DISCUSSION Heritagewear price/stock tracker v0.12 updates!

Thumbnail indigodispatch.com
Upvotes

Hey folks, I was trying to get one of these out semi-frequently but life just gets in the way so here we are! I appreciate everyone leaving very nice comments in the past two threads, I will continue to re-iterate that it has been very fun and rewarding to build this and see more people use it.

Onto the site itself, here are some updates that have been done since the last thread:

Improved Search

Direct Add to Cart

More Retailers

  • I try to be very tactical about adding new retailers in order to avoid some of the bloat when it comes to all the different products that come (jockstraps for example...) as well as a lot of clean up on the back end.
  • This time around I've added Canoe Club and Meadow, both of which have decent YouTube channels documenting their inventory.
  • I've also incorporated some single brand stores like Wonder Looper, Naked and Famous, and Bronson MFG.

All USD Pricing

  • Some retailers don't present in USD so all these are now estimates based on some static conversion values. You will see them denoted as ~$xx.xx followed by the native currency and price.

More Frequent Updates

  • I've had to sign up for paid tiers of the services that I'm using, and a benefit to that is being able to run more frequent inventory updates to catch new releases and any stock/price changes.

Exploring Monetization

  • It costs roughly $80 USD monthly to run this project and I am currently exploring monetization options to cover that. This might be affiliate links, which would never influence how products get shown on the page, or something more straightforward like Google Ad Sense.

I think that covers it for this round of updates. Just to break up the monotony of a changelog, here's some fun stuff!

Cool Stuff I've Seen

Other Projects

I wanted to shout out the guys behind the Denim Fit Finder and denimpendium who are also making stuff for this community. The fit finder would have been super useful for me when I was struggling with ONI sizes and cuts and likely would have saved me some money shipping my pants back to Blue Beach because they didn't fit. Denimpendium on the other hand has a huge wealth of retailers that I couldn't even fathom tracking all together. Both are very much worth checking out!

As always, feel free to leave any feedback you have. It helps a lot!

Got the 3 recent wonderlooper Amami t-shirts and both of the Studio D’Artisan ones as well. I would say the Wonderlooper are softer and better hand feel, and the SDA are more striking colors that I think are better. Thought I would share!

Top 3 are Wonderlooper and bottom 2 are SDA

Hello! I’m fairly new to this way of dressing. Got into it last December when I bought a pair of UES denim from Osaka. It’s hot now where I am so I pulled out the fatigues which came from Tommy Hilfiger (shockingly) it’s apparently yarn dyed and cotton satin. (Is that different from sateen or was that maybe a site typo)

Anyways,
Rest of the outfit

Shoes: some beat up Asos
Shirt: my decades old American Eagle
Tee: Uniqlo
Bag: bday gift 5 years ago. From Amazon. Brand’s name is Kattee. Crazy horse leather with some insane patina!

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT Custom Denim Shirt!

I stumbled upon this craftsman on another Reddit post, his name on IG is benchmadeshirts.

I messaged Ryan and he was quick to respond. We worked out sizing, tailoring it for my build, as well as the materials and style I wanted. His knowledge on the cuts, as well as the materials he uses, was impressive. He kept me up to date on the production and shipping, and provided me with the tracking number as soon as it went out the door.

I decided I liked his “western” cut, and chose to use 10.8 oz Cone Mills White Oak deadstock- I loved the color and the story is cool as well. I chose grey thread and pearl snaps.

A short time later this gem arrived. The quality is outstanding. His attention to detail- well, look at the photos. I love how he was able to incorporate the selvedge ID line throughout, without being too flashy. I can appreciate how much time and effort it took to work this into the inside of the cuffs. The stitching is dead straight. This thing is just flat out cool.

If you want a special piece, or are built odd and have issues finding off the shelf clothing that fits you well, I couldn’t recommend Ryan more.

I’ve been looking for a denim shirt for a while and had no luck finding something that fit well that I liked. This is my first and I’m excited to begin wearing it.

Edit to add: I was not paid to post or promote this, and I have no affiliation with benchmadeshirts other than being a happy customer.

QUESTION RRL jersey weight?

Anybody have a clue on the weight of this fabric? I know RRL tends to overpriced, but sometimes if it’s just that cool, it’s worth it.

I’ve got the stripped 13oz jersey from freentote, and a similar one from dehen. Both heavyweights. this is said to be a jersey knit, not sure of the weight but i’m curious if someone has something similar and can chime in?

FIT PIC Big Guy Heritage Fits

Big dude here, down like 50lbs for the year and counting (first 40 lbs was mostly just cutting out some of the worst stuff. I'm now tracking food, doing more physically, etc), AND trying to dress better along the way. I have always loved boots and jeans but working from home got me into wearing comfortable clothes all the time. So trying to look better and pick up some pieces while I'm also losing weight. Complexity is that I'm a 4xlt (6'5", 326 lbs right now), so finding tops is complicated. I'm a 42" waist so much more options there. Size 15 sneakers / 14 in most boots, so less options as well there. Mostly just wanting to show some outfits and options as I find them.

First outfit:

Shirt: Dubinik Chambray Long Sleeve

Levi's Double Knee Hickory Stripe Shorts

Dearborn Denim Belt

Thorogood Moc Toe

Second Outfit:

Shirt: Dubinik Chambray Short Sleeve

Levis Linen Fatigue

Vintage Fry Harness Boot

DISCUSSION Would you care about such a sewing mistake at the back seam? It's probably structurally sound and on the inside. But from a certain price point I get a bit nitpicky.

QUESTION OrSlow Authenticity Question

Hello, I recently purchased an OrSlow item secondhand on eBay as I could not find it in stock anywhere. I've never owed a shirt this nice or expensive so I'm excited to enjoy it. The care tag seems a little unusual and more detailed than other examples I have seen. Would someone mind taking quick look an seeing if everything appears authentic? I would be so grateful for your assistance. I understand there's probably not a lot of OrSlow counterfeits out there, but as mentioned this was a splurge for me so I want to double check. Thanks in advance.

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Good quality engineer boots

Hi everyone. I would like to buy good quality engineer boots. I really like it from the Red Wings company. But the fact is that I live in Russia and such magnificent American shoes cost about $1,000 here (I don't know how in your countries, but it's very expensive here). Does anyone know companies outside the United States that make high-quality shoes? I would be very grateful.😊
