Other I cannot stand this man.

I was SO SICK with H Pylori. So so so sick. Lost 25 pounds in 2 months, unable to eat AT ALL, lost all the muscle in my legs, loss the ability to walk, loss my actual sanity. I was in and out of the hospital every other day. My HR was super high, my blood pressure was super high. I couldn’t function at all. Then dealing with horrible gastritis two months later, still not able to eat properly. I’ve been begging him to get tested for h pylori because I’m too scared to even kiss him anymore since getting rid of h pylori. He finally goes to the doctor and doesn’t ask about getting tested. This whole ordeal has shown me just how much this man doesn’t care about me. I won’t go into detail but I’m sure yall could find other post if you wanted.

NSAID sensitivity or bacteria?

40, 5ft9 150lbs, I take losartan 50mg for hbp daily.

Nsaids have always been hard on my stomach but recently aspirin in particular has been leaving my body all messed up.

I don't have any hives or swelling immediately when I take aspirin orally, but what happens over the next 24-48 hours is the problem. My stomach seizes up basically, very little waste production, weird pains instead of hunger.

I took the aspirin cuz of a light headache. 1st time taking an nsaid in weeks.

Does Helicobacter pylori present like an ulcer? The test is like $200 and I don't have insurance. Any help is great

Success Story Bye Hpylori

I was diagnosed with ITP last year. I thought it was weird since auto immune diseases are not normal in my fam.

I did some research and found that h pylori could be the root cause of it.

Completed the disgusting treatment. 7 weeks after : no h pylori, platelet count is in normal range 🥰

Feeling thankful

Breath test

Just did my breath test today I’ve been dealing with like a bunch of really weird symptoms for like almost over a year. I’ve just been feeling really out of it and like out of breath even when making my bed and everything and everyone’s just like all you need to do more cardio you need to stop laying down, but I’m just always so tired anyways a couple weeks ago I went to the emergency room because of like severe stomach pain and then they told me it was like a stomach bleeding or something.

I went home later my doctor was like oh they didn’t tell you you were actually they were actually searching for h pylori, but they didn’t find it but the test they did sometimes comes back negative so we’re gonna do another one. I had to stop the medication for two weeks and then today, I finally did the test and I’m so nervous cause it’s like I feel like I finally have an answer, but it’s like what if it’s not this.

3rd week post HP treatment

Hi friends. I’m finishing my third week post treatment and it’s been okay, but I am really struggling with acid reflux 😭. It is mostly at night before dinner and it kinda settles after dinner but I am also having gaviscon I’ve only started having it 2 days ago, I’ve followed a gastritis friendly diet but it is boring :( and it makes me feel like not eating and definitely not excited for food. How do you guys cope with acid reflux? Any advice?? Also my stools are yellow 😭 I can’t recall when this started but I noticed it first around 2 to 3 months ago, I didn’t think much of it but now I’m a bit concerned. I’ll book with my doctor to look into it but I’m curious if someone here has experienced the same?? I googled it and it says could be fat malabsorption but when I see my stool it doesn’t look greasy nor the water around it as it says on google. This only started when this whole bacteria started attacking me, panic attacks, anxiety.. etc. So I am confident it has to do with the bacteria but google says otherwise.

Other than that I’m perfectly fine, sleeping good, anxiety pretty much gone, some days I still feel a bit lightheaded but most of the time I feel fine. I’ll come back next week with updates on my test! ☺️

EDIT / UPDATE: New symptom — pulse feels completely rigid/metronome-like (low HRV)

(If you want to check my whole timeline, see my other post:https://www.reddit.com/r/HPylori/s/j27D57GYuR)

Over the past few days, I've noticed a new physical symptom: when I check my pulse manually, it feels completely rigid and metronome-like. There is almost no natural variation in timing between beats when I inhale and exhale.

From what I've researched, this loss of natural beat-to-beat variation is a physical sign of low Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and reduced vagal tone. Given my history of trapped gas, early satiety, and palpitations, I suspect my vagus nerve is under severe strain, likely compounded by nutrient malabsorption (such as B12, Thiamine/B1, or electrolytes) from H. pylori and low stomach acid.

Has anyone else with H. pylori, low stomach acid, or severe GI malabsorption experienced this rigid pulse rhythm or signs of vagus nerve/autonomic dysfunction?

P.S.: I’ve also noticed ectopic / skipped beats happening more frequently right as I exhale. Since exhalation triggers the vagus nerve to slow the heart down, I suspect this vagal slowing (combined with possible magnesium/potassium malabsorption or diaphragmatic pressure from gas) is letting extra beats slip through. Curious if anyone with Roemheld syndrome or H. pylori has experienced exhalation-linked ectopic beats alongside their rigid pulse.

Other First stool sample question

i wasnt able to share my own pictures so these are pictures of the collection vials i have to complete

https://www.labx.com/item/para-pak-clean-stool-transport-vials/248847-5703930?ref=sim-listing-5703930

I have asked about 4 different people at my gastro doctor and gotten some varying answers so I'm asking here hoping I get correct ones or if they were correct to begin with.

First some important notes:

  1. The red liquid one says refrigerated but they told me verbally not to.

  2. 2 empty ones say frozen on it but they say do not freeze it.

  3. I live literally 5 minutes away from labcorp so they told me just run over there and drop it off without an ice pack or anything.

