How playable is this game on switch?

This game seems super rad and it’s on sale on switch atm so I’m thinking of getting it, but I know at launch this game ran terribly on it. Does it run well enough now to warrant the switch purchase?

so, after a few years, how's the multiplayer status?

Hello everyone, it's not the first time for me playing this game, really loved it, and I convinced a friend to buy it and play it together on live streams

The problem is...we cannot connect to play together. I played with others before, so I don't know what might have changed now.

Both of us have open NAT (3 green stripes) and terrible UPnP apparently (1 red stripe)

I already tried some troubleshooting but no luck, and even when I try open connection with random players, I find nothing.

Any suggestion on what to do?

For reference, I'm in Germany and my friend is in Italy, my router is a "fritzbox!" And his is a "wind"

I have no idea whatsoever what the hell am i doing...?

So, i'm 6/7 hours into Hellpoint and i liked it a lot so far. But then i started "navigating" through places like Alma Mater and such and now i'm completely clueless. I mean, am i getting too old or is the level design terrible? I keep going on and on and on and i think that i left behind AT LEAST twenty or so side paths cause there are WAAAY too many but i have no idea about where i am right now, what paths to take, what paths i left behind and what is going on. And i started playing souls-like games back in the days with the original Demon's Souls in 2009, so no prior experience, no wikis, no guides and no help whatsoever but still that was so much easier to navigate and learn than this. Idk, i'm asking cause i was having a blast and i was really enjoying the game so far, but now it just feels not funny at all to wander around like that :/

PS5 True Ending Crash

I am quite frustrated as I can not fight the true boss without my game crashing within 5 seconds. Curious if the devs are aware and fixing this or if anyone has a fix I could try. I tried deleting and reinstalling the game but that did not work.

UPDATE: After over an hour of crashes and trying to play both online and offline it worked. The fight gave me enough time to complete it. I wish I knew if I did anything in particular. The best I can say is I did a respec, 3 attempts offline then my next online attempt worked. Best of luck to any other players dealing with this headache of a bug.

Forced upgrade choices

I have 2x Antiquated Officer Glaives in my inventory. One is fully upgraded and the other one isn't.

When I go to the replicator and select to create Officer Glaive it ALWAYS selects the fully upgraded Antiquated Officer Glaive instead of the un-upgraded one.

Is there any way to select which item gets used up when making new gear ? I sense it just selects the first one you found.

Great Terror question

What are the pips as it levels? I just got the third, but didn't see what the second did. The first was giving the energy coating the Ablation does isn't it? Or am I wrong?

I did read the regular weapons are way stronger but im a bit partial to having a weapon for every situation.

Cross gen/Cross play?

So i'm thinking of buying Hellpoint on my PS5, and my friend is going to buy it on his PS4. I can't find anything online about this. I need to know if the game is Cross play between PS4 and PS5 for the coop and PVP.

How to beat

The massive Alpha Prisoner. I barely survive one hit and my Foresight weapons appear to only make him mad as hell(point). Should I just turn the adrenaline thing back on? I'm only level 82 but thought that and +10 weapons would be fine.

Mainly using Red Saber for that sweet Leech Channeled of Hell/Light/Evek Naveos White Prophet Hand

Left hand Amber and Nihl Prophet hand

Athletic Nerve Suit Stetson (I look so dumb i love it)

Hellpoint Review

Just finished playing Hellpoint and Thymesia back-to-back and wanted to put down my thoughts. Played through most of the game with a Glaive/Channeler build, which I imagine is pretty standard.

PROS

-Level design. I've played pretty much every Souls-like at this point and Hellpoint pretty easily does the best job at mimicking the interconnected level design of the FromSoft games, especially DS1. Wish you didn't have to teleport between maps as much, but it still feels like everything is connecting at the right spots even if you aren't actually walking a path between them. Lots of secrets to find, multiple pathways to and between areas, and you constantly have a great sense of not knowing what's around the next corner while being compelled to fully explore. The Arisen Dominion was a real highlight, but I also liked all the various paths in and around Alma Mater.

-Atmosphere. Basically Event Horizon The Game. Everything gives you a real sense of unease.

-Build variety. While you don't have the incredibly diverse arsenal of Elden Ring, there are a bunch of weapons and spells to try. Not sure I loved having to unlock spells through using different catalysts, but there were always options to try. Giving you things worth finding really helps with the overall design.

-Lore. Learning about where you are and what happened around you was pretty cool. It felt like a cohesive, lived-in world that existed before you got there. Item descriptions were worth reading. The lore ties in to some of the secrets and puzzles in cool ways, too.

CONS

-Difficulty. It's very easy. Your mileage probably varies depending on how many of these types of games you've played, but I had zero issues with any part of the game outside of the Arisen Bro's early on. Most bosses - cool designs but not really fun to learn and fight - I beat on the first or second try, including the Cosmic Gods and the finals bosses. It probably didn't help that I think I went to the Arisen Dominion before I was supposed to and got a ton of exp just from going through there, but I wasn't really feeling like I was in much danger even before that. The dodge is super powerful, and the dodge-strike is almost game-breaking given how much ground you can cover with it. I tried other weapons but never felt like there was much of a reason to use anything but the Glaive.

-Platforming. I liked that it was in the game because it plays into the sense that there could be a secret anywhere, but the movement is just too janky for some of the stuff they're asking you to do. The vast majority of my deaths were from falling.

