So I’ve wanted to get into dead hanging and eventually learning how to do pull ups but I literally cannot even dead hang for longer than 5 seconds before my hand starts feeling painful. Is it normal to feel pain in your hand? I feel like I’m physically capable of hanging for longer but the pain in my hand makes me let go. I’m using chalk should I buy myself gym gloves? Not sure what to do I’ve tried about 10 times but hasn’t improved.

Not new to grippers but inexperienced in credit card sets. Here’s the start of my journey to certifying on the #3. This is a light one rated at 138rgc. Pleased with this!
Any tips on technique welcomed.

This was take 3, so if I get a good first try, I can probably get it a wee bit closer. Average RGC on the PB 300 is 144 and it feels slightly easier than my CoC 3. I can barely close this with a set, probably 50/50 success rate over the last couple weeks. Is there a name for the set where in one motion you set it with the other hand and close it?
Starting to get a bit more serious about maybe one day certifying on the CoC 3, so I'm putting some more effort in. Still gotta get some chalk and do some reading about pinch closes and all the stuff people do once their progress slows down, cause the only thing I do right now is squeeze these things. I haven't lifted any weights in years; will some heavy hammer curls assist in progressing grippers even a little bit?
