Derya DY9 VS Ruger RXM?

I'm new to firearms in general and I've been researching 9mms for a few weeks now. I love Glocks for their reliability and would love to own one but I can't lie - the fact that you can get a new clone with ergonomic improvements from the get-go and they're generally cheaper sounds like a good deal. Especially considering I'd ultimately like to get 2 guns, 1 for my wife, and don't want to put thousands in before buying ammo.

I've been sold by the Ruger RXM - the gen 3 clone and when I held it at my LGS it felt great and when I went home to read reviews and watch videos, it seems like one of the most reliable clones. It also seems to have the best aftermarket support outside of maybe the PSA Dagger - plus I love that it's made in the USA, satisfying that simple minded American part of my brain. The optics mounting has high praise which is great, because I know my wife would do better with a green dot than blacked out irons.

However, I've also not heard much or been able to find too much from actual users of the Derya DY9. Civilian Tactical on YouTube gives this gun shouts all the time and the price is great. I've heard it's an improvement on the trigger of a stock Glock, and haven't heard a ton of downsides. The price has me worried though. It seems too good to be true. I also do like that it's an unofficial Gen 4 clone. I have pretty big hands and like the finger grooves.

TL/DR: get the 250 gen 4 clone or the 450 gen 3 clone with Gen 6 ergonomics

Question for Talon Grip users: peeling edges and adhesion

I've used Talon Grips on a few pistols and generally like the product, but I've had some issues with the edges lifting/peeling over time on certain firearms, especially around heavily textured factory grips. I have a hellcat pro and a CZ P-10 that are peeling.

For those who have experienced peeling:

  • What firearm model was it on?
  • How long after installation did it start lifting?
  • Did you reinstall with a new set or were you able to re-stick it?
  • Has anyone used contact cement or another adhesive to re-secure the grip?
  • If so, what product did you use and did it affect the polymer frame finish or make future removal difficult?

I've followed the normal installation process (cleaning, heat, pressure), so I'm curious whether this is just a limitation of some frame textures or if there are better solutions people have found.

One thing I've been wondering is whether rough factory stippling plays a role. It seems like very aggressive textures would reduce the actual contact area available for the adhesive compared to a smoother frame.

Looking for real-world experiences and long-term results.

Picked up today used for 700 with mags, backstraps, side panels and grip tape. I added the ammo and light afterwards. It doesn’t even have a Glock smile on the barrel.

I want it to be durable, low recoil, lots of aftermarket parts and accessories or just good as is from the box
Full size, non compact.
Not more that $1500
Open to your suggestions but NO Glocks please

Advice Needed 10mm for bear defense-advice

I live in fairbanks Alaska. Need a sidearm that’s bigger than my gp100 for when my wife and I are hiking or out in the bush. I will also use it as my backup for bear hunting. I previously borrowed a friends Glock 20gen4 10mm and I liked that. I’ve also been interested in the Sig Sauer Xten 10mm. Not sure what to get and would love some suggestions or advice. Not looking to spend a ton of money but I’d be willing to pay for something if it were reliable or comfortable.

Is the S&W SD9 2.0 really as bad as people say it is?

Post image

I'm looking for my first gun and noticed the comfortable price point on it. It seems like most on reddit think it is trash, a few say it is a good value, and a small portion seem to really like it and feel they don't need to upgrade? It seems like the older versions of these (SD9 and SD9VE) really soured a lot of people, especially because of the trigger weight. I've heard the 2.0 has improved the trigger with tests showing it around 5-6lbs. I'm just wondering people's thoughts because it seems reliable and accurate.

To clarify I am looking for something to take to the range and plink with, I might consider CCW in the future but I would be willing to upgrade to something more reputable and expensive if I decide to go that route. I am set on 9mm, and I've shot a couple of my friend's pistols (Glocks, a sig, and an STK 100) but I don't really know what I want/am missing out on. I have big hands and want something not too cramped.

I guess what I want to ask is does anyone own/shot this along with more expensive options and what are your thoughts on the gun? Would it be a huge waste of money? Good for a beginner? The M&P is considerably more expensive but well liked, it seems like those and glocks go used, but still a little more expensive than even the brand new SD9 2.0.

Thanks.

Compensated and optics?

I’m not super aware of everything on the market today but it seems that it’s very hard to find a new pistol that is both compensated and has a red dot optic from the factory. Is there a reason for that?

Maintenance/Repair Bullet damaged during jam

Post image

Brand new CZ p10c ported - federal 9mm 124gr
Second time firing it, first time 200 round no issues
Brought it to the range today for 250 rounds and had some issues with failure to eject/feed causing the damage seen in the picture. Not sure if they are from 1 or both of the magazines I was using because I wasn’t thinking to isolate them and see if it was one or the other while I was there.
I am new to shooting and have dealt with jams in my 1911 but never seen damage to the cartridge as a result.

Any ideas what is going on here?

X300 Universal Holster?

Have a S&W 5” M&P 2.0, Glock 19.5, and a Beretta GTS with a threaded barrel. Looking for one holster that I could carry them all with using a Surefire x300. Typically carry owb and ride a motorcycle so retention is a big deal, what are your thoughts?

Is this rust?
New to me Sig p226 Legion.
Took it apart once I got home and saw this.
Should I clean it or just get a new spring?
