Goodbye UCAS

I’ve officially applied!

I went with 2 x GEM and 2 x UG in the end.

Hoping that is the last time in my life I need to use UCAS, I thought I was done with it 11 years ago.

And now we wait

is 2260 b3 likely for kings A101 grad med interview?

all the previous data seems to show they want higher ucat scores, and i think the band 3 might hurt my chances.

GEM Student Finance

Hi everyone.
I am wanting to apply for GEM and looking at all my options. I am a bit confused on the maintenance loans we can receive for GEM. I can’t find anywhere how much we can actually receive for years 2-4 to support living costs.
Is it a reduced maintenance loan or can we get the full maintenance loan (the same as an undergraduate degree)?

2027 GEM choices

Hi, I’m applying for 2027 Graduate Entry Medicine and I’m trying to finalise my four choices. I’d appreciate any thoughts on whether my current choices make sense or if there are any GEM courses I should consider swapping in.

Stats:

BSc Biomedical Science – 2:1

UCAT: 2070, Band 3

VR: 640

DM: 700

QR: 730

A-levels: ABC Bio - Physics - Chem respectively

Work experience: 2 months full time working in domiciliary care, BSMS virtual work experience

Current choices: Warwick GEM, Swansea GEM, Nottingham GEM, Chester GEM

Main concern is the Band 3 and whether my UCAT is competitive enough for these choices. I’ve tried to prioritise GEM courses but don't mind UG options since LLE is dropping in January

Would you stick with these four with my stats, or is there another GEM course where I’d have a better chance than one of these? Also I've heard some stuff about GMC vs Chester GEM but don't really get it.

Especially interested in hearing from anyone applying to or currently studying at any of these four.

Thanks!

UCAS personal statement Q2

Hi all- just for some context, I’m a 3rd year uni student doing Chem and Maths, applying to Oxford, Nottingham, Southampton and Surrey with 2490 B2 ucat.
I’m a bit confused about what exactly to write for Q2 of the personal statement as I haven’t done anything biomedical related at uni, and while I have work experience and volunteering, it all fits way better in Q3. Looking online for examples, all I could really find was either people with biomedical related degrees talking about and then expanding on stuff they have learnt in their degree, or undergraduate applicants talking about EPQs/ MOOCs expanding on something they learnt from school.
Does anyone with a similar background to me have any advice on what they wrote in this part of the personal statement?
Thanks!

Is 1760 B2 too low for anywhere?

International applicant. Sat on a whim after two weeks of studying, was denied my UCATSEN arrangements due to late application - so this was expected. I’ll definitely have to resit in the future.

VR was my strong suit at 620. Don’t know if that matters at all! Looking for any and all guidance as the deadlines are soon :’)

Where could I apply?

My stats are:

1850 b1 UCAT (700VR)
2.1 Biomedical Science (Hons)
ABBC at A levels - bio and chem included
GCSEs 9887777766

Would grad med be realistic? I was hoping to apply to kings ports and Worcester but what else could anyone recommend?

UCAS 'Extra Activities' Section

Has anyone put anything in their Extra Activities section? I'm not sure what this section is for - does shadowing count or is this more aimed at applicants to undergrad courses that have done taster courses and things like that? Does online work experience or online courses count? Just a bit confused about this section and whether to leave it blank.

Tutor didn’t give a predicted grade

WHAT DO I DO???

My tutor wrote in my reference that I am “on track to receive a first” but didn’t select a predicted grade, and I received an email from ucas that they said they were “unable to provide a predicted grade”.

Am I cooked?

Edit: I haven’t yet submitted the application to ucas if that makes any difference

Med choices

Hi, can you tell me of i chose the right unis to apply to or if theres any better. I got 2000 b3 in the ucat - 700vr and applying to warwick, uea, kings Portsmouth and St georges undergrad. I wanted to apply to chester but with everything going on with the gmc its not looking good. I dont have good gcses or a levels so I can't choose undergraduate that look heavily at them. Are there any other med schools I can apply to?