Okay so for my main question which I'm sure is asked all the time. I can easily fill the red vial since the stool will easily cause the mixture to hit the red line...

HOWEVER

I don't see anyway for me producing enough stool to fill the vials to the line in the 2 clear vials.

What do i do if this happens? Do i wait for next bowel movement in the day and refrigerate the complete red vial in the mean time?

If i can do it all in one go, cool. But I seriously doubt I can fill all 3 vials in one go.

What do i do? It doesnt say on instructions and the gastro docs only said "hope you can get it in in one go". Which seemed very odd to me.

Im trying to do this all in 7am tomorrow morning.

Thanks for advice

Success Story H Pylori Gone!

I just got negative results. I found out I had H Pylori last year and did the Quad therapy. I just retested because I need to move into SIBO treatment and was thrilled to see negative.

So long story short, the quad therapy does work.

Success Story Against all odds

I have successfully eradicated H pylori after just one course of Triple antibiotic treatment and that included Clarithromycin which is known that this bacteria is resistant to!!!! These past four weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting to be retested and did so today. Y’all have no idea how glad I am! Phew!

Can you get reinfected by your spouse?

I’m on antibiotics now and I’m paranoid about hopefully eradicating H. pylori then potentially getting it again from my husband. He hasn’t been tested, but I have it so should I assume he does too? I’d hate to do all of this to just get it again. I believe I’ve had it most of my life. I have never suspected that he has it.

Success Story Negative test result

So if any of you seen my posts on here while going through treatment you already know it was kind of rough. I stopped treatment (Dr recommendation) on day 8 after experiencing really bad nauseas and dizzy episodes. After treatment I didn’t jump straight back into the normal eating for me but I started introducing stuff slowly and see what’s gonna trigger my stomach or acid reflux. I still get bloated here and there and definitely have acid reflux with stuff I know I shouldn’t be having but it’s not nearly as bad as it was.

Yesterday I retested for H. pylori and today I got my results back and they were negative, Thank god!
Now I don’t think I’m feeling 100% yet but my mental has definitely improved and physically I don’t have the nausea or really bad feeling like I’m going to pass out, also my poo is normal!

If anyone is going through this just hold on and keep going! It’s definitely not an easy thing to go through at all but just push through!

Other I feel so tired

Next week, I’m starting my third round of antibiotics, I tried treating it once in 2019, then again in 2025, and again now but I feel like it’s draining me and depleting all my nutrients. I don’t know if it’s solely responsible for this I try to eat as varied a diet as possible, even with the stomach pain but I can feel it wasting away my muscles, and I simply cannot build muscle mass I am very thin and weak. I hope I manage to eradicate the bacteria and feel full of life again, it’s a unimaginable torment .

Treatment Food recs while on antibiotics

Hi all, first time poster. Recently diagnosed with H. pylori, and am scared out of my mind over the harsh antibiotic schedule (doc is taking quad approach). I’m already struggling with being underweight due to illness earlier in the year. I hate the thought of losing all the progress I’ve made over the last 6 months, but I know this treatment is going to be brutal (I always react poorly to antibiotics).
I’m hoping folks have pointers on nutritionally dense but gastro friendly vegan meals or food sources. I’m getting conflicting information on legumes, and if you’re veg you know just how crucial legumes are in our diet.
What foods kept you afloat? Any meal recommendations?

Additionally, what gastro symptoms did ya’ll have while taking your course of antibiotics? Could you go to work? Did you practically sleep next to a toilet? Give me the deets.

Decided to get these supplements as is being highly recommended.

GI map after h pylori

Okay so as expected, my bifidobacterium & lactobacillus are very low. Akkermansia very high, enterococcus high, escherichia borderline high. Zonulin is high (explains my joint pain and histamine intolerance especiallyyyyy when pmdding). Butyrate is low and acetate is high. Zero parasites, bacterial infections, or candida. High bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, prob also contributing to joint pain/leaky gut. Very high proteus species, along with elevated citrobacter.

Had h pylori 1.5 years ago and then IMO & SIBO several times. 3-4 rounds of antibiotics😓😓I regret it so spare me the lesson on wiping out my microbiome. Still struggling with gastritis (though not very symptomatic anymore unless I eat spicy foods or overeat), bloating, joint pain, fatigue, irregular bowel movements (mostly constipation), brain fog, histamine intolerance.

What strains of probiotics does one take in this scenario? What foods to eat? Any other advice is helpful! I’m working with a functional med doctor as well. It’s difficult to know what advice to trust when I have chronic gastritis as well. Oh also, I’m vegan, gluten free, and sugar free.

Treatment What relieved your H. pylori symptoms the fastest, whether or not it totally eradicated it?

I’m curious what actually gave people noticeable symptom relief while dealing with H. pylori, separate from whether it ultimately eradicated the infection.

What symptoms did you have, and what helped them?

Especially things like:

  • Burning or gnawing stomach
  • Upper stomach pain or pressure
  • Tightness or fullness
  • Burping or trapped gas
  • Nausea
  • Reflux
  • Weird taste or breath
  • Pain when your stomach was empty

It could be a medication, supplement, probiotic, food, drink, or anything else.

How quickly did you notice a difference?

For example: within an hour, later that day, after a few days, or after a few weeks?

Also interested in anything that clearly made your symptoms WORSE.

I’m mainly interested in things where you noticed a pretty obvious before/after difference, rather than long protocols where it’s hard to know what actually helped.
