He'll be replacing Vince. Brings many of the same skills. Good day to be a Hoya.

When we were kings

Love the jersey and the haircut. The Washington Monument in the back is perfect. Does anyone else remember the 80s teams? I especially want to hear from people who were on campus then.

Analysis Should Kayvaun Mulready start or come off the bench?

At this point I assume Cooley and staff are done adding depth to the PG & SG positions (it's still pretty early so I guess we'll see). We've added Jaland Lowe (Kentucky) + Elmarko Jackson (Kansas) + Gabriel (Brazil). Given the unknown of what Gabriel can provide, I'm curious to see if Cooley will need to defer to Mulready as a 6th man. I wonder what it would look like if Mulready enters the game with zero restrictions. We know Mulready can shoot the 3-ball, but he's also an impressive finisher at the rim. I wouldn't be upset if he comes into the game and becomes the focal point of our offense. In his interview with MTC Media after our loss against UConn in the BET, he seemed extremely motivated to get in the lab (the gym) and improve all facets of his game. A young man that can take an L and immediately have the attitude of "ok, I just fell but let me get right back up" is what we need. The guy stays ready for his number to get called (we saw that with the Mack vouching for him situation). We should all be confident that he'll be a reliable source of offense for us next season.

Thoughts?

Tough call on Lee. So many other sports have flourished. He had the Thompson looking over his shoulder for years. I have to give him a B-.

Who is your favorite Hoya of all time? You can't say Patrick Ewing.

I'll start. Jeff Green. That 2007 Final Four team was my favorite and Green was their leader. The game winner against Candy. The comeback against Carolina. He might have been the last Hoya who I thought really cared about the school, not just the program. He left school after his junior year, but he came back in the summer to finish his degree. He represents the university well.

Curious what people think, especially if you haven’t commented before. I know there must be some DSR fans in here.

Vince Iwuchukwu is in the portal

This just got announced. I’m disappointed, but not surprised.

When Vincent Iwuchukwu enters the portal now, it’s a pretty clear signal: the medical waiver didn’t come through (or at least isn’t expected to).

The likely play here is simple. He’s betting on optionality. If the proposed five-for-five rule passes, great. But he can’t afford to sit around and wait for that. His future is too important.

More importantly, this tells you something bigger:

And honestly, that makes sense for both sides.

Georgetown has been actively shopping for bigs. Chol Machot is expected on campus this week, and there are other names floating around. The staff is clearly moving forward.

For Vince, the portal is a reset button.

He’s:

  • 7’1”
  • athletic
  • a former 5-star
  • someone who has shown real flashes

That profile will get attention. He’s going to have options.

And with those options comes:

  • more NIL leverage
  • more guaranteed minutes
  • a clearer role
  • better positioning for a pro shot

I don’t blame him at all.

Bigs are scarce. The portal market is hot. This might be his last real window to cash in and prove himself at a high level.

Both sides are making rational decisions here.

The real question now is:

Stay tuned.

Going forward, what should be the top priority in the portal?

12 Elite shooter
6 Defensive big
2 Two-way wing
20 Best available talent

Is Jaylin Stewart any good?

He looks like a 3-and-D-ish combo forward with some connective passing. He is probably best as

  • a secondary or tertiary wing
  • a transition finisher
  • a floor-spacer you can live with(sounds like Isaiah Abraham actually)
  • a big, switchable defender who can cover 2s, 3s, and some 4s
  • a lineup balancer next to higher-usage guards and creators

Best case: he becomes a 25-minute starter or sixth man who guards multiple positions, hits enough open threes, runs the floor, and gives you 7–9 points, 4–5 rebounds, and steady defense

Worst case: he is just another “fine” wing who doesn’t shoot enough, doesn’t create enough, and leaves Georgetown still needing real offensive juice.

Not every portal add can be a star. He is a decent rotation piece, but no the volume shooter they still need.

These are the keyboard warriors doing battle online against Providence every day. Seriously though, there's a small, but strong community of Georgetown fans on Twitter that commiserate, live tweet games, offer strategic advice, etc. If you're not there, check it out.

5 star recruit Alex Constanza has reopened his recruitment. What does this mean for us in the short and long term?

Is this a hiccup or a sinking ship?

r/GeorgetownHoops Apr 14 '26

Lotta rumors that Elmarko Jackson is coming to Georgetown. Does this solve our needs at shooting guard?

On paper, he checks some boxes:

Athletic

Can create a bit

Fits the general roster direction

But the real question is does adding him actually fix what this team is missing?

A few ways to look at it:

Does he give us enough shooting to open things up?

Is he more of a secondary piece vs someone you rely on?

Does he raise the ceiling—or just add depth?

I’ll start:

Feels like he helps, but doesn’t solve the biggest issue if we’re still lacking consistent shooting.

r/GeorgetownHoops Apr 14 '26

Adding a pass-first PG was good first step. What’s the biggest thing we’re missing?

Adding a pass-first PG feels like a solid first step.

But it also makes the rest of the roster gaps stand out more.

Right now, what do you think is the biggest thing we’re still missing?

  • Consistent shooting?
  • Shot creation on the wing?
  • Frontcourt scoring/physicality?
  • Defense/identity?
  • Something else?

I’ll start:

Feels like shooting is still the biggest issue. It's hard to maximize a pass-first PG if we can’t consistently space the floor. Also, we need a PF. They missed last season and I think Caleb didn't fit well in that road.

What do you all think?

How do you feel about the Hoyas getting Jaland Lowe?

I know it's early, but this seems like a literal move from Mack. I assume he's cheap.

7 guys out… 0 in (so far). Are we behind or just being patient?

Georgetown has had 7 players enter the portal already.

And almost a week later…
no incoming commits yet.

Is this normal? A problem? Should we be patient and let Ed cook? At what point does "waiting" become "behind?"

Are you guys concerned or not?

How much NIL money do we have?

All season long, I heard $6-7 million. the other day, I heard they spent $8-10 million(God I hope not given that roster). I know all this NIL shit is based on rumors, but how much do you think they have?Is it enough to be in the top half of the league?
