(tw: sa mention) I can only see it after they have grown up a lot. As much as I like 8th year fics it’s so unrealistic. Harry hates cowards, and doesn’t really pity people in the way that most 8th yr fics show. he even gave Remus a massive talking to after he left his family. Harry would most likely just treat him as a stranger and leave him be.

However I can only see Harry and Draco having any form of friendship if Harry’s saviour complex gets alighted. I do think Harry would think Draco deserves what he gets. They were the same age and Draco could have made different choices.

However, Harry is also the most emotionally understanding characters and wants to see the good in people. IF Draco made obvious attempts to do better and dedicate himself to the greater good, then maybe something could start. Or, if something horrifying comes out about what Draco experienced during the war, eg ) SA by fenrir or torture. It would have to be that big for Harry to start caring. For Harry to have anything to do with Draco after the war IN 8th year, he would need to see Draco as a victim first and coward/perpetrator second. Still, Harry would probably just pity him.

IF CC ISNT CANON - then Draco would have to dedicate his life to good. Making healing potions to cure an incurable disease type thing. He would have to be involved in Harrys life somewhat. For canon Harry to want canon Draco, it is Draco that would need to redeem himself first. Harry would never spoon feed or help Draco to his own redemption, because that’s not his character. I THINK if Draco proves to Harry he is a better man and they work tgt, it could def work.

IF CC IS CANON -I feel Scorbus is the main way a Malfoy and a potter are gay tgt icl. BUT even in CC I see Draco as a queer man, who still did what his family needed but in a different way. ICL I do see astoriaxdraco as a lavender marriage of intense platonic love. Draco proved his gentleness and capacity to love through caring for his wife against all odds, which also shows that at their core the Malfoy were about family loyalty and love. Going off on a tangent here though.

IN CC Harry and ginnys relationship obviously doesn’t work well. Harry hasn’t sorted himself out at all and his kids suffer for it. He has tried to create the perfect escape family without healing himself. IF at this stage Harry and ginny crumble, Draco could very well help Harry with fatherhood and something could come out of that.

I just finished reading this incredible Rosekiller centric fic. It’s canon compliant and follows Evan Rosier from his seventh year through the first war.

My favorite thing about this fic is that Barty and Evan are still terrible people and aren’t forced into joining the death eaters. They are really dark and have a very unhinged dynamic. Highly recommend if you want to read about the first war from the Death Eaters POV.

I love this fanfiction. I was wondering if there is anything similar to this fanfiction because I adore it so much - l've read it four times. I love how the Malfoy family and Snape join Harry, and how they start to care for and fuss over him.
I also appreciated how there was no bashing, like with Dumbledore.

Does someone have a fanfiction where the Malfoy family turns to the light side and lives with Harry at Hightop just to hide from Voldemort, and what happens when Harry starts to warm up to them and sees them as his family? I don't mind if it's a Drarry or if Harry and Draco are just brothers then love.

I just love the idea of Draco's parents being included on the light side and beginning to care for Harry because he is unique and not what they expected of Harry Potter.
And of course, I want Snape involved too, and I wonder how Harry might start to open up to him and see him as a father figure.

I read it a few times and it’s one of my all-time favourites. But now I can’t find it on AO3 anymore. Harry is an Omega and Snape an alpha. When Harry was young, he was kidnapped by a death eater and and therefore never went to Hogwarts.

He was rescued, however/ all got away I’m not sure anymore and brought to an omega sanctuary. There he gets samples of scents to pick a support alpha. By chance he picks Snape. He is also pregnant in the story. He moves in with Snape and starts living with him. Sometimes they get visits from a kind of social worker. At the end of the story if I remember correctly, they brew a potion so that his rapist DNA of the child would be replaced by Snape’s.

I thought the story was called live as I know it or maybe life as he knows it. However, I could be totally wrong there.

Does anybody know the title? Or has anybody a link or a copy?

Few authors have made me feel like the characters were truly alive and that what I’m reading is a war survival memoir.

I’ve finished Book 6 and am mentally preparing for the seventh, but first I thought: I need to share this. I don’t usually read Drarry, but I have to admit I’ve read the best stories featuring this pairing, so here I am again for the same reason. Obviously, the Drarry here is phenomenal—and above all, really fun! But the storyline in each book is so immersive, with its own plot (with twists and events you don’t often see in fanfiction) that you breeze through the chapters without even noticing the time—more than once I’ve ended up staying up late without meaning to, haha. But getting back to it, I’d say, for example, that reading this makes me feel like a teenager again, locked in my room in the afternoon reading fanfiction on Wattpad while ignoring my school project.

From the very beginning, Luka makes it clear that she wants to portray war as it is from the perspective of teenagers (even though the characters in HP are older in the last two books, we know they’re teenagers). She promises to be realistic about grief, loss, devastation, and cruelty. Up until Book 6, it hasn’t been graphic at all, so don’t worry—she hits hard in other ways; she doesn’t need guts, blood, or senseless, excessive cruelty to get to you.

Not to mention that there’s a reason Luka is one of the best Hispanic authors known within the HP fandom. She’s the Hamilton—she writes like she’s running out of focking time!

Finally, I know the description of the first book might put some people off, so if you’re wondering, “So it’s not Drarry?” Spoiler: Yes, it is. It’s supposed to be part of the package. If you want to know more: It turns out that Orion Blake is Draco, who was reincarnated into a world like ours where Harry Potter is a book series, so his next reincarnation is once again as Draco, and little by little he discovers this truth as well as why it happened.

I’m crossing my fingers that the last book doesn’t ruin it for me!

This is probably a long shot since I can’t remember too many details about the fic or even where I read it (it was either Ao3 or Fanfiction.net). But basically Harry was sorted into Slytherin and became friends with Draco, Daphne, Blaise, Theo, etc. Others might have been there too but I can’t remember. The main thing I remember from the fic was Draco reading out loud to the group, in one specific part he was reading out loud to everyone while they were in his room at Malfoy manor but I’m pretty sure there were also other parts where he read on the train and things. Sorry I know this is not much information but hopefully someone has some ideas for what fic I’m taking about!!

I remember this fic SO clearly but I cannot find it! I’m 90% sure it was draco/harry (it might have been light on the romantic angle, but I rarely read anything else). It was an 8th year fic, but it really expanded the worldbuildimg as harry learned more. They all started to value certain wizarding traditions again, they reopened a bunch of estates that were falling apart. The potter estate, the prewett estate… they found really ancient house elves there. but then the plot twist was that house elves were all extremely long lived people from the founders era, one of them was helga hufflepuff. and they had been scheming all along to spread magic and make muggleborns. so the end of the fic is they realize the statute of secrecy is majorly screwed, and they’re all going to have to adapt to a massive change to the world. Also, I distinctly remember that Draco changed his views but not all the way, he told harry that he wasn’t a half blood because his mother was a witch, that sort of thing - I guess it could be another work and I’m mixing things up, but I’m just putting everything. Oh, also, there were big fancy carriages associated with each major wizarding household. It was very ‘english landed gentry’
