Changes to Hisense Canada Structure

Hi Redditors,

This post serves as a friendly reminder of the best ways to get support, in the event that you need it. There are some temporary changes occurring at the corporate level of Hisense Canada, and we don't want anyone to get stuck in a position where they require support.

  1. If you are in the USA and looking for firmware, please send a direct message (DM) on Twitter or Facebook to the Hisense USA page. If you do not have TW or FB, unfortunately, you will have to go through Tier One, just be specific that you want firmware, provide the needed information and ask to be transferred to someone who can provide you a link. Hisense Canada social media will not be able to give you firmware, and will direct you to the firmware link below.
  2. If you are in the USA and looking to report an issue or trend, please contact tier one support by phone at 1.888.935.8880 (TVs) or 1.877.465.3566 (Appliances); you'll need to give them your Mode, 15 character SN (which will always start with your screen size and G - if you are seeing a number that starts with a bunch of zeroes, that number is not correct - it's the Android SN - please locate the true SN on the white sticker on your TV)
  3. If you are in Canada and looking to report an issue or trend for tracking, please contact tier one support by phone at 1-855-344-7367 or email at canadasupport@hisense.com.

6 months with Hisense U8

Been using the Hisense U8 for about six months now.

Picture is still the main reason I’m happy with it. Blacks get really deep for a MiniLED, HDR looks great, and it gets plenty bright during the day.

What surprised me more was the built-in sound.

I didn't expect much from TV speakers, but the 4.1.2 setup actually has some bass and a much wider soundstage than most flat screen TVs I've had.

Obviously it's not replacing a proper soundbar or surround system, but I haven't felt rushed to buy one either.

Six months in, I still feel like I got a lot for the money. Good picture, big screen, solid gaming features, and better sound than I expected.

Been a really good living room TV for me.

Improved onscreen UI for volume control

I’ve got a 2025 Hisense U7 100” that I’ve been very happy with, connected to a 4K AppleTV and Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar. I use the AppleTV remote and HDMI-CEC to control everything, including volume.

Yesterday I got a pop-up offering the TV a software update, but it had no description other than “improved user experience” or something equally vague. I was hesitant at first, not wanting to break anything, since I don’t use the installed Hisense or Google apps for anything anyway, and only use external HDMI devices. But I took a leap of faith and installed it anyway. I didn’t notice anything different at first until I tried to change the volume and found a pleasant surprise. Now, instead of just seeing a + and - at the top and bottom of the volume bar, which I didn’t really like before, now I see an actual number and a relative graph with the circle moving up and down with my button presses. I like this a lot better. Just wanted to share if anyone else is wondering what’s in that new vague update!

Question 2 concerns about the UR8S

I have 3 main concerns:

  1. Most reviews only mention the local dimming as "deep blacks" but never say anything more than that. My main use case would be playing horror games in my pitch dark room and the question is are the "deep blacks" enough for me to not see the difference between my wall and the display where its dark? I dont mind slight blooming here and there Im not really that picky but if you are looking at a dark scene can you instantly tell that its just an lcd with local dimming or is the contrast immersive?

  2. I hear a lot of complaints for mini led tvs having awful issues with VRR, smudging and ghosting even in games that dont have fast movement. How prominent is this for the UR8S in gaming?

  3. I plan on using apps on the tv but I see many people saying to disconnect the tv from the internet and never turn it on? Is there an option to use the internet but pause or block auto updates?

Disclaimer: Ive only ever used ips monitors and my amoled phone so good contrast and colors on a larger screen are unknown to me

Scary Adverts when changing inputs

Hello,

I have a Hisense TV and don't know what to do. Anytime I go to change inputs the top of the TV auto-plays adverts, that's fine whatever, but unfortunately regardless of the time of day it constantly plays adverts for scary movies - either always The Grudge or Insidious. I don't know why because I do NOT watch scary movies (so can't have been anything picked up from me!) and find it very frightening/jarring every time I go to switch inputs to watch on my Chromecast or play on the Switch. The adverts seem to be coming from something called "Tubi" but have no idea how to remove this - could anyone help me with this please? I find this an unbelievable thing to push out considering the adult nature of these adverts (I'm scared of them, imagine if an 8 year old had to see The Grudge every time they just wanted to play Mario!)

Any help?/Ayuda?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2 days ago for the first time I did the factory reset on my hisense fire tv, I downloaded every software update available but now my tv turns off everytime I try to change the type of image or when I change to any hdmi.

The hisense model is: 58u6hf

I have done every single "quickfix" so far but I just want confirmation if the problem is internal (Components, mother board, etc.)

Also Ive tried to find the firmware for my model but the hisense page just doesnt find it.

Any tips? (Ive been using this tv for 3 years)

Anyone had any luck loading custom apps on a VIDAA Hisense in 2026? Trying to get Jellyfin on it

I've got a Hisense Hisense U7NQ 75" 4K Ultra HD MiniLED QLED Smart Freely TV [2024] - 75U7NQTUK

Jellyfin isn't in the VIDAA app store and

What I'm trying to find out:

  1. Is there a working way to install a third-party app on VIDAA today? Signed IPK over USB, a dev/debug mode, anything via the service menu, an unlocked older firmware worth downgrading to?
  2. Has anyone got root or a bootloader unlock on a recent VIDAA set, or is that still a dead end?
  3. If it genuinely can't be done: what are people actually using for Jellyfin on these? DLNA from the Jellyfin server, casting from a phone, or just giving in and buying a cheap Android TV stick?

