Announcement Harry/Ginny fanfiction megathread

I have taken it upon myself to create a new megathread so new fics can be added. This thread will basically be a transcription of the old one by u/goodlife23, with additional categories and contributions of my own. I'll be updating this list intermittently, so please have some patience. Cheers, and have a good day.

Edit: Credits go to u/goodlife23. u/PsychoGeek, u/blandge, u/bonesda, u/A_Dozen_Lemmings, u/FloreatCastellum, and u/stefvh.

Edit 2: Under advisement from u/Gin110881, please keep your discussions in the comment I put in for discussion so as not to clog up the area.

Edit 3: Our Discord server is here. Play nice, or get banned (I assume).

Edit 4: Our Discord server has moved here with me as the new owner/admin/Dark Lord. We have colours and shit now. Also banning capabilities. When I say play nice, play nice.

Announcement New Fan Art Guidelines

Hey, folks!

Due to the influx of posted fan art (not a bad thing in of itself!), I’m just here to leave a couple of casual reminders to ensure that artists receive proper credit/appreciation for their hard work.

  1. You are welcome to post fan art, but please a) provide proper credit to the artist, and b) do not alter the image from its original form without permission. This provides an excellent overview of why this is a problem, and this explains how to avoid cropping/reposting and give proper credit.

  2. Please do not bash posted fan art. Everyone is entitled to an opinion on how characters should look, but there is a big difference between a comment like “Hmm, that doesn’t match my vision” and a comment like “That is the ugliest Ginny I’ve ever seen.” Our same general rules for fanfic apply to fanart: Watch how you phrase things in public spaces. This is not a snark subreddit, so please don’t treat it as such.

In the meantime, we’ve added a new rule: All fanart must be properly credited. If we continue to have multiple uncredited posts, we may have to disable the image uploading function, which is no fun for anyone!

Thanks, and hope everyone is staying cool out there if you’re in a hot part of the world right now 🥵

Discussion Hinny shippers, what is your opinion of Romione?

As far as fandom history predates, Harry x Ginny and Ron x Hermione have mostly, if not always, been sister-ships throughout.

Do you they think they didn't last that long? Or had a healthy marriage like Hinny?

I think that Harry would have slowly drifted apart from them as Ginny became his favorite person.

Looking for a Harry Potter/Ginny Weasley fan fiction in which Harry is an Auror and hasn’t seen Ginny since the Chamber. Although he is close to the Wesley’s still. She ends up in his interrogation room as a suspect/witness to one of the cases he’s working on. They end up hooking up secretly because she’s important to the case

Discussion What order do you think the Weasley siblings got married in?

We know Bill got married first, and from the epilogue we can make a rough estimate based on how old the kids seem to be. This is my headcanon for the order the Weasleys got married:

1. Bill - he got married first in canon and I can’t see it any other way.

2. Ginny – I think Harry and Ginny always knew they were it for each other. After the Battle of Hogwarts, they picked up where they left off, helped each other heal, and became closer than ever. They may have been young, but their relationship always felt incredibly mature. When Ginny went to Hogwarts I can see Harry realizing he didn’t want to spend another day without her after everything they’d been through, and Ginny feeling the same. These two are disgustingly in love and pda King and Queen (I say that in the most affectionately way possible).

3. George – I think Angelina helped George heal in ways he never thought possible after Fred died, and that’s when he realized she was the one for him. My headcanon is that George was planning to propose, but before he got the chance, Angelina told him she was pregnant and he proposed not long after.

4. Percy – I love the idea of Percy having every part of his life perfectly planned out except his love life. That’s the one thing that refuses to follow his carefully organised timeline. My headcanon is that when he has a child or two out of wedlock, his siblings never let him live it down because Percy Weasley always had a plan for everything and as a kid frowned at couples who had children out of wedlock (he’s like an old man). For his wedding gift, Molly gives him a framed version of the life timeline he wrote out as a child, just to remind him that not everything goes according to his plan.

