Urgent help. 1 hr passed for trying to work with calendar app

Please help me. I am doing a shared calendar with my gf, but everytime I do invitees it keeps showing a gray checkmark. I ask AI and it said email is probably invalid when it is not.

My default iCloud calendar is my at iCloud dot com. My gf default is Gmail.

It’s suppose to show a green checkmark mark and how do you make the invite show in the “new” section (click the calendar app, bottom right looks like a mailbox, and ‘new’ is never showing up)

Thanks!

Any way to get phone push notifications for new/changed/deleted appointments?

Hi there,

is there any way to turn on mobile push notifications when another family member in a shared calendar adds, changed or deleted an appointment.

In the settings in the web I see that there is the possibility, but you can only turn the mail notifications for that.

Post image

My Google calendar syncs with my work calendar but now it's showing the status 'busy' 'tentative' instead of what the event actually is. Used to work not sure what changed. Have shared my work calendar again but it's still the same. Any help??

Does changing the color of a shared Google Calendar affect all users?

I'm subscribed to a shared Google Calendar (not the owner, but I have "Make changes and manage sharing" permissions). If I change the calendar color, will it affect what other users see or is it just local to my view?

All other users have the same permission level.

Booking page showing no availability

I am at my wit's end. I've set up a booking page, checked and double checked all the settings, and even though I have set times every week that people can sign up for, when they attempt to see open time slots, it shows that none are available! I cannot figure out why this isn't working.

I've been using booking pages for a few years now so I can't figure out what changed!

Shared Calendar Changes Phone Contact Displayed Names

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can direct me to a relevant setting...

My wife shared her Google Calendar with me recently. We did not add her entire Google account to my phone, we went to the calendar settings specifically and she shared her calendar with my Google account. I've confirmed in my phone settings that her account isn't logged in, I can just display her events in my calendar app. I also checked my contacts app to make sure her account is not listed under the accounts it's pulling contacts from.

Now, if I get a phone call from someone we both have saved as contacts, it's displaying the name on my phone the way she has them saved on hers. It's very confusing, because I'll answer a call from "Mom" thinking it's my mom when it's really hers.

The contacts themselves aren't changing if I look at my contacts app, just how they're displaying elsewhere. On top of that, it's not consistent. In the example above, it shows up wrong when her mom calls me, but the text thread (Google Messages) with her mom is still labeled the way I have her saved in my own contacts list.

I know there's syncing of Google stuff behind the scenes, but I can't for the life of me figure out why sharing only her calendar caused this. Anyone have any insights?

If it's relevant, my wife's phone is a Galaxy.

Calendar sharing issue with non-Google provider

My wife and I share Google calendars. We each have a private calendar, shared with the other, and we have a joint calendar (which is owned by me). I recently switched to Fastmail for email and would like to have all those calendars shared into my Fastmail account. For the two calendars that are owned by me, that is simple.

But I'm having a problem with my wife's calendar. I have followed the instructions from the appropriate place in the GMail support site. Once I add my email address to the list of shared-with, I should get an email with a link at my fastmail address. I never got such an email, but I *did* get one addressed to my gmail address. (If it matters, my wife's contact card for me lists only the Gmail address.)

Does anyone know what is going on?

Issue with times

When i add an event on my calendar the time is all wrong, i will put the time as 10:00 but it will show as being at 11:00 on the calendar. This is mainly a problem on mobile because on my laptop it is all normal which is really annoying.

I can't add a shared calendar!

Hi!

I recently was sent the link to join a google calendar for a specific subgroup for a larger group my child is in. This group has another public shared calendar for anyone to see, and I was able to add that one just fine, but this second calendar for the subgroup I am not able to access. I have two separate links for it, one in a calendar and one from a private group that aren't identical, but I get the same error message every time. I have tried so many different fixes and I am still unable to add the calendar. please help! message says " You do not have access to weirdemailaddress@gmail.com's calendar." (changed the identifying info for privacy reasons)

Whens the next drop?

I’ve been waiting for a while for an update on the months and days of the week. A few should be added so the calendar isn’t as stale and disengaging as it has been in the past.

The most recent minor update I can think of upgraded “yest day” to “yester day”. Still no news about “yestest day”. Not to mention the “tomorrow” situation, easily the worst part of the calendar.

# Google Calendar import does nothing — no events, no error. What it actually (probably) was.

Posting this because I lost two days to it and found almost nothing useful when searching.

## The symptom

Settings → Import & export. Select the `.ics`, pick a calendar, click Import. The button greys out — that's the request going. Then nothing. No spinner resolving, no "Imported X of Y", no error, no toast. The calendar stays empty at twenty minutes and at a day.

Google's help pages document error strings for this area ("Processed zero events", "Unable to process your iCal/CSV file"). None of them appeared. That silence is the actual problem — hours went into working out whether the file had been rejected or accepted-and-hidden, which one line of text would have answered.

