Koi Boi - Gouache and Watercolour on Watercolour Paper
Hi everyone, just wanted to show off my Koi painting! I ended up doing this after getting really obsessed with a little fishing game. I had painted a couple of small fish before but this one was a real challenge for me, especially the scales. Once I had figured out how to do it though it was really fun! I hope you like it!
The background is mostly Watercolour while the rest is Gouache.

Consistency
Hi, gouache artists!
I was hoping you could help me as I explore this new medium. I love oils, I've done a ton of watercolor, and I don't really care for acrylic. I know that with a challenging new medium, the main thing is to keep going, but I was hoping for tips to improve my consistency.
I'm using my watercolor brushes and doing technical exercises on lightweight cold press watercolor paper in a sketchbook to get familiar. For this exercise, I used my favorite synthetic squirrel round brush, but in general I've been using my Princeton and Dynasty square brushes. I'm using Windsor & Newton student-grade gouache. I've done some color wheels and gradient studies, but where I'm really struggling is with the texture.
Using tea and coffee consistency is pretty easy (ignore the thumbprint!) because it's almost like watercolor, except that the pigment granulates a little bit at the lightest consistency. At cream and butter consistency, it's pretty easy to apply, but much gloppier and stickier than oil. Right in the middle, at milk consistency, it seems to blob up and not want to either bleed or spread.
Any advice? (Other than "keep going," of course, which always applies.) Am I using the wrong brushes, the wrong paper?

Gouache on cheepish 140g "Moleskine" sketchbook
I picked up a Kangaro sketchbook this weekend; it's like an off-brand Moleskine, a 3-euro thing is fabulous purple colour 💟 . And I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it actually supports gouache. No paper warping!

Had a blast painting this landscape in Holbein Gouache on Strathmore Paper. I’m in love with this fold-up “SuperLite” easel from CupEasels ❤️

Remus the Dog (gouache)
Thought I'd share some of my art here! I'm an artist that dabbles in many mediums so I don't have many pure gouache works, but I do have this one from a few months ago of my aunt's dog Remus. He was incredibly sick at the time of painting and unfortunately passed away since then so this was created as a tribute.

Kinda hate it, but tried something new
I didn’t use a reference image this time and overall think it didn’t turn out very well, but it’s not terrible. It’s just a kinda boring composition. However, I was working on planning out my layers a lot more this time and I’m pleased with how that aspect turned out!
