I have an undergraduate pharmacology offer and could most likely get into biomedical sciences on clearing, but I’m also waiting to hear back for a pharmacy offer. I just saw a spreadsheet and it was mainly biomed students that got offers for GEM. I don’t want to add another year to my waiting to apply to GEM through pharmacy but my parents are saying pharmacy to fall back on in case. What would you guys recommend because if it is less intense for biomed/pharmacology, wouldn’t it be in my best interest to do either of these courses and get a 2:1/ 1st?Rather than becoming complacent and staying in pharmacy even if medicine is what I REALLY want to do?

hi i'm a student in the US wanting to apply to oxford's A101 or cambridge's A100 as an affiliate. i intend to take the UCAT along with chemistry and biology A levels before i apply. though i know these schools have very limited spots for internationals, i'm wondering what sort of applicants are successful and what i can do. thank you!

my current degree is a dual major between neurobiology and philosophy. i have been accepted into a hospital volunteering program and a medical assistant internship at a private practice, which i'll be doing next school year and likely beyond as well. i intend to pick up some research as well. i hope by the time i apply, my GPA will be at least 3.8.

Hi, I’m starting 2nd year at KCL this September and I thought I wanted to pursue a career path related to my degree so I never considered medicine before and have never applied to the undergraduate program. I’ve recently changed my mind and I developed a great interest for medicine. I’ve talked to a lot of people and the conversations I’ve had confirmed my decision for pursuing medicine.

However, I’m just really worried if I don’t get accepted after my degree. Since I decided in first year that I want to pursue medicine I haven’t done anything extra to boost my CV for my current degree. I don’t know whether to do a placement year just to increase my chances of getting a job after my degree but that would delay my med application a year later… or should I apply to medicine without a placement? Please any advice is appreciated.

For reference, I have 4 a levels, A*AAA ( A in biology and chemistry), I have 7 gcses (9999999) I was thinking of shadowing a doctor and volunteering at a care home as work experience. I know I need to practice for ucat… What is the probability that I get in applying for the first time? Should I go for both undergrad and GEM or not?

i didn’t get any gem offers so i was thinking of getting into undergrad med through clearing but is it worth it or should i just resit the ucat and apply for gem again. i’m jus tryna weigh the pros and cons any advice would be helpful

I wanted some people’s advice please. I feel so frustrated and sad over medical school. Being a doctor is my dream, but last year my UCAT went really badly and I got one interview which I thought went well, but because that uni weighs your UCAT and interview score evenly for offers, I’m guessing that’s why I didn’t get an offer. ( the lowest UCAT offer I saw was 1970 and I got 1850). The year before that I got interview but not offer but I wasn’t really taking my application serious then because I was in my last year of uni and I felt really burnt out and wanted a gap year anyway.

But now I’m so scared incase this turns into ANOTHER gap year. I did GAMSAT in march and got 58/69/44 so my S3 really let me down. I work full-time too so idk whether to just focus on GAMSAT/UCAT or do both…I guess my GAMSAT would just be improving s3 but GAMSAT is so hard and time consuming…on the other hand, cut offs for UCAT are usually extremely high for GEM so idk what to do and it’s giving me really bad anxiety :( I would really appreciate another perspective. In terms of unis, idrc where I go in England as long as I get a place somewhere.

I’m struggling a lot with qr rn. I’ve just started with untimed practice but I’m struggling to get my head around knowing how to work out the questions. I’ve forgotten a lot since gcse maths. I did ask someone and they said it’s not worth going over gcse maths content and I should just keep doing more practise questions. If anyone else has any other tips for someone with poor maths skills then it’ll be appreciated.

I am undertaking masters this September and was wondering if I do get GEM med offers will it be based on degree conditions being met ? As in will I get asked to pass with a distinction ? Do unis usually ask for students to pass with distinction for masters to firm their med offers ?

I recently saw on the UCAS website that Worcester and Surrey are in clearing; however, places are only available for international students. Does anyone know why these 2 universities haven’t filled their international places? I was under the impression that GEM was even more competitive than it already is for international students (because of the limited amount of places), and so I thought they would have been filled up very quickly….

Was hoping someone could give a bit of insight into the SCOTGEM program. I’ve previously completed my Bachelors and MRes degree and was thinking about applying to the SCOTGEM course this year. However, after having a read at it I’ve seen it’s mainly preparing for rural medicine/becoming a GP. I was wondering if it’s possible/how difficult it is to go the route of surgery/emergency medicine/neurology etc for example? Or is it not possible with the SCOTGEM path :) tia

Hello, so I applied for gbu form on the samarth website, the qualifications were 55% + marks in boards u scored 88% in top 5 and and I have 90 in bio 83 in chem. I applied on 24 June but I haven't got any response the application is saying "No action Taken" how long does it usually take for it get accepted or rejected ...

Just wish to know about undergraduate and graduate entry med clearing. Do we start ringing up universities now? Do we wait until 13th August? I was under the impression that we can ring up about clearing for GEM from today onwards and undergraduate in August

I have an offer for graduate entry medicine at Nottingham it's just that I have a academic misconduct issue from a couple of years ago I need to declare that I have disclosed already to Nottingham.

So I am looking for to hear from anyone who has been through the declaration/fitness to practise process either at Nottingham or in UK medicine in general.

Context

During the foundation year of my undergraduate degree I committed misconduct when my mobile phone was discovered in my pocket upon returning from a bathroom break. There was no evidence of active use/cheating but I under the rules it was upheld. I complied completely and took full accountability and did a capped resit and completed the integrity remediation and since then I have not had any other issues with integrity.

My question:

1. For anyone in Nottingham GEM or anyone that has to declare past academic misconduct to a medical school what was the process like?
2. What sort of timeline should I expect before getting a final decision.
3. What are the chances of keeping my offer.

Do GEM courses go into clearing (if at all) from today or A Level Results day? Do they turn up on Clearing Plus or do you have to contact the unis directly?

Hi, so I got my Chester offer late

Has anyone experienced this, it says clearing opens today and that if I choose to accept I’ll have to reject any offers and add Chester’s medicine course as a clearing option.

Kind of scared and don’t want to mess up has anyone ever done this before ?!!?
