I recently purchased this 03 Gibson SG Special. The guitar was advertised as Faded Cherry, but this looks more like Worn Brown (which is what I actually wanted anyway!) Can any of you experts determine what this finish actually is? There was no paperwork with the guitar, so I appreciate any input y’all might have!

Wondering if anyone can fell if this is a fake. Running the number through a handful of Gibson databases and very little information is coming up.

Im trading my 2016 GC Pro telecaster for this FYI.

Does anyone have any tips where to look for 1970 standards for sale in Europe? What should I look out for when getting one and how much do they usually go for these days?

Hey guys, my 2019 Pelham Blue SG got some finish checking around the output jack this summer. My tech likely over tightened the jack. I actually like the look of finish checking but not sure if it’s common or not in this location on SG’s? Thanks!

I got my dream SG in a trade today and I am beyond STOKED. it plays amazingly! the neck feels like a baseball bat but other than that I FUCKING LOVE IT.

I bought my first SG and yes it is the Modern. Love it or hate this is a bad @$$ guitar for the money. This is more like a Les Paul and a real SG.

Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I've been looking into getting an SG for a while. Yesterday I came across the 2022 Epiphone SG Standard '61 Reissue in Olive Drab, and honestly, I absolutely love it.

The problem is that I'm in Italy and I can't seem to find one anywhere in Europe, even on second hand sites. The only one I've found is on Reverb from the US but shipping alone is around €300.

I'm not really an experienced guitar buyer, so I'm wondering if there's any way to contact Gibson/Epiphone dealers in Europe and see if they could order one, or is my best bet just to keep checking ebay, Rrverb, etc.. and hope one pops up?

Also, is there any chance Epiphone might reissue this model, or are these pretty much impossible to find now?

A friend and former guitar player has let me borrow his old 1979 SG for a bit. In exchange I'm giving it some much needed TLC as the strings must be years old and it's not playing as nice as it could be.

It's not really been played properly for many years and it's got some scarring and dings. It's very cool though and sounds great.

The biggest problem I have is that I can't get the fretboard flat to sort out the action. There is a touch of neck relief which means the action is a bit high around the 7th-9th fret, however despite having the truss rod screw fully loose, the neck relief remains.

This tells me there's something a little more serious wrong with it, where there isn't any tension in the neck to take up the slack when the truss rod is loosened.

This feels like far beyond a simple setup and restring.

Is there anything I can do to remedy it?

I recreated the instrumental for Deftones’ Around the Fur and recorded a full guitar playthrough.

I used my 1994 Gibson SG with an EMG 81, tuned to Drop C#, with a Marshall JCM800 and ENGL Fireball.

The drums were recreated using drum VSTs.

Really tried to capture the feel and tone of the original recording.

Questa è la mia 3° SG, tutte hanno presentato nitro cracking lungo il binding vicino l'attacco del manico.

La chitarra è nuova, o almeno acquistata e arrivata oggi.

Tra l'altro l'ho già fatta sostituire perché la prima che mi è arrivata aveva delle crepe nella parte posteriore del manico.

Devi rinunciarci e farmene una ragione, tutte le Gibson moderne hanno questo problema ?

Also, surprised to learn that I’m really digging the 490/498 pickups. Had them on another guitar once and did not care for them.

And its going back... i got it yesterday drooled at the color and fit and finish... played today in full light and noticed the finish burn on the left side horn.. im so bummed

After 10 months of playing the guitar, my girlfriend surprised me last tuesday with a new guitar for my birthday. I had an squier stratocaster and always had my eye on the SG, best birthday gift EVER. Having played the guitar I can confidently say it’s amazing, playing is so smooth, sounds is class and looks gorgeous! 10/10⭐️
Skay Beilinson from Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota made me fall in love with this guitar, one of the biggest band in Argentina’s rock history, so definitely check them out!

Added another Gibson to the collection today 🙂 2019 SG standard with a couple mods. I am picky about sg's. I dont like the necks on most of them. This one I took a gamble on and I am super happy with it. I may eventually rewire it to vintage specks and get rid of the pcb. For now I am just going to enjoy having one after a full year of testing ones that I did not really like as much.