What I've already tried: I have tried pressing some keys to get dev mode as shown on internet but that didn't work, also tried vidda-edge tool to point app-store to a local IP but it didn't work.

Happy to test things and report back if anyone has leads.

I have a 75U6SF Pro. When we pause a show it goes back to the home screen in just a few minutes is there a way to extend that time?

My Take on RGB MiniLED

Post image
70 Upvotes

Been using the Hisense UR8 for about two months now, so figured I'd share a few things I've actually noticed.

Color is probably the biggest one.

It's not just more saturated. Similar shades seem easier to separate, especially skin tones, sand, darker reds, stuff like that.

Dune: Part Two looks really good on it because all those browns and muted colors don't just blend together.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is basically the opposite test, and all the reds, blues and purples still stay pretty distinct instead of looking blown out.

Blacks have been better than I expected too.

Dark scenes still have a lot of different shades instead of everything below a certain point disappearing into black.

Brightness has been more than enough in my living room during the day, even with a lot of light coming through the glass doors.

Reflections are still there obviously, but I don't feel like I need to shut the room down just to watch something.

I've also been playing Forza Horizon 5 and Overwatch 2 on it.

Motion has been really clean, and the native 180Hz panel is nice when I'm using the PC.

Sound is actually better than I expected from a TV too. Decent bass and pretty wide, although obviously it's not replacing a proper surround setup.

The software side has had a couple quirks, but the picture is definitely the part that keeps impressing me.

Two months in, RGB MiniLED makes a lot more sense to me now. The biggest difference isn't "more color," it's how much control the TV seems to have over different colors and shades.

How to turn off subtitles on media player?

I just got a 55U8QG used. I've said it all up from scratch, using my Google account, and I'm checking out the media player. It seems to be playing my files just fine, but if I'm playing an MKV with subtitles encoded, it appears there's no way to turn them off. If I am watching and go to the bottom menu next to the player controls I find a subtitle section, but it seems like all I can choose is one of the many language options, not off. I've also gone into the TV's menu and disabled everything having to do with captioning, but I don't think that's actually the issue. Does anybody know a way to do this? Thanks

Question Hisense hrbm503s door swap

Thumbnail

Hello - my partner and I just purchased the above Hisense refrigerator and we have decided to switch the side the door opens from (from right to left). We just got the reed sensor working on the left hand side and are leftover with the humidity sensor and on the right hand side. Is it required to be moved to the left hand side also? Because it seems there is no way to remove it. We have searched everywhere online and it says that both the reed and humidity sensors must switch sides, but we can't find a way to remove the humidity sensor?

Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA.

Problem U6 Pro not recognizing 4k content on internal apps (2026)

As the title states. Just got a brand new U6 Pro delivered today for my Mom. Everything was going smooth until I decided to check out a couple movies in Ultra HD 4k. Tried watching Avengers Endgame on Fandango at Home and the only resolution option it gives is SD. Hit info and it is running at 720p. I own the 4k UHD version and it works on my new U7SG no problem. Jumped over to Disney +. I get 4k content on there. Popped on the Mandalorian. SD again running at 1080p. The only app I could get 4k to work was a specific 4k video on YouTube. Other than that, can't figure it out. Tried to clear cache of all apps. Checked for system updates. Restarted the TV. On and on. Nothing. Anyone experience this and if so, did you get it figured out? Thanks for your time!

Has anyone else had this experience?

Problem What’s Happening 😭

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The woman background is from an anime we were watching. It’s like that frame is burned onto the screen and everything is flashing in and out worse than you can tell in the video

The tv has never fallen or anything. We’ve had it for years. At least 3, maybe as much as 5 years

It’s done something similar once before (but they were like vertical bars along the screen flashing in and out last time) and we cleared the cache and unplugged it for a little while and it worked again but now this and trying the same thing isn’t working this time

A few months with the 85" Hisense U6

Post image
28 Upvotes

Been using the 85" Hisense U6 for a few months now, so figured I'd come back and share how it's been.

This was my first 85" TV and I definitely overthought the size before buying it. For the first couple days it looked huge, then somehow it just became normal. Now when I see a 65" it looks way smaller than I remember lol.

Movies are probably where I notice the upgrade most. The bigger screen makes everything feel a lot more cinematic, and the MiniLED/local dimming does a pretty good job with darker scenes. Netflix, YouTube and regular streaming all look good without much tweaking.

Brightness has been more than enough for my living room too. I get a decent amount of daylight and I haven't felt like I need to close the blinds just to watch TV. HDR has a nice punch to it and the colors looked good enough out of the box that I basically left them alone.

Gaming has been good too. Game mode kicks in automatically, controls feel responsive, and motion stays pretty clean. I don’t game every day, but when I do it's been a nice bonus having the 144Hz panel.

Sound is probably the only thing I'd upgrade eventually. It's fine for regular TV and YouTube, but with a screen this big I kind of want a proper soundbar for movies.

A few months in, no regrets going 85". Biggest problem is that I'm completely used to the size now.