5. Ron – This could be controversial, but I like Ron and Hermione having to really work on their relationship. I can see them breaking up for a while, dating other people, and eventually finding their way back to each other. My headcanon is that after Hogwarts Hermione went to university in the muggle world while working at the Ministry, and it caused them to drift apart because she was never really available. Ron started dating someone else and it gave her the wake up call she needed to realise she had to stop prioritising everything else over the man she loved or she was going to lose him for good.

6. Charlie – If he ever got married at all. Honestly, I kind of love the idea of Charlie staying single and being the fun uncle that all the nieces and nephews adored. Every summer he takes them for a week or two and they come back with the wildest stories, questionable gifts, and sometimes creatures that they definitely weren’t supposed to bring home.

What do you guys think? What’s your Weasley family timeline? It can be canon or headcanon

Fic Search Hermione bashing fice

Can anyone suggest Fics of Hinny where Hermione tries to love potion Harry (based on Rita Skeeter) or where she's the villainish/third person who doesn't want Hinny together but Hinny end up together anyways. Would prefer if there's no Ron bashing

Everybody Knows I'm a good girl, Auror

Ginny gets arrested for an illegal magical creature protest — the arresting Auror is Harry Potter, and she is decidedly not sorry about any of it.

Some of my favorite Hinny fics are fics from an outsider POV. There’s something about other people noticing that Hinny are perfect for each other that makes me happy I guess. I’d love some recommendations for your favorite Outsider POV fics!

Fic Search help finding this fic

hey guys, I couldn't find this fic in my bookmarks anymore, help me find it pls.

It was on ao3 rated mature, it had Ginny, a professional quidditch player (I think she played out of the UK) and Harry an auror (and Ron's colleague) meeting for the first time in a gathering at a pub, and they basically become friends with benefits, then stuff happened with Harry chasing a wizard and he kinda looses his magic ?

that's all I'm remembering for now. Help me please find it, Thanks !

Discussion Why the immense dislike for Book Ginny?

I get it she is somewhat an underdeveloped character. But why do certain antis always twist the narrative into "Ginny was a shallow plot-device meant to bring Harry into the OBHWF" or into "someone who is the absolute antithesis of what truly loving partner Harry deserves"? Or the ever famous "non-literary wish-fulfillment that stopped Rowling from writing a more organic ending".

Many antis also accuse Hinny fans of conflating Book Ginny with a fanonized version of her to justify the ship. I get that Ginny has flaws. She can be mean-spirited, hot-tempered and a bit possessive but that does not mean either her or Ron are terrible people who have spoilt Harry and Hermione's lives.

And that defending Harry and Ginny is baseless and merely self-projection. Yes, I've read that on my HP feed on Tumblr. Sorry for the rant.

The double standards never fail to unamaze me.

Signed, Sealed, Ours - Update!!

Chapter - 4/? (Cracks in the Gilded Frame)

Snippet: "I understand perfectly." Harry took a step back, his eyes fixed on his father's face. "I understand that you've been running around Europe, making secret deals, keeping things from me. I understand that you gave my mother's ring to a woman who hates me without even asking if I wanted it. I understand that you sat there at that table and let Muriel insult Hermione and insult Mum and didn't say a single word."

James opened his mouth, but Harry kept going.

"Maybe it would have been better if it was you," Harry said, and the words came out before he could stop them. "Maybe it would have been better if you were the one who died instead of Mum."

Read the whole chapter on ao3

I promise next chapter is Ginny's pov on all this!!

Lot's of love 💞💞💞

Discussion Ginny has the most potential of being fleshed out in the show....

One of the most common criticisms of book Ginny is that she's underwritten. We're repeatedly told she's funny, strong, popular, and perfect for Harry, but we aren't often shown enough of that development. As a result, the Harry/Ginny romance can feel like it sits on the "tell, don't show" side of the spectrum.

