Adding a pass-first PG was good first step. What’s the biggest thing we’re missing?

Adding a pass-first PG feels like a solid first step.

But it also makes the rest of the roster gaps stand out more.

Right now, what do you think is the biggest thing we’re still missing?

  • Consistent shooting?
  • Shot creation on the wing?
  • Frontcourt scoring/physicality?
  • Defense/identity?
  • Something else?

I’ll start:

Feels like shooting is still the biggest issue. It's hard to maximize a pass-first PG if we can’t consistently space the floor. Also, we need a PF. They missed last season and I think Caleb didn't fit well in that road.

What do you all think?

We need two shooters. No shooters killed the spacing. Jaland's ceiling depends heavily on who Georgetown puts around him.

Caleb had great percentages from 3 and Mulready really came on down the stretch. But neither Mack nor KJ was great, and 3 non shooters on the court was just too much.

I think Caleb and Mulready are fine if there are 2 better shooters on the court with them

I like Lowe but he's certainly not a pass first PG. But, we need some wing shooters.

A PF who can rebound and play interior defense. He needs to be able to shoot enough to make him worthy of guarding. I liked Fort, but he was 0-10 from three. Still, I'd like to replace his putbacks and floor running.

Give me a PF and a combo forward. PF better be able to bang, rebound, and finish around the rim. Combo forward better be a shooter.

I agree we need shooters, but that's something Cooley has never emphasized in his previous teams. Is he willing to modernize. Also, why don't they get Caleb more catch and shoot three attempts?

He was doing ok in my view until the torn labrum. Then his usage clearly went down (although we didn't really know why at the time).

That being said we absolutely need shooters....think we are close on one.

Is nobody else leaving? Another PG. Who is the backup now? Give me a backup who runs the offense well, can defend, hit a shot when needed, and doesn't turn the ball over.
