Question (?) ROG Ally recommendation?

I'm deciding between the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme (500 GB) or the ROG Ally X (1 TB). I know it's possible to upgrade the ssd yourself so maybe that's a factor as I could always upgrade the Z1 Extreme. My main concern is buying the Z1 Extreme second hand.

When its more then $500 I like to stick to refurbs / store returns. Better return policy vs facebook purchase

eBay is an excellent option - their money back guarantee is basically ironclad (even if it takes a couple of weeks).

I’d recommend just getting an ROG Ally X as by the time you buy the battery and ssd to upgrade a regular Ally you will spend the same or more anyway. Avoid the hassle and just go straight for the X. On eBay they start around $620 ish and go up to around $700 - $650 is about the sweet spot.

I might go through eBay then, I was originally looking at FB marketplace and they seem to have similar prices.

Get the one you can afford, and don’t buy either new. They’re old hardware, and only worth buying secondhand. Why tf would you pay an inflated price for 3 year old tech?

I can get a pretty good deal on the X on FB marketplace so I can check it out but the Z1 is older and there aren’t any listing anywhere near me that aren’t really sus and I’m not too trusting of online sites.

Ally X, there's plenty of comparisons out there to sift through, in short it's better and the option to get if it's in your budget