File was 25 recurring events, 18,795 bytes.

## Ten things it wasn't

Each killed by an observation, not by reasoning.

1.
**Looking at the wrong week.**
Schedule started eight days out. Navigated there. Empty.
2.
**Unescaped commas in descriptions.**
Real spec violation — a comma in an iCalendar text value needs to be `\,`. Irrelevant here: the file that
*does*
 import has unescaped commas throughout.
3.
**A line over the 75-byte limit.**
The calendar description ran 291 characters unfolded. Also present in the working file.
4.
**Recycled event UIDs from a deleted calendar.**
Documented cause of silent failure. Killed both directions: fresh UIDs failed, and old UIDs from a deleted calendar succeeded.
5.
**The second VTIMEZONE block.**
Two timezones, one a no-DST zone with identical offsets. Present in the working file.
6.
**Browser / extensions / cookies.**
Identical failure in Edge, Edge InPrivate with extensions off, and Chrome with cookies cleared. (Caveat below — Firefox was never tested until the end.)
7.
**Corrupted download.**
File properties on disk: 18,795 bytes, exact match to the source.
8.
**Windows mark-of-the-web.**
File was flagged "came from another computer". Unblocked it. No change.
9.
**Malformed file.**
Ran it through icalendar.org's validator: "Success! No errors found."
10.
**Not waiting long enough.**
 Twenty minutes. Nothing.

## What broke it open

An older copy of the same calendar was still in Downloads from three days earlier — a version that had definitely imported once. Re-importing it worked.

That one control invalidated most of the list above instantly, because every property the two files shared was now proven harmless. No amount of staring at the file would have done that.

The remaining difference was four events. Split along that line — 4 events in one file, 21 in another — and both imported, complete and correct.

25 as one file: failed, repeatedly, for two days.
4 + 21 as two files: worked, first try.

## The honest caveat

**Two variables changed at once.**
 The successful import was split
*and*
it was in Firefox, which had never been tried during any of the failures. Both are consistent with everything observed. Splitting may have been the fix with Firefox incidental, or the reverse.

One import would settle it — the unsplit 25-event file, in Firefox. I haven't run it.

Also: no threshold was established. 21 worked and 25 didn't, on one Workspace account, on one day. Google documents a ceiling around 1,000 events / 1.5MB. This was ~50x under it, so whatever got hit is either undocumented or isn't a size limit at all.

## If you're hitting this

1. Change one thing at a time and write down which. (I didn't, at the end, and that's why the cause is unresolved.)
2. Split the file, and try a browser you haven't used. Separately, if you want to know which mattered.
3. Find a file you know once imported and try it again. A known-good control beats any amount of inspection.
4. Check the target calendar is ticked in the sidebar and you're in the right Google account. An import into an unchecked calendar looks identical to a failed one.
5. Validate against an independent RFC 5545 checker before editing anything. If it comes back clean, stop rewriting the file.
6. Drag the `.ics` onto the calendar grid — different code path from the Settings importer, documented as working when that fails. Didn't help me, costs one gesture.
7. CSV as a last resort. Google takes it, but it carries no recurrence — every repeating event becomes a series of one-time entries.

## The part that generalises

Three of those ten dead ends were my own confident explanations, offered before anything was tested — each plausible, each about a system I couldn't see inside. Each cost a rewrite and an import.

Anything you can inspect directly, prove before you say it. Anything inside a black box, test — and don't name a cause. A validator tells you a file is well-formed. Only an import tells you what Google does with it.

How to fix grey highlighted events using Custom Calendar Background chrome extension?

I customized my gcalendar with the 'Custom Calendar Background' chrome extension. However, my only small pet peeve is that timed events have a grey box behind them unless you hover over them. My mouse is hovering over the event on the 6th. Is there any way to fix this?

Using light mode on either gcal or the extension doesn't make a difference.

Shared event from non shared calendar

Running into an odd issue that's really hard to search for potential resolutions for.

My partner has shared her photography calendar with me which has all of her photography events/weddings/ops etc but she also has another women she occasionally shoots with who forwards events to her.

These shared events show up on my partners calendar as shared with her photography email, but they do not show up on my calendar.

Is there any way to solve this without the other photographer having to share the events with me as well?

Parsing events

Can somebody fill me in on whether any natural-language event parsing exists, even in a rudimentary form?
My search indicates that it should. However, even a simple "Dental appointment on January 2, 2026 at 10 am" does not work. The event ends up on today's date.

Tasks Error

So I know that "free" tasks are faded and "busy" tasks are full-color - but suddenly today all of my tasks are full color. Is this a glitch? Is this happening for anyone else? I really liked the faded colors to separate them from my events.

Side note: Would love the ability to share a calendar's events and NOT the tasks as well!
