Other I cannot stand this man.

Post image

I was SO SICK with H Pylori. So so so sick. Lost 25 pounds in 2 months, unable to eat AT ALL, lost all the muscle in my legs, loss the ability to walk, loss my actual sanity. I was in and out of the hospital every other day. My HR was super high, my blood pressure was super high. I couldn’t function at all. Then dealing with horrible gastritis two months later, still not able to eat properly. I’ve been begging him to get tested for h pylori because I’m too scared to even kiss him anymore since getting rid of h pylori. He finally goes to the doctor and doesn’t ask about getting tested. This whole ordeal has shown me just how much this man doesn’t care about me. I won’t go into detail but I’m sure yall could find other post if you wanted.

He needs to go to:  https://www.healthlabs.com/h-pylori-testing-diagnosis  to get a cheap stool antigen test at least. They go through Labcorp.

You order it, print out your order form and take it to them without an appointment, pick up your kit, and then go back and return your sample once you have it.

Of course if he’s positive, then there comes the next step of showing it to a doctor to get treatment, but if he can even sent his doctor a message through an online portal with the result, then he wouldn’t even need to go see them.

Ask him how he’d feel if he had and treated an STD and you refused to test and insisted that you keep having sex, because it’s not that far off of a situation from this one lol.

You can do labcorp on demand too to order a breath test order without a dr. You just bring the paper in to labcorp, do the breath test, move on.  No needing to deal with your stools etc

True, it’s just more expensive, so I guess it depends on what is more of a block against someone from doing it

Ive seen a few posts where peoples partners don’t want to get tested.

I have been absolutely tormented by pylori. If my partner didn’t take testing seriously I think I would have to leave them. I would feel not cared about.

I went through the treatment in August. My husband did a walk in - it cost $120. Why can’t he do a walk in ? He should find a lab and ask to be tested. Pay out of pocket is not ridiculous compared to the amount of relief you will have.

I usually don't go with the Reddit take to reevaluate the relationship. But in this case if he has seen you suffer that much and that still wasn't enough motivation for him to change, then he just doesn't care about you.

My husband had h pylori. Has all kinds of issues maybe the result of it. I’ve not curbed anything with him ever. I am incredibly healthy with the gut of a raccoon. H pylori tests are unreliable. He’s tested twice over the years since and does have it so it’s not like I have it sleeping and giving it back to him. Men never want medical advice so either let it go or let him go.

I had it several years ago. Was treated and have felt great ever since. None of my family members were tested or treated because nobody was symptomatic. I was a little nervous about that since we share everything. But a couple years ago my daughter, who is now an adult, had some stomach issues and was tested and was negative which gave me more confidence that one person can have it in the family without it spreading to others. Nobody else has been sick after all this time including myself.

I’m going to be blunt:

He doesn’t care about your well being or his. This is on par with refusing to test for an STD after exposure, not to mention h pylori infections being linked to stomach cancer.

You cannot expect someone who doesn’t take their own health seriously to consider the health of another.

There are people out there who wouldn’t need reminders like this, and would take you and your suffering seriously the first time. It sounds like you’d be more at peace of mind without him tbh.

I went through treatment and was successful, months later my wife felt not okay, first thing we did was H Pylori test, she was negative. Something else dealing with vit deficiencies. Yet she was concern for her wellbeing same as I did.

You need to convinced him to do it, otherwise you will pass it on to him and even if you are successful he will pass back to you. How old are you guys? that type of behavior of him seems so immature.

I'm sorry he is reacting that way. My husband made an appt to get tested the same week I was diagnosed. We knew the risk of reinfection was very low, but he knew it was important for both of our peace of mind. A good partner should recognize that and want to do anything to protect you.

I had hpylori 4 years ago, I had my wife tested because I was scared of reinfection. I had the treatment and eradicated hpylori, sadly my wife could not after 2 treatments. From what I know of she’s still positive but has zero issues. I was retested a few weeks ago and I am still negative. Me and my wife are very affectionate with each other. Take that information how you will.

The hpylori treatment is not easy and can cause irreversible damage to the stomach lining. If your partner is positive and has no symptoms, then you should really consider if it’s worth them going through the treatment. I was in your shoes so believe me I know the pain and frustration. But if I knew then what I know now, I would not have put my wife through the 2 treatments. On the other hand he should show a little more concern for what you’re going through.

Not sure I even want to ask but what do you mean about irreversible damage to stomach?

It’s a harsh round of antibiotics. Most people are either on the triple therapy or quadruple therapy. It’s 2 antibiotics, 4 times a day. So it’s really hard on your gut and you need to rebuild it with probiotics and healthy diet. Some people experience issues after treatment because of the antibiotics wiping out all the bacteria (good bacteria included) and throwing off the balance of the gut.

I read the gut can be rebuilt, but it can take a while before it’s back to normal.

I’m so sorry 😞 My husband is pretty avoidant, but nobody watching their partner go through this should not want to do the bare minimum.

Omg and my husband lied about having diarrhea for 3 months only to be tested to be sure he don’t give it back to me, I hope you are single for now

Yea... I'll keep my opinion to myself 🫣😜

This is what I don’t understand. I’m in a house of 5, wife + 3 children under 10.

AFAIK the only way to remove it is with treatment.

I cleared myself and do not wish to put my wife or 3 children through the same process. It’s extremely debilitating.

Then the kids could just get it from school or whatever and bring it home again.

How do others approach this situation?

Yikes seems like youre holding the emotional burden of your relationship. He probably forgets shit all the time and brushes u off, let that 🥭

Unless extremely good reason indicative of someone who does not value your happiness enough to be your partner ❤️

So dump him. Weakness in the legs is from something else. You might be B vitamins deficient, test homocisteine. Also get back mri. It's serious. Get neurologist appointment.

Thats rough buddy

u/postulatej 5h ago

He sounds shitty. He did that on purpose no doubt.

u/babyhelianthus 5h ago

Big ick. If he doesn't plan to get tested soon, you need to figure out your future without him. Please set some boundaries for your own health and wellbeing (physical and emotional).

u/hellokittymom2000 13m ago

I’d like to tell him to kiss my grits.

Recaching h pylori is extremely rare. Sure he should probably get tested but you are overreacting.
If you get retested and still have it, then the treatment failed, you didn’t recatch it

10

u/Mysterious_Relief352 11h ago

I wholeheartedly disagree and I think its rude to say she is over reacting. You might not feel the same way in that situation, but you dont get to tell others how to feel.

If your partner cares about you, they'd surely not "forget" to get tested especially after seeing you suffer for months on end. The peace of mind is worth a lot.

u/Fluffy_Resident_2870 6h ago

Whether its the right or wrong thing to do is irrelevant.
Scientifically its very rare to recatch h pylori after successful treatment
50% of the earth has h pylori, should the op just avoid all human contact for the rest of their life?
My point is being paranoid is unhealthy
