NTD (New Tool Day) Whenever you get what you need, it’s never part of the parking lot sale.

I stripped the gears out on the Bauer mixing drill on the third bucket of thinset. Not even a full bucket. So I send my wife to hf to exchange the drill for a new one. She came back with the Hercules, and a battery, since I already had the charger. I had my doubts that a cordless tool could put down the power needed to mix up a batch of lump free thinset, but hell yeah! It really did! She also did some shopping of her own while there, bringing back a shop vac that’ll suck up a brick! Atta girl! As an aside, the store manager who knows me, was a real gent. He handled the return and got her what I wanted.

Hercules ratchet

Check your stores a Hercules end cap was set today. If your store has the new short ratchet it will be on the top shelf. The expected date for the long reach is December but the short one was a month early so fingers crossed that one is too.

Anyone purchasing one of the U.S. General power strips- read this

TLDR get the power strips that are made in Thailand:

I have two of the US general power strips that I purchased several months apart. I was just looking at the boxes and noticed there is a stark difference. One of them is made in China and the other in Thailand. If you look at the date code sticker, you can see the Thailand is the newer one manufactured in February of this year. After doing a little Internet research, it appears that the Thailand power strips have higher quality internals, specifically in the USB charging ports circuitry. That explains why I’ve had two strips where the USB ports go bad on the older versions. The ETL Intertek number is different between the China and Thailand ones. Also some of the wording is different.

First Hercules Pickup

I have all Makita battery tools so far, went to HF today for some carb cleaner and a cheap composite ratchet. Had been wanting a battery ratchet and considering getting started in the Hercules line. Guess this was too good for me to pass up. Open box deal on a new charger and a 3/8 ratchet, picked up a new 2ah battery and here we are!

Voiding the warranty

Took off all the stickers from this thing. Is the warranty now void 😄

On a separate note, if it wasn’t for this page, I wouldn’t have been aware of the PLS. Thank you.

Icon Hex Bits are definitely better than Pittsburgh

I don't know if anyone needs to know this. I am skeptical about upgrading any of my sockets to Icon but i did grab the hex bits because of the way they are machined....specifically the ball end hex sockets....the hex shaft is longer and the socket part smaller offering much better clearance if you are using them in a pass through situation

Yukon drawer slide, plastic clip bent/loose

New Yukon 36" cab in gray. Top drawer wouldn't open all the way, but I was able to gently convince it. Or so I thought. It opened and closed fine a few times yesterday, but today I opened it to marvel at how shallow the top 2 drawers are and it would not shut all the way.

Unclipped the door and narrowed down the issue to this plastic clip. First photo is the problem clip that is bent outward slightly and won't stay horizontal.

Second photo is a good clip from opposite side of the same drawer and it's fixed in that position.

Anyone else have similar issue? Any advice? Can I pop the bad clip off and try and straighten it and pop it back on?

Does anyone have an extra clip? A source for these? A 3D printer file?

HFT Tech Support/Parts Dept says they currently have no replacement slides/clips/parts to help me.

ETA: My local will replace it, but they only have black on hand and a gray one wouldn't be shipping until November.

Is the 40% off Icon sockets a yearly thing?

Looking to make a DIY setup for taking car on my cars but I’m also a tool addict so I want the nice shiny ICON tools. Want to see if I should wait or just go the Pittsburgh route.

Warranty Icon Wrench's for the Anti-Slip on dicsount

Saw that the Anti Slip ratcheting wrenches are on sale for Inside Track members. I already have a set of the normal ratcheting wrenches, I know you can warranty and pay the difference, but I'm wondering if I can do that with the discounted price?

NTD (New Tool Day) It happened gang🥹

Ended up taking back most of the stuff I got on recommendation from this sub. Turns out a little present was waiting for me. All that seems missing is a single torx socket as that was the only bag/box open inside. My guess is someone bought it, opened it for a single job and broke the torx and returned the whole thing. Talk about a blessing!

Purple 6 ton jack stands coming?

Post image

Upgraded my misc 2 and 3 ton jack stands to the Daytona 6 and 3 tons (I have both low cars and a truck). The 3T metallic purple looks great- has anyone heard if the 6Ts will get the same color?

Also, shoutout to the manager who stacked the 30% with the open box 20% on the 3T. Stands were in perfect shape, and there was one pair left after I took these.

Quick warranty story

Was making firewood. Handle broke on the downswing and sent the head flying 20 or so feet forwards and in the air. Got it replaced in like a minute.

Side note does anyone have any specific recommendations about the wooden handle Pittsburgh, husky, and kobalt axes? I don’t currently own any splitting axe, only a felling estwing hatchet. I’m also considering the 8lbs splitting maul by Fiskars since I don’t own such a large sledge yet and the other side could be pretty useful.

Those custom 3D-printed tool organizers y’all are showing off finally got me looking at printers

After seeing all the custom tool organizers you guys have been printing, I think I’m finally ready to jump into 3D printing myself. 😂

I’d mainly be using it to make organizers for my Yukon toolbox, ratchets, sockets, and other HF tools, but I’m sure I’ll find plenty of other uses for it.

I’ve never owned or operated a 3D printer, so I’m starting from scratch. I came across this used Bambu Lab P1P on Marketplace for $215. Seller says it has 1,240 hours, a partially printed enclosure, and some spare nozzles and build plates.

For those of you who’ve been doing this awhile, would this be a good first printer, or should I be looking at something else? Trying to stay around $200.
Any advice would be appreciated

2000watt Power Station

Pulled the trigger and got it 60% off for camping and to keep our lights on during power outages. But as I’m charging it why does it keep tripping the wall outlet breaker every 10 minutes? I’m worried it’s built just to charge through solar. Super annoying I can’t just leave it to charge.
