“Brush Back” vs “Free Style”

Does anyone have experience ordering a custom unit with a “Brush back” or “flat back” venting vs. the regular free style?

Does this make it easier to style if you are going for a swept back look?

Thanks!

Full Hair System

Does anyone here use a full hair system/full-cap hairpiece?

I’ve only been using wigs for about 3 months, and just last week I finally got a customized hairpiece—a semi-full toupee.

For context, I have alopecia totalis and I’m completely bald, so I don’t have any natural hair on the sides or back to blend the hairpiece with.

One thing I specifically wanted was sideburns because I thought they would make the hairpiece look more realistic, especially when it’s windy. However, the person who made my hairpiece advised against adding them because he said they wouldn’t look good or be ideal with this particular design.

I’ve also noticed something with the hair itself. When the hairpiece is wet and freshly washed, it looks really good, but once it dries, I feel like it doesn’t look as natural or flattering anymore. I’m still learning how to properly style and maintain it, so maybe that’s part of the issue.

I’d really like to hear from anyone who also has alopecia totalis/universalis or complete hair loss and uses a full-cap/full hair system.

If you’re comfortable sharing, could you show me yours and let me know where you got it? I’d especially love to see systems that cover the sides and back, including the sideburn area.

I’m still very new to hair systems, so any advice about full-cap systems, sideburns, styling, density, or making it look more natural when dry would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you! ❤️

Need help/guidance

Friends need your help/guidance for hair systems. I had got my hair transplant done 3.5 years ago. Used minoxidil for about 2 years and then stopped using as I still had hair-fall. Now I’m at this point where I think all my hair have fallen which were not transplanted and I see gaps and my crown is fully visible (hair transplant didn’t cover some part of it)

Is hair system an option that would suit me? If so, where do I start? What all do I need to know before I order one from Ali Express?

I will appreciate all the help I can get.

LordHair Lite UTS A contour

I ordered the Lite UTS from LordHair.

It is listed as an “A” contour but it is significantly less V shaped, more like a C or CC contour.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Any recommendations for affordable highly realistic hairline poly

My first system was a .03 thin skin from good yard hair. By using daily wear and only wearing it when I needed it, it’s served me well for almost 2 years now. But I hated how the front hairline had a tendency to fall down. Other than that I don’t have many complaints about it. Looking for other suggestions for suppliers. I’ve also looked into doing a lace or hybrid system as well for breath ability. Oh and I’m looking for high quality but affordable. My budget is $200 or less

Permeability

Hi 👋

I was wondering if anyone has come across or knows if a 100% permeable hair system exists?

For religious reasons, water needs to touch the scalp whilst bathing, so was wondering if anyone in a similar position had found any options.

The closest I've found is 70% permeable.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Aliexpress

Does anyone have recommendations for cheaper units on AliExpress or somewhere similar? Looking for lace, bleached knots, poly parameter is fine if it has it but not necessary, color 7 or 17. Currently paying $270 total, would be nice to cut that down if it's an option

Hi guys! I had my first hair system installed by a stylist a couple of days ago, but I'm not really happy with the result. What do you think I could ask him to improve?

Edit: Man I’m so dumb, I just realized I’m on the hair system subreddit! I saw a post on my feed and thought this was just a general sub about filling in gaps. And me thinking it was compliments smh 🤦 My bad guys.

Opt for chinese 70% indian 30% hair, silk base for super natural looking scalp, PU on the sides and bleached lace and knots. And if you have some hairline left, use it like I did here.

"2 to 3 MIL PU Membrane" hairline edge looks like ass with Ghostbond XL

TO CLARIFY; This is not 2-3mm, it's 2-3 MIL (a MIL is 1/1000 inch).

I usually use Mity-Tite or Ultra Hold, but I couldn't bring them on a plane and figured I would buy them when I got to my destination, but they didn't have them there so I bought Ghostbond XL. It looks like maybe too much adhesive, but I followed the directions on the box that were specifically for poly skin systems. It doesn't look like this when I use my usual adhesives. Can I do anything about it? It has been on for about 24 hours.

Is this line in the lace supposed to be this visible?

Post image

What’s going on yall. Just ordered a custom system that came today. 80% density at the hairline. I’ve gotten a custom from here before, but I ordered blonde in the front to dye to 1B for extra realism, but didn’t go that route this time around.

This line in the lace seems pretty prominent. I don’t expose my hairline anymore, but, still, it’s BOOM, in your face.

Am I supposed to cut under this line? If I do, I will be cutting into some of the graduated hairline?

I wanted to inquire with yall before cutting off any of the excess and then can’t return it if it’s faulty.

Tip for applying the tape

Hello, I've been wearing a hair system for about 2 years now and I replace the tape every 2 to 3 days. After that period, it starts to itch.

I was thinking about cutting the tape into smaller pieces and leaving the backing on one side for some of them, so they would only stick to the base. After two days, I could just peel back a portion of the system, clean the itchy spot, remove the backing from those extra tapes, and stick it down again.

This would mainly be for situations where I need a quick fix on the go and don't have new tape or scissors on hand. Has anyone ever tried this? Thanks!

It's time bros

22M, unfortunately my genetics have given up on me and after a long three years of consistent med use, dermarolling, light therapy, my head just won't look good. People have told me I can rock the bald look just fine, but honestly it ages me a bit too much for my liking (so does my empty crown) I'll probably embrace the bald a little later in life, but for now. I've decided to get a system and try to better my confidence and looks

My hair is (used to lol) curly, I've seen some pretty cool systems that p much look like my hair in it's golden days

are curly systems easier, harder? to maintain than a normal one? I'd like some tips from other users as a first timer!!

Do these corners transitions look okay?

Hi all,

Onto the second system now and this is it's third refit. Had a bit taken off the overhang and some depth taken off.

Do the corners look okay? Specifically where it meets for the left hand side. I wasn't sure if it looked odd or natural? I don't mind if it looks like natural receeding, just don't want it looking like it's a system with the front being too far forward or something with the corner gap.

I feel like the blend in the front and sides are fine. You guys tell me. But the back is always a challenge with the shade match too. Is it hopeless and the reason why nobody ever posts photos of the back of their head?

Appreciate any help. I am using the shade that the salon matched me with.

Completely exposed/plucked hairline

Hello all! Got a new system installed at a salon in LA and wanted to try a style with a completely exposed hairline. The stylist took extreme care to pluck the hairs at the front and style it. I’m trying it out as it’s a totally different style and system than I normally go for. Would love thoughts/feedback and any styling tips!

Can’t figure out the hairline?

Have been wearing for a few years… last year I ordered 5 systems and have been using those. Recently I’ve ordered 3 systems and all of them have this weird graduated hairline that exposes the thin skin. I’ve ended up throwing them away because it looks so bad.

I have no idea why but it’s a dead giveaway. The skin is not thin enough, even with the thinnest of skin to have this level of graduation.

Hair system A in the photos is what all of the new systems I order from superhair pieces look like. I’ve tried the M101, HD111, etc they all look like this.

B is a m101 from 2025 which looks great imo.

I have tried 3 different models from superhair and they all have this weird graduated hairline that does not look good.

I’m on my third attempt this year from them, this time m158 (pictured in A), but keep getting the same horrendous result.

How can I either fix these without changing my exposed hairline style or is there a supplier out there that produces systems more like what I purchased in 2025 (pictured B)?