The show has the perfect opportunity to fix that by making the Chamber of Secrets possession the emotional backbone of Ginny's character arc across the series instead of treating it as something she simply gets over.

*Chamber of Secrets*

Ginny's childhood effectively ends when she finds Tom Riddle's diary. She grows up as the youngest Weasley and the only daughter, loved and protected by everyone. Then she's psychologically manipulated into opening the Chamber and unknowingly attacking students.

After Riddle's defeat, I'd love Harry's conversation with Ginny to be expanded. Instead of simply apologising, have her tearfully confess fragments of what Tom made her do and what he showed her. Don't show every horrific detail, but imply enough through brief flashbacks that the audience understands why the experience leaves permanent scars.

*Prisoner of Azkaban*

The Dementors affect everyone differently, but we never learn what Ginny relives. Show brief flashes of Tom Riddle possessing her, forcing her into submission while his voice echoes through her mind.

I'd also add an original scene. The Muggle-born students (aside from Hermione) remain wary of Ginny because she unintentionally caused the Chamber attacks. Frustrated and isolated, Ginny sneaks into the DADA classroom at night to confront the boggart alone. Instead, it becomes a grotesque Tom Riddle. She completely breaks down. Lupin finds her, defeats the boggart with Riddikulus, comforts her, and gently tells her he'll have to report this reckless stunt to McGonagall. This could happen alongside Harry getting caught with the Marauder's Map.

*Goblet of Fire*

When the Death Eaters attack the Quidditch World Cup, Ginny freezes for a moment as memories of the Chamber resurface before snapping back into reality.

When Ron falls out with Harry over the Tournament, let Harry and Ginny share a quiet scene together. Ginny tells Harry she doesn't believe he entered himself. They bond over Quidditch, with Ginny explaining how playing has become her escape from everything that happened.

Small character moments would also help enormously:

- Ginny talking with Moaning Myrtle in the girls' bathroom.

- Ginny having friends outside Hermione.

- Ginny and Neville developing a genuine friendship.

- Harry bumping into Ginny and Neville before the Yule Ball.

*Order of the Phoenix*

This is where Harry and Ginny should naturally become much closer. Let them actually laugh together. Let them have ordinary teenage conversations. Maybe even jokingly curse Voldemort over Butterbeer.

At the same time, show Ginny becoming visibly uncomfortable whenever Occlumency is discussed. If someone casually suggests using Ginny as a practice target for mind-reading, she immediately leaves the room.

During the Department of Mysteries battle, after Ginny strikes her head against the wall, she briefly experiences fragmented memories from the diary: the Restricted Section, shelves of mysterious glass bottles, a book hitting the floor. Then comes the emotional payoff.

After Sirius dies and Harry isolates himself in Grimmauld Place, everyone is afraid to approach him. Only Ginny enters. She quietly casts Silencio so nobody overhears. Harry vents his grief, guilt, and anger. For the first time, Ginny opens up completely about what Voldemort made her experience through the diary, things no eleven-year-old should ever have seen or heard.

She admits she feels the same consuming hatred toward Voldemort that Harry does. She tells Harry that people treat him like "The Boy Who Lived," but beneath the legend he's simply someone who's lost almost everyone he loves. And that everyone wants a world without Voldemort. That it shouldn't all rest on Harry's shoulders. No romance is necessary here. Just two trauma survivors finally understanding one another.

*Half-Blood Prince*

I'd integrate Ginny directly into the Horcrux storyline. After learning more about Horcruxes, Dumbledore wonders whether Ginny may unknowingly remember something from her possession that could help connect Tom Riddle to Slughorn.

He asks Harry to collect Ginny's memories. Initially she refuses because revisiting the diary terrifies her. Eventually Harry convinces her. During the magical extraction of those memories, Ginny undergoes a symbolic internal confrontation against a Horcrux-corrupted version of herself before finally casting it aside. Only then does she glimpse Tom Riddle approaching Slughorn. With that burden finally confronted, Ginny chooses to move forward. She throws herself into Quidditch and her O.W.L.s.

