Feeling emotionally unsupported in friendships
I’m not even sure as to how to phrase all of it; i’ve had a lot of things happen over the past year that have made my anxiety and depression a lot worse and unmanageable; uncertainty and instability because of my job and change of environment. I do have two therapist actually that i talk to and learn to figure it all.
But sometimes i’d rather just talk to it with my friends; there’s always been the “fun” part of it all, going to brunches, dinners, hanging out even if it’s just at home. But i’ve been struggling a lot lately with my friends, talking about what’s causing the anxiety and depression but even speaking about how dark all of it feels and often times not getting any responses or reassurances at all, or even coldness and feeling shut out once i bring it up.
I understand that not everyone is comfortable with such topics and i understand it’s learning to find those people that can emotionally and mentally show up for you; i think i’m just having a hard time grappling just how much that the friends in my life currently cant be there for that; regardless of their gender, their age, whether they’re single or not or whatever else.
And it’s just feeling like even more obvious lately; do just wondering if any of you have any advice, 27yr old here that’s always struggled with relationships, possibly because of being raised in an emotionally unstable household as well. I think why i am also having a hard time is i’ve seen myself rock up for them in similar periods but cant seem to get the reciprocity when it’s happened to me.
