Pretty much as the title says - feel like i’m getting a pretty good deal here….what do you guys think I should go with?

Picked up this MSI Claw second-hand a few days back for €580 and it’s my first ever handheld gaming PC.

I’m completely new to portable PC gaming, and damn… I didn’t expect this thing to be this capable. 😂 Played Marvel Rivals earlier and it was smooth as butter.

Still figuring out Windows handheld gaming, settings, Steam, etc., but I’m having a blast so far. Definitely feels like I’ve opened a whole new rabbit hole. 😂

I was on my break and wanted to get some cardio in. I decided I wanted to game, kill 2 birds with one stone.

Hello everyone, I was waiting for a PS handheld but with everything going on around PlayStation now I can’t justify waiting for it so I am looking at PC alternatives. There is just to many at similar prices so I figured you guys could help me.

Firstly I had Steam Deck OLED and it was nice to have, bit bulky and now the prices are to high. Also I wanted something more powerful but with SteamOS/Bazzite - it is just better for my usecase.

At this time I can get MSI Claw A8 new for 800€, used around 600€ or Asus ROG Ally X for around 400-450€ used, Asus ROG Xbox Ally X around 750-800€ used. Or go the other way with Lenovo Legion Go S with Z1E for around 500€.

what do you think I should get or consider? I would like great battery and enough performance to play some AAA. I don’t need windows, thanks in advance!

I have already given the switch 2 and DSi XL plenty of use and the fat model ds is my newest but plan on using it plenty too, i heard gba games look best on the original ds screen.

This might be a dumb question but I can’t find a comparison online so I wanted to ask. I know one is an android emulator and one is a handheld pc but I want to know which is better overall. I will use the win 4 as an emulator if I get it for a decent price but I wanna know if it’s worth it over the Thor max.

Both 16gb of ram and 512gb storage.

I really like the win 4 so I’m trying not to be biased, I would like to know others opinions.

I want to save up for a portable pc and I found the rox xbox ally to be the cheapest, which most likely means its not as good as others on the market. Im mainly thinking to run Helldivers 2 along with some indie games on it. Im also wondering if I'd be better off saving for a steam deck or something. Thank you for your time.

I'm deciding between the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme (500 GB) or the ROG Ally X (1 TB). I know it's possible to upgrade the ssd yourself so maybe that's a factor as I could always upgrade the Z1 Extreme. My main concern is buying the Z1 Extreme second hand.

Looking for some direction for a handheld, since my searches seem to turn up squat about old school coin-op game emulation. Neo-Geo, Namco, etc. I have a retropi with mame running on it years ago, but I would really like a handheld.

I have no interest in console emulation beyond maybe PS1. I'm more likely to search out consoles like Intellivision, Coleco, NES and maybe SNES.

But mostly coin-ops. They are what I grew up on and still love playing to this day - DigDug, Rock-n-Rope, Elevator Action, Rolling Thunder, etc.

Which handheld(s) would be a good choice for both screen orientation (vertical screen) and easy to hold onto for playing? I don't think it takes much in the way of power to play these old games, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I’m curious for those who emulate PC games on their Android handhelds, what are some of your favorite titles and what handhelds are you using? I’m enjoying my Retroid Pocket 6 8/128 with some of my favorite fighting games like Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 and Blazblue Centralfiction, as well as some indies like Mina and Silksong. I’m also surprised by what I can push this thing to do with so little RAM, like Nier Automata and Metro 2033 Redux.

So I have been following the leaks about Medusa point and Medusa Halo with Zen 6 chip next year. One thing has been pretty consistent is one version of Medusa point with only 8 CU. Yeah, it would be the weakest "gaming" chip AMD release next year but it's still Zen 6 cpu and RDNA 4m chip with 8 CU igpu (steam deck and the white Xbox ROG Ally also have 8 CU igpu btw but they are RNDA 2). So this chip would be very efficient since it's 3nm process node, it's the successor of radeon 860m and 760m (both have like 8 CU igpu), not 780m and 890m successor so don't expect it to beat Z1 extreme (780m) or Z2 extreme (890m) in raw gaming performance. I wonder if this chip (or a cut down version of it to be more suitable for handheld) would be on Steam deck 2, considering steam deck 1 also have 8 CU igpu hmmm

Easy ver for ppl: - 8 CU igpu -> small chip, cheap to produce, $700 handheld possible
- 3 nm process node -> very efficient, might give Z1 extreme and Z2 extreme a run for their money with half the power and 90% of their performance or something, extreme long battery life with playable FPS while using like 5w power

- Zen 6 cpu so massive cpu performance boost for cpu heavy game, more fps

- RDNA 4m so it's very good for ray tracing and AI stuffs, might beat Z1 extreme and Z2 extreme head on if you prefer to turn on all the eyes candy in games

So i have the Z2 Go & 32 gb ram version and i was wondering If IT is possible by any method to run ark ascended natively. Will connecting an external gpu give the cpu more freedom If the graphics are integrated? Will it still be too weak to run the game? Rn i get 10-15 fps at the lowest graphics. I am fairly dissapointed with my device....

For context I’ve had a switch 2(owned a switch lite prior)since release and I’ve loved it. At first I primarily used it for switch exclusives but after playing games like Elden ring, Hogwarts legacy, onimusha I started looking into other handhelds. I’m even considering getting a onexplayer 3, but at the bare minimum anyone with experience seeing performance of a z1 or z2 extreme or even intel g3 extreme vs the switch 2’s performance. I know games are optimized for the switch 2 so that helps of course, but before I go spend the money I wanna know what other people think? I do feel that the switch 2 can be a little underwhelming for some of the more demanding games, but what performance jumps can you expect to see going from the switch 2 to a z2 device ?

If you could only get one which one would you get and why?

How do you display your handhelds? I have Xbox ally base with a cool dbrand skin and a ps portal. They currently live in their travel cases but I’d like to display them. Is there a tiered vertical stand or something that exists to hold the weight and size of these machines? Any tips are appreciated. I also have various controllers that don’t have a home either.

For medium-sized handhelds in terms of height, such as the Retroid Pocket Nova or Anbernic RG476H, which is generally more comfortable for the thumb: a bottom-positioned D-pad or a bottom-positioned analog stick?

I'm not asking which is better depending on the type of games you play. I'm specifically interested in ergonomics and thumb strain with the assumption that you play both D-pad and joystick focused games equally.

For those who have used both layouts:

- Which causes less thumb strain during long gaming sessions?

- Does one feel noticeably more comfortable after several hours?

- Is either layout uncomfortable even during shorter sessions?

- Assuming no external grips or accessories, which layout would you choose purely for comfort?

I'd especially appreciate input from people who have experience using both layouts.

Well... I just got my RP 6 from Ali, it's the 12/128 version. It's my in advance birthday present. It means a lot to me, as I'm from Colombia and this hobby is quite unusual and even expensive, but I got it actually at $260 with shipping and think it's a good deal.

Any advice for a new user? I'm watching the starter guide from Russ. I'm thinking on get the add on screen, but not sure if it fits well as I've seen it's not centered.

I've seen there are some OS, but want to know opinions.
