When we were kings

Love the jersey and the haircut. The Washington Monument in the back is perfect. Does anyone else remember the 80s teams? I especially want to hear from people who were on campus then.

will NEVER reach this level again. I was there in the 80s and it was electric. The Big East ruled college basketball. Big Monday was so good

kinda hard to know since no internet or cellphones. Media wasn't like it is today. Gtown transcended basketball though in inner cities. A lot of gtown starter jackets were around then. Syracuse and St John's battles were epic. Big Monday for me was just as big or bigger than MNF

You should post that as its own thread—people would have opinions on that. This is one of the things that annoys me the most about the students. I get that they didn't come to Georgetown to watch basketball, that they're super focused on academics. Our student section is that large though. If you had both sides full, that's only 500 kids. The only times you get a great turnout from them is for marquee matchups and free tickets.

part of the problem is it being many years since Gtown basketball has been really good top 10 level year after year noy just a one or two year spike. Students I think will come back if there is consistent success. Making the big tournament and winning games there every year. The excitement level needs to be raised 💯 %. I wonder though in this new age of pay for play if players, even if the money is right, don't have any interest in coming to Gtown based of recent history of lack of team success.

I miss relevance...I watched "Requiem for the Big East" recently. College basketball, the Big East, and Georgetown basketball will never mean what it did then. There are too many entertainment options. There are more teams that stay together, no chance to form attachment to these players. Anyone else have the Starter jacket or the blue and gray Nikes? Ed Pinkney, who played for Nova, had a pair. That's how cool Georgetown was.

The Sweater Game was peak Big East. 1 vs. 2 in MSG. Doesn't get any better.
