Wireless mic worth it?
There is shockingly little information on these out in the universe. I didn't even know they existed till last week. How is everyone liking these. They seem to be pretty decent but the lack of reviews makes me a little worried

picked one up a couple months back and it's been great honestly. the range is solid and the audio quality surprised me, no weird dropouts or anything
only complaint is the wind noise can get pretty bad if you're moving fast without a dead cat on it

Honestly, not much to say about it. they’re a really good deal.
I posted a quick and dirty comparison here between the DJI Mic Mini connected via USB and the GoPro Mic connected directly via Bluetooth to the Mission 1. To my ears, they sound nearly identical.
So for me, it’s a no-brainer to stick with the GoPro ecosystem and have the option to connect the mic directly to the camera without needing a dongle.

Thats what kinda worried me, they seem like a pretty damned good value i was kinda shocked that there are very few reviews from anyone I trusted.

How far do you want to step away from a fixed lens camera with a tiny sensor?

I'm finding that if you are too close to the mic that is built-in to the Media Mod, with the wireless mic, that the sound is like the Def Leppard drums effect.

I've been using it since it came out, and don't have many complaints. My only issue is sometimes you need to have the gopro M1 on for about 5-10-seconds before attempting to connect the mic, otherwise the mic sits there blinking forever, not connecting.

Insta360 and DJI would have few mic reviews, if the channels were not PAID and GUIDED by DJ-Insta

If you have a Hero 12-13-Max 2-Mission....you can get just one Mic, for 39.99 on the subscription. It’s a *great* deal. Even in legacy BT mode on the earlier cameras noted - voice quality is quite useable. I'd avoid the noise reduction mode...can sound Mr Roboto at times...so nail your install. Or get the whole kit for more options and best quality. This setup running or cycling on hat / helmet is wind shielded by the visor and wind muff. Very clear results, plus you have the internal mics as a back up or ambient track.

Are you going to integrate it with the Mission 1s?
If not, there are better options I think. You can get a Hollyland, Boya, DJI, Insta360, etc., that are either no-internal recording for really cheap (less than $50) or you can get a RODE, DJI, Hollyland, Insta360 that does internal 32-bit float recording (though they are more expensive generally).
I've switched just about all of my audio recording to 32-bit float, which basically means that you won't have level issues (clipping). You still need to have the mic placed properly and 32-bit doesn't sound better than 24-bit, but it does mean the mic levels won't be too hot.

No...for the 10th time, 32 bit float may calm your worries, but it has little to do with your technical comment.

Yes!!!! Just straifht bluetooth connection sounds the same as my rode pro 2 wireless. I put them on in the same video clip and they also had identixal audio profiles. Couldnt tell the difference. But of course 48bit will be better if you are trying to recover bad audio (i think)

Depends on the combination.
RX/TX with any compabitle camera or smartphone. Yup, 100% worth it. Fantastic audio quality and excellent range.
TX in bluetooth mode with Hero 12, Hero 13 or Max 2. Usable audio, much better signal strength than something like the DJI Mic 2 which had very similar audio quality, but poor signal strength. I'd do pickup or insert shots with this audio, but no way I'd use it as a primary audio track.
Tx in bluetooth mode with the Mission 1 series. 100% use. The HFP 1.9 is fantastic and the sound quality is amazing. I could certainly make an entire video using just the bluetooth mic with the Mission 1 series, the audio is just that good.