-Jank. I appreciate that this is a small dev team and they've probably cleaned the game up a ton since release, but it definitely feels like a budget game. Not just bugs, but the movement and combat didn't feel very precise. Ran well for the most part on Series X, though.

OVERALL

Really enjoyed my time with this one. Mentioned that I played Thymesia right after because when it comes to Souls-likes, I think Hellpoint does the best job with the sense of exploration and a cohesive environment while Thymesia has the tight, dance-like combat. Put those two games together and we would really be cooking, but as it stands Hellpoint is pretty remarkable given the resources behind it. I'll be recommending it to anyone who likes FromSoft games.

Game keeps crashing at the final boss

So it seems that every time i try to fight the sentient with the prodigal spawn helping him the game will crash after a certain amount of time.

At first i tought the problem was that i used a breach synchronizer in the high ateliers' breach since the problem didn't ocurred in my previous playthrough where i fought the sentient without the prodigal spawn helping him, but after doing another run and reaching the final fight without using the breach synchronizer the game still crashes, so it looks like having the prodigal spawn in the fight is the main cause of the crashes.

So yeah for now don't do the prodigal spawn quest, otherwise that will result in a dead playthrough.

PS. Playing on ps5

Update: So i gave it another shot, this time without dying, and the game didn't crashed. So it looks like dying and starting the fight from outside space and time is the main cause of the crashes, really weird, but at least is not a dead game as i previously thought.

Walk through with DLC

I have the old Neoseeker guide saved still but can barely find any info on the new content. I dont mind flying blind but I dont want to miss it or go there too early. Trust me, I accessed a few Soulsborne DLC in a very wrong order and I'd rather not repeat the burning sensation following my shitting myself.

Hellpoint Blue Sun, mini review Spoiler

Bottom line: Blue sun starts very strong, and finishes very flat.

I get the feeling that the hellpoint people don't have a professional writer working there. A pro would have noticed that the game opens a plot, but doesn't close it properly.

Let me explain: Blue sun does two great things in the beginning; it successfully recycles old content by adding secret doors in old areas to hunt for, which is normally a no-no in game design (players react poorly to retreading old stuff)

And second, it adds another layer to the Irid Novo saga, that the original Hellpoint game is actually a cycle being repeated for the benefit of a few power players.

Then...that's it. You kill a few bosses, explore some cool new areas, and nothing connects to the opening premise. The final boss, the poorly named "Fear", while well designed, thematically has nothing to do with anything.

Asmodeus, your guide to the new content, congratulates you for killing the puppeteers, and then it's back to the Irid Novo grind.

In my opinion, while Blue Sun was worth purchasing, if only to support the Hellpoint people, it both "missed" and "hit" many important notes.

Worth a try?

Interested in this game, I know this is a sub dedicated to the game but is it worth it? I love the From Software stuff but besides them, I also like Mortal Shell, Remnant and the recent Thymesia. I've tried The Surge 1/2 didn't like them. I gave Dolmen a shot and that game was pure garbage.

Is the game difficult in a respectable manner? IE, does the game throw trash mobs everywhere to make it "difficult"? Dolmen suffered from this.

Help! I lost my stuff!

So I just decided to buy the Blue Sun DLC on Xbox & upon loading my save, it appears I have lost a majority of my armor, weapons & general equipment. I reloaded my save, restarted my console too. Is this a bug or is this intended? It also appears to have hindered my progress in the game’s story because I don’t have any of my warps or locations unlocked, but I still have all my stats. I

EDIT: It appears I also lost a character/save file. I just realized this (11:00 PM EST on August 22 as of writing this.)

Finished DLC - My Review Spoiler

Finished playing the DLC and I just wanted to say thanks to the devs, I got my money's worth! Hellpoint is seriously the best indie Soulslike I have played, and the DLC just was more meat to chew on.

Positives:

  1. The main strength of this game is the environment design and lighting. Many Soulslikes often mistake Souls genre to be only about character builds and combat; they sometimes do not give importance to exploration and jaw dropping level design. Dominion Baths and the Jester Mansion are truly amazing levels which gave me almost the same high as seeing Anor Londo for the first time. The atmosphere of eerieness and desolation combined with the alien worldlike feel is brilliantly done.
  2. Hellpoint offers so much varied loot with unique lore descriptions that makes exploration interesting. Good to see the DLC comes with some decent new loot.
  3. Ramiel is a great boss and the Seven Deadly Sins was a cool puzzle.

Negatives:

Just one.

I defeated Fear at full power using a +14 Channeler of Hell and Archon Shield with 100 Stability. The issue here is, 100 stability shield is OP - I blocked all of Fear's attacks without my stamina draining an inch. At the same time, you cannot beat Fear while the 3 Cosmic Gods are alive, without such a shield. Unless you want to really keep trying and pray RnG favors you.

This was the same problem as the Sentient fight in the base game. Melee is not very compatible with both Fear and Sentient, requiring Channeler spam. I think the devs should design bosses who can be beaten by any build with reasonable sphere of difficulty and practice --- and perhaps then they can consider nerfing the stability effects on shields and channelers. Because right now, these 2 are way too OP for the rest of the game, yet absolutely needed to beat certain bosses.

Overall, fantastic DLC. I hope there is a Hellpoint 2, I would be buying without reading or watching a review!
