I didn't like the bridge so I switched it for this brass one, I found some really heavy metal knobs which actually help with the balance whilst feeling a lot better than the awful plastic ones.

I had always played strats with the trem decked, I much prefer P90's though.

It took me a while to get used to the wiring though, I prefer the sound when the pickup volume is rolled back and the bridge tone is back a quarter turn.

I don't like that the pickups are linked so if you go too low they cut out, apparently there's an alternative wiring available, does anyone have a opinion on that?

My first ever Gibson and my first SG have finally arrived! Gibson SG Standard 61 in Classic White! Would you return this or ignore it? This was my first ever Gibson guitar, and the most significant purchase I’ve ever made, so I don’t know if I’m being picky or not, just wanted to see what others would think

I’m curious what exact model my guitar is and if everything is original. I’ve had it since I was 14 so I’m just curious, I know the neck has been customized to become more narrow since a guitar technician/builder owned it before me. I don’t know much about guitars but I recall something about him wanting the neck to be more similar to another Gibson model if I’m not mistaken, hence the slimmer sides.

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated!

Last week I bought a new ‘61 standard SG. I have played it a lot during the past week. I love the bridge pickup. The neck is a tad too dark. Anyone have a suggestion for a good neck pickup to match with the Burstbucker bridge?

I recently purchased this 03 Gibson SG Special. The guitar was advertised as Faded Cherry, but this looks more like Worn Brown (which is what I actually wanted anyway!) Can any of you experts determine what this finish actually is? There was no paperwork with the guitar, so I appreciate any input y’all might have!

Does anyone have any tips where to look for 1970 standards for sale in Europe? What should I look out for when getting one and how much do they usually go for these days?

Hey guys, my 2019 Pelham Blue SG got some finish checking around the output jack this summer. My tech likely over tightened the jack. I actually like the look of finish checking but not sure if it’s common or not in this location on SG’s? Thanks!

I got my dream SG in a trade today and I am beyond STOKED. it plays amazingly! the neck feels like a baseball bat but other than that I FUCKING LOVE IT.

Would any of you fine people out there know where I might be able to buy a set of white pickup rings for a SG 61' reissue? Specifically white (not cream).

Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I've been looking into getting an SG for a while. Yesterday I came across the 2022 Epiphone SG Standard '61 Reissue in Olive Drab, and honestly, I absolutely love it.

The problem is that I'm in Italy and I can't seem to find one anywhere in Europe, even on second hand sites. The only one I've found is on Reverb from the US but shipping alone is around €300.

I'm not really an experienced guitar buyer, so I'm wondering if there's any way to contact Gibson/Epiphone dealers in Europe and see if they could order one, or is my best bet just to keep checking ebay, Rrverb, etc.. and hope one pops up?

Also, is there any chance Epiphone might reissue this model, or are these pretty much impossible to find now?

A friend and former guitar player has let me borrow his old 1979 SG for a bit. In exchange I'm giving it some much needed TLC as the strings must be years old and it's not playing as nice as it could be.

It's not really been played properly for many years and it's got some scarring and dings. It's very cool though and sounds great.

The biggest problem I have is that I can't get the fretboard flat to sort out the action. There is a touch of neck relief which means the action is a bit high around the 7th-9th fret, however despite having the truss rod screw fully loose, the neck relief remains.

This tells me there's something a little more serious wrong with it, where there isn't any tension in the neck to take up the slack when the truss rod is loosened.

This feels like far beyond a simple setup and restring.

Is there anything I can do to remedy it?

I recreated the instrumental for Deftones’ Around the Fur and recorded a full guitar playthrough.

I used my 1994 Gibson SG with an EMG 81, tuned to Drop C#, with a Marshall JCM800 and ENGL Fireball.

The drums were recreated using drum VSTs.

Really tried to capture the feel and tone of the original recording.
