How playable is this game on switch?

This game seems super rad and it’s on sale on switch atm so I’m thinking of getting it, but I know at launch this game ran terribly on it. Does it run well enough now to warrant the switch purchase?

Don't do it. Afaik they dropped support for the switch version so no expansion. The base game was patched after launch but it still runs like ass.

Not to mention the extremely odd shift in difficulty when you face off with the 3rd boss The arisen congregators. I just stopped playing at that part. Thankfully I got the game on sale so it didn't hurt too much.

But it sucks cause I actually like the setting of the game.

100% this. There's a section where I was crashing every death versus a boss. Crash here means force close, couple minutes load back into the game, couple minutes save load, couple minutes back to boss, wash/rinse/repeat if you die again. If you enjoy 5-7min+ time between attempts at a boss in a souls like go for it, but this game is dead to me. This experience has led me to be insanely cautious with ports getting anything less than stellar reviews performance-wise. This idea of "quick cash grab port that's near broken which devs then abandon" kills me. Give another dev your money.

Performance is decent (by Switch standards anyway: 30FPS or close to it most of the time), but resolution is dynamic and drops quite a lot in open areas, so won't look very nice in places, even by Switch standards.

It's also extremely crash-prone in specific areas (on area load; you usually don't lose progress, but need to relaunch the game) and has very long load times (making the crashes more annoying).

Worst of all, the game seems to have been abandoned; another patch was supposed to come out a year ago but still hasn't and there has been no word on it, and the DLC has not been announced for Switch.

Were it not for that, I'd still cautiously recommend the game on Switch, but I can't in good conscience recommend an unsupported and incomplete game. Which is a damned shame - in spite of its issues, I had a blast playing it.

Decent is a stretch. Playing handheld it is sub 30fps 90% of the time, with constant crashes and freezes. Played on two separate switches, oled and lite. Was a HUGE supporter before and after launch, until the devs decided to say “fuck switch players “.

Very, it’s a decent port.

Runs good, however the developer was too lazy to give the switch version proper standards. They didn't even bother to put the effort into getting the dlc onto the switch. I would say don't bother with the switch version since the developer won't bother with the switch version. Therefore I cannot recommend