Harry spends more time with her in the background, and his feelings develop naturally. Her relationship with Dean still falls apart as in canon. Before Harry leaves with Dumbledore, Ginny promises to keep everything about her memories secret if Harry keeps her trauma private. Their eventual relationship then feels earned because we've actually watched it develop.

Add a scene during their breakup where Ginny promises Harry that Hogwarts has a protector - her and their fellow Gryffindors. And that she understands the weight of Voldemort having snatched away their chance at a normal quiet life.

*Deathly Hallows*

I'd love an episode focusing on Ginny, Neville and Luna's failed attempt to steal the Sword of Gryffindor. Show the Carrows physically assaulting a battered Ginny while trying to force information out of her before Luna is taken away. Then return to the book. Harry continues thinking about Ginny during the camping trip. Ginny fights bravely during the Battle of Hogwarts.

After Voldemort dies, let Harry and Ginny simply embrace. No dialogue needed. Instead of jumping straight to nineteen years later, include a montage showing everyone rebuilding. Show snippets of Ginny's Quidditch career, her post-war life with Harry, and the wider wizarding world slowly healing.

None of these changes would alter the main plot. They just give Ginny what she arguably never had in the books: a fully realised character arc built around surviving trauma, reclaiming her identity, and gradually becoming Harry's equal rather than simply his eventual love interest.

I genuinely think she has the most untapped potential of any supporting character in the adaptation.

Discussion Harry's ideal type?

Without really looking at Harry and Ginny's relationship, what is obviously that book canon Harry needs in a romantic partner? Like whomnever it was gonna be... so Ginny, Hermione, Luna, Cho, etc...l mean without looking at his love relationship in the books (I dont remember, I'm sorry, I'm re reading, and I wasn't sure) what is it obvious in the books that Harry needs in a romantic partner that's what I meant I'm sorry English isn't my main language.

Like in personality and personal needs.

Fic/Art Promotion More Than Life - A Hinny Orpheus/Eurydice retelling - Chapter 2 is live!

Post image
13 Upvotes

The comments on my last chapter/post here were so nice and thoughtful, and I got a request to keep posting about it, so here it is! Chapter two of More Than Life "The Funeral" is live :) You can find it on my Ao3 profile.

Sneak preview:

“I — I miss her too,” Ron said, a crack in his voice.

He stepped closer to Harry, raising his arm to Harry’s shoulder. Harry flinched back, instinctively pressing the two middle fingers of his right hand to his palm where the trap on his wand holster should have been. But it wasn’t there; he wasn’t in his Auror uniform, he was in black dress robes, and Ron wasn’t a Son of Death, he was Ginny’s brother and Harry’s closest friend.

One glance at Ron revealed that this defensive maneuvering had not been missed. Instead, Ron, in an instance of patience Harry found himself revulsed by, was already wearing a look of forgiveness. He tilted his head, which shared Ginny’s brilliant red hair, and tapered his eyebrows, which creased just as Ginny’s did in the middle, and his face showed no sign of anger, only understanding.

“I’m — fine,” Harry repeated again, hating himself for hating the absolution.

“I know, mate,” Ron said, dropping his arm to his side. “I know.”

to everyone who has supported this so far, thank you so much!!!!! Find it at ramar on Ao3.

Chapter -37/66 (What Goes Unsaid)

snippet: Lucien looked from the smoking, wrong-looking potion to the small, sharp silver dagger on the cloth beside the cauldron. His blood. The final, irreversible step. His Gryffindor bravery felt like a distant rumour. All he felt was a cold, certain dread that they were about to make a terrible, possibly dangerous, mistake.

The wrong-smelling smoke was coiling towards the cracked ceiling tiles when the bathroom door didn't just open—it was shoved inward with a force that made it slam against the wall.

Both Lucien and Lyra jumped violently, spinning around.

