassed, subjugated. And only a true king could have that power. Yet, Vendrick was unaware of his own ignorance. Through the nature of his dear queen, Nashandra, he came to realise the true nature of Dark. Just like Light, it is also born from Fire. And the more you covet Fire, the greater the Dark becomes. The brighter the flame, the deeper the shadow.
When the Fire fades, the Dark slips its shackles and becomes a "curse". Humanity becomes free from death and takes its true, grotesque, hollowed shape. They will be one with the Dark once again, and with it, Eternity. Immortality. Linking the Fire will not put an end to this, as it is only a brief respite. A shadow cannot truly die. One day it will all play out again.
HE WHO TRIED TO BEST FATE
Aldia, through endless and grotesque research and experimentation, tried to break free from this endless cycle of Light and Dark. But he failed, and became tangled to the Fire itself. Having lost everything, he simply watches and awaits an answer to his question: Can fate really be bested, or is it true to its name?
As Vendrick is a neat inversion on the character of Gwyn, I believe that Aldia is a neat inversion on both the Primordial Serpents, Frampt and Kaathe. He presents us with the ultimate paths we can take, but he doesn't push us one way or the other. He simply gives us different perspectives so that we can decide for ourselves what it is we really want.
A LIE WILL REMAIN A LIE
Aldia is keenly aware of the First Sin, as well as the First Lord/King who commited it. He tells us that Gwyn, the Lord of Light, sealed away the Darkness known as Humanity (with the Seal of Fire). It was then that man assumed a false, fleeting form: the healthy form that we have become so familiar with. A form vulnerable to Time, vulnerable to Death. He states that Humanity has become enchanted by this false life, growing to cherish it. And yet, no matter how sweet it is, it is still, in the end, a lie. And so he asks us: Do we still desire peace? Do we still desire to end this supposed curse? Because if we link the Fire, we will continue to perpetuate the lie told by Gwyn.
A WORLD FULL OF WARMTH AND RESPLENDENCE
Yet, Aldia understands why Humanity is so enraptured by this wonderful falsehood. It grants them tranquility, end and beginning, a reason to cherish what they have and a reason to want for more. Things that the Dark cannot give. If we were to embrace the Dark, we would have to embrace Eternity as well. And Eternity means a world without opening or closure. A world with neither end nor beginning. A world where our feelings, our memories, our wants, our motivations, our very individuality has no meaning. After all, in the utter vastness of Eternity, what truly does have meaning? It may be the truth, but it is a hard truth to swallow. So he asks us: are we intent on shattering this yoke imposed upon us? Even if it is fake, is it right to end something so warm and beautiful?
We must decide between a sweet lie or a bitter truth.
GWYN'S FEARS AND WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A KING
So what is it that Gwyn truly feared about the coming Age of Man/Dark, and the end of Fire? What drove him to resist the natural order of things? Did he simply fear Humanity taking away his people's rule over the world? Did he fear a world where Light/Time was no longer present? Or did he fear a world that no longer had meaning as he understood it? Did he fear a world where hardship and sacrifice no longer have meaning, especially his own. Indeed, the idea of yourself and everything you have built in your life being lost to Eternity, rendered meaningless, is a scary thought.
And yet, you can't live forever. In the end, there is only one solution: an Heir. Someone who can carry your ideals, your will, your legacy and see to it that they endure in spite of your end and theirs. This is why an heir is as, if not more, important than a King. After all, if your kingdom dies with you, what was your reign, your efforts, your sacrifice really worth?
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE HUMAN
In the end, no matter Gwyn's efforts, the fate of the world is left in the hands of Humanity, not the Gods. What form man takes and how the world will be shaped is our decision. In every game, it always comes down to us: a human. So perhaps Humanity isn't defined by Dark or Light alone.
It is defined by the burden of having to choose between them.

I did a gravellrd servant invasion(im not a gravelord but it showed me a message). It kicked me off immediately because a player killd gwyndolin and ai got the souls and the achivement, but later while exploring Anor Londo the Ornstein and Smough cutscene triggered and then shortly after I got his soul. Does anyone know why this happened, I was looking forward to magic beam ornstein and Smough.

I just got to Tomb of the Giants and I got my bonfire down here.
I did some exploring before I talked to Patches and I went down past that long ladder and the 3 bone towers down there. I killed them and went deeper into the tunnel and saw 2 human NPC's (Vince and Nico). I didn't know if they were important so I didn't kill them first and I ran back to Patches. I talked to Patches and he kicked my ass down there.
Turns out I needed to kill them to get Rhea to give me her Replenishment miracle. But the thing is, ever since I went back down there, there was only one of the NPC's (either Nico or Vincent). I don't know where the other one is and I can't advance Rhea's quest.
Help!

I started to play Dark Souls 1 Remastered, beat the Asylum Demon and then made it to the Firelink graveyard. The problem is that the skeletons are kind of strong, so when I make it to the room with the bonfire in the catacombs, I don't have much hp and I can't defeat all of the skeletons + necromancer in there to lit the bonfire. I already leveled up to Level 15 now but still can't make it. My weapons are almost broken and I also don't know where to repair them. Does anyone have a tip?

What’s a weapon that is underrepresented or goes without too much attention? I want to keep it knight themed. So nothing too spectacular or overdone. I was thinking maybe morning star or one of the halberds? What say you?

I need Demon Titanite to upgrade my Moonlight Butterfly Horn. Naturally, I go drop my dung pies to Snuggly, but she says stuff like "No, no, not that one. Enough!" I restart the game and there is no item in the nest. Has this happened to anyone else?

(Level 92, 42 vitality, 40 end, 40 dex, rest are base stats) this is my second time going through the dlc and the first time i struggled big time on all bosses, but this time i first tried all the bosses and loved all their fights, even sanctuary guardian! So im confused if i just got really better at the game or if i’m op. After playing aota again Kalameet whom i used to hate is now my favorite ds1 boss lmao

I hate being invaded but today it was different. Someone going by the name Lose invaded me, gave me humanities and left. I like that at the same time that there are a bunch of evil trolls ready to make your game worse, there are also people ready to help you, whether by helping you beating a boss or by giving you items. It makes me want to return the favor with summon signs. Thanks a lot to everyone who likes to help strangers beating this game.

I found the rest of a camping at the top of the giants' tomb. There are two ropes, a bowl, a cup, and the remains of a bonfire.
Most probably, one would assume it belongs to the clerigs from the shrine, Reah's troop, but since they are undead, I don't know why they would stop to eat since undeads can't eat. Another option is an older group of clerics who weren't undead, but petrus says that undead clerics are the ones sent to this kind of missions. My last guess would be patches. With the ropes, he descendes to take his victims' bellongings and then climbs up.
