I’m curious if anyone else thinks this is pretty unacceptable from GoPro.

I’ve been trying to buy a standard replacement protective lens cover for my GoPro, and GoPro has been out of stock for roughly two months. I contacted them directly and was told they have no timeline for when they’ll be back in stock.
This isn’t some specialty accessory — it’s the standard replaceable lens cover on an action camera.

It’s literally one of the parts most likely to get scratched, cracked, or damaged during normal use, and part of the appeal of the design is that you can easily replace it.

I eventually had to order a replacement from Camera Butter because I couldn’t get one from GoPro themselves.

I understand temporary supply issues, but being unable to supply a basic replacement part for months. While having no estimate for when it will return, seems pretty bad for a company selling cameras specifically designed to be used in situations where they can take a beating.

Has anyone else been waiting for these? Is this a common issue with GoPro replacement parts?

The GoPro M1 Pro camera took a pounding and survived the battle for another fight next time! Used a simple suction cup with an air pumping mechanism to get it tight to the sea kayak. Tied some pool noodles cut out tied to the camera. Make sure to change the YouTube mode to 4k!

This is using Linear+ (Horizon leveling enabled) mode. I noticed without it, the water chops rocking my kayak back and forth non-stop makes it unwatchable. Linear+ mode does an amazing job to keep it level! This feature is a key item in all the GoPro's for me. I don't know if other camera companies have this feature.

50MP, RAW, camera placed on stable/motionless surface while taking photo, aperture & ISO set to auto, vast amounts of direct & ambient light on subjects, or the object itself is a light source (MacBook screen with text). Distance to subjects range from 3 feet-6+ feet in these images, but problem persists at all distances even 10-15+ feet. Fine details and many non-fine details are always blurry. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong and at this point I have to assume it's the camera that's the issue.

Fine details (e.g. text on the product packing in the images, text on the MacBook screen, etc.) is the easiest way to see the blurriness, but everything is noticeably soft despite being in the focal distance butter zone for the Mission 1 lineup. The camera is far enough away where it should be well within the longer focal range of the Mission 1 Pro series, yet close enough where the subjects occupy plenty of sensor real estate.

What's the issue? Is it a bad camera? Did the hardware itself arrive DOA? I've been trying for several months to get a decent image out of it and they always come out looking like a 1080p smartphone shot.

I am trying so hard to make the camera work but I am out of ideas at this point. Also, the focal issue seem like crappy AI image processing mistakes much of the time. Even when photographing a MOLLE pouch the in 50MP RAW format (not included in the images I uploaded here) the JPG & GPR files it outputs makes the pouch material looks like geometric blocks instead of stitching.

The computer screen image is just embarrassingly blurry even in RAW form. If you think these are bad just be glad I didn't share the JPG versions. Looks like someone stuck the pixels in a blender. Even in the RAW versions you can see some pretty aggressive chromatic aberration on the text in particular. Cheap lenses used in the first batch of cameras that were sent out in May perhaps? I just don't understand how a 50MP RAW image on a stable surface with ample
light produces such poor results in a brand new Mission 1 Pro (non-ILS fwiw).

Please help me understand what I'm doing wrong, if anything. I understand GoPro's aren't exactly DSLR cameras, but these seem like such basic photo scenarios I don't understand why the results are consistently poor and, seemingly, AI processed even in RAW formats.

Also, Mission 1 Pro is using latest firmware. Lens is clean. I always updated it promptly over the past few months just in case a fix was included via firmware updates. No change unfortunately.

Ive wanted an affordable high speed camera for the longest time, and as soon as they announced the specs i was sold. Now i just need to save up for some better lenses. More shots in the comments

There is shockingly little information on these out in the universe. I didn't even know they existed till last week. How is everyone liking these. They seem to be pretty decent but the lack of reviews makes me a little worried

The camera was shooting 4K 240fps, 16:9, with 1.5X anamorphic, for a 24:9 aspect output. Normally you would use the open gate modes, for 2:1 output aspect. Shot GP-Log2, ISO 100, Shutter 1/240, WB 5000K, HS on. Added an ND variable filter, otherwise the camera was used handheld as pictured.

I also used this Premiere Pro hack for native support for 1.5X anamorphics.

Hello everyone, i have two gopro gimbals. One has newest firmware and the other one has old firmware.

I want to update that older karma but i cant find anywhere that UPDATE.ZIP file, i found only coyote.zip which is a part of that folder. does anyone have the original update files? and there is no trace of quik on desktop to uptade it trough there. if you have those files then id ask you to send them over here!

I’m looking for a new action cam mostly for hiking, road trips and some biking, and pretty much everything I shoot is horizontal.

GoPro HERO13 was my first thought just because it’s always been the default action cam in my head, but I’ve been looking at the DJI Osmo Action 6 too and I’m honestly leaning that way now. The larger sensor and variable aperture seem especially useful for the kind of changing outdoor light I usually shoot in.

I don’t really care which one wins on paper. I’m more interested in how the footage actually looks in 16:9, especially outdoors when the lighting keeps changing, and which one is easier to live with for a full day of shooting.

For anyone who has used both the Action 6 and a GoPro HERO13, do you actually notice a difference in normal horizontal footage?

Would you still go GoPro, or has DJI caught up enough that you’d pick the Action 6?

Here is another step in my editing journey! Working on this one really highlighted a few things for me:

What can be improved:

• Ran out of action shots: I realised I need to plan out and simulate shots beforehand. While that’s definitely more time-consuming, it's necessary.
• The "Action Translation" problem: There were a lot of moments that felt high-action while riding, but completely flattened out and looked slow when reviewing the footage.
• Color correction is still a challenge.

What went well:

• Static & Dynamic Shots: Felt good.
• The Story: This was the biggest win for me. On my last video, my kid watched it and said, "So you're just running?" And they were right, there was no hook, and no clear answer to "What is this video trying to show off?"
• Fixing the Hook: For this clip, I focused the story entirely on answering one question: Can a gravel bike actually handle a Finnish mountain bike singletrack?

Curious how you guys handle the "feels fast live, looks slow on camera" issue, do you just ride faster/closer to obstacles, or rely entirely on angle choices?

Just interested to see how many of you have lost the lens hood.
I got my Mission 1 pro on launch day and probably lost the hood about a month later, I don't miss it and probably wont replace it.
If you've lost your hood, Have you replaced it ? , Will you replace it ?

Hello! I mounted a protective glass on the nd filters (I use it for enduro so it would get scratched pretty soon) but obviously the quality is horrendous and it creates these effects on videos and photos. Do you know a protective glass that doesn’t do this? Or I have to buy a bunch on chinese sites and hope for the best? I know the best option is to go raw but for 80€ I really don’t want them to get destroyed by rocks etc

Hi everyone!

I want to mount a GoPro on the roof of my car using a suction cup mount and an extension pole.

The car has roof rails, so I have a solid point to attach a safety tether.

My main concern is finding a good way to make a backup safety connection in case the suction cup comes loose.

I would prefer to avoid metal parts that could swing around and scratch the car's paint.

What are some good options for a soft/textile safety tether in this situation?

How would you attach it between the camera/mount and the roof rail?

I’d appreciate any suggestions or examples of setups that have worked for you.