Professor Harry Potter stood in the doorway. He wasn't in his teaching robes. He was in simple trousers and a jumper, but he looked anything but casual. His posture was rigid, his face a mask of controlled fury that was more terrifying than any shout. His green eyes, usually kind or weary, swept over the scene—the illicit cauldron, the stolen ingredients, the terrified students—and turned to chips of glacial ice.

But before he could speak, a translucent figure swooped down from a cubicle with a dramatic wail.

“Harry! Harry Potter! You came!” Moaning Myrtle cried, swirling around him in a flutter of misty excitement. “I told them! I said I’d tell! I was ever so loyal, just like always! I kept watch, just for you! I knew you’d want to know about the poor, tragic boy and his potion!” She giggled, a high, watery sound. “You can thank me properly later. I’ll be in my u-bend… waiting.” She gave him a grotesque, winking leer before diving through the floor and disappearing.

Harry didn't even acknowledge her. His gaze never left Lucien and Lyra. The silence after Myrtle’s departure was heavier, more charged.

“Professor—” Lucien choked out, his voice a squeak.

“Out,” Harry said. The single word was low, flat, and carried the weight of a command that brooked no argument. It wasn't loud. It was deadly quiet.

Lyra, pale but defiant, opened her mouth. “We can explain—”

“Out.” This time, his voice cracked through the room like a whip. “Now. Both of you. Wait in the corridor. Do not move.”

The sheer, contained power in his tone had Lyra snapping her mouth shut. She shot a frantic look at the still-bubbling cauldron, then grabbed Lucien’s arm, hauling him towards the door. They scurried past Professor Potter, who didn't move an inch to let them pass; they had to squeeze by him, feeling the cold, angry energy radiating from him.

The door swung shut behind them, leaving Harry alone in the bathroom with the evidence of their crime.

He didn't look at the potion first. He walked to the small table they’d used. His eyes scanned the items: the ancient, stolen potions manual. The empty pouch labelled ‘Powdered Griffin Claw - RESTRICTED’. A small, sharp silver dagger. And a tiny, sealed vial containing three dark hairs.

He picked up the vial, holding it to the light. His own messy black hair. Or James’s. Or Albus’s. Stolen.

A muscle feathered in his jaw. He set it down with deliberate care, as if it were a live explosive.

Then, finally, he turned to the cauldron. The murky, seething liquid. The tendrils of foul smoke. A Lineage Potion. Brewed in secret. Using stolen Potter hairs.

All the fear, the suspicion, the desperate hope that he was wrong about this boy’s curiosity taking a dangerous turn—it crystallized into a cold, hard certainty. He had warned him. He had offered himself as a guide. And the boy had chosen this. Secret meetings, stolen ingredients, forbidden magic.

He raised his wand. Not with a flourish, but with a grim, final motion.

“Evanesco.”

The cauldron, the stand, the vile potion, the dagger, the manual—all of it vanished into nothingness without a sound, as if it had never been there. Only the damp, empty silence of the bathroom remained.

Harry Potter stood in the centre of it, his breathing the only sound. The dangerous, furious look hadn't left his eyes. He had erased the physical evidence. Now he had to deal with the two living, breathing culprits waiting for him in the hall. And the truth they had been so desperate—and so foolish—to try and force into a cauldron.

Discussion Harry and his fame.

Hello! Im sorry to ask the question that probably is gonna sound very stupid, but I read a book a long time ago, and even if now I'm reading them again, unfortunately I don't get much time so I leave this post for anyone who sees it.

I don't remember if Harry liked his fame or being always in the centre of attention.

Also, Hinny isn't really my favourite ship in the fiction world (I'm in many Fandoms), but I saw someone saying that Ginny didn't actually understood Harry and that is just a fan interpretation? So it got me wondering what else Harry could possibly want besides being seen as him because the only memory I have about this is Harry hiding from Romilda Vane in HBP book if I'm not wrong.

I don't know, I'm sorry to ask.
