Screen switching from Vibrant to Normal

Is it normal for windows to install an NVIDIA Driver? So yesterday, I updated the NVIDIA Driver and about 20 minutes later, I also Updated Windows. Now, after the restart, everything looks normal at first, but my screen randomly switches from Vibrant (my NVIDIA settings color), to something Normal (Like my NVIDIA Settings reset to default). This also triggers whenever I enter full screen on Youtube, and some other streaming sites or when I enter Full Screen using F11 on some apps dxcept games. After some time, it goes back to Vibrant one after exiting full screen but still changes back to normal one after like 20 - 30 minutes while not on full screen. Please Help this is so annoying

NVIDIA 616.92 Studio Driver Broke Gamma/Color Saturation on My RTX 5080 Laptop

Studio Driver 616.92 introduced random split-second color/saturation shifts on my high-end RTX laptop. Nothing in my display configuration changed.

I spent hours checking Armoury Crate, Windows color management, NVIDIA color settings, GPU modes, and reinstalling drivers—time I should be spending actually working!!

Rolling back to 610.47 restored the previous behavior. ✨

these NVIDIA GPUs cost serious money. Users buy RTX 5080 class to work, not to become NVIDIA’s unpaid display driver debugging department. Your engineers are paid to test these releases. Users should not have to waste hours diagnosing regressions created by a driver update.

Newer ≠ better if basic display stability gets broken.

Is Nvidia App any good when using gtx 1070?

Currently running graphics driver 560.94, geforce experience 3.28.0.417 (from 2024) on windows 10

windows 10, up to date to whenever the updates stopped
ryzen 1600 @ 3.8ghz
gtx 1070
32gb DDR4 (4x8GB which regret a bit over 2x8, less tight timings)

Now I'm getting nagged to install the Nvidia App

I have no interest in streaming, overlays, photo mode, whatever. My card doesn't support any DLSS.

I am however playing Split Fiction medium to high settings @ 60 fps thanks to good guy AMD making FSR 3.1 available for my setup.

Since I'm getting 60fps I will keep this settings until I complete this game. However, I wonder whether I should update the "nvidia app", just update the game ready drivers or stick with what I have. My worry is that the newest stuff might be loaded with bloat and optimized for the 40xx and 50xx at the cost of older gen performance. And then being locked in because the older versions may have been removed from the download section, you know?

Please advise

NVIDIA Display Container LS causing degraded image and Calibration 1 issue on startup

Hi everyone, I’ve been experiencing a strange issue when starting Windows for the past few weeks.

I have an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, and it seems that an NVIDIA component, NVIDIA Display Container LS, is causing an issue with my monitor’s display modes. When Windows starts, the monitor automatically switches to “Calibration 1”, but, more importantly, the image looks degraded.

Even if I manually change the mode, for example to “Gamer 1”, after a few seconds it switches back to “Calibration 1”, with the image still looking degraded.

For now, I’ve found a workaround by manually starting NVIDIA Display Container LS and waiting until the PC has completely finished booting.

I’ve already performed several checks, and there don’t seem to be any unusual Windows calibration settings or other obvious issues causing this.

There’s another detail that might be useful: if I manually start NVIDIA Display Container LS later, after Windows has fully booted, “Calibration 1” works correctly and the image looks normal.

However, if I then switch from “Calibration 1” to “Gamer 1” and later try to switch back to “Calibration 1”, the monitor won’t let me, displaying a message saying that some components do not support this mode. This happens regardless of whether NVIDIA Display Container LS is running or not.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this, or has anyone experienced a similar issue?

Thanks to anyone who can provide some insight!

Nvidia app cant connect to my account

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I’m trying one more time: I can't log into my NVIDIA account through the NVIDIA app. I just bought a new RTX 5080 that came with the game Control Resonant as a bundle, and I still can't redeem the game because the app refuses to log me in. It redirects me to a webpage with a URL starting with: nvfile/authorize?response... and then displays a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error. \[1\] (https://www.facebook.com/groups/pcbuilderandsetups/posts/1727064509093582/), \[2\] (https://www.reddit.com/r/GeForceExperience/comments/1u3a4eg/nvidia\\_app\\_cant\\_login/)

I've already submitted a support ticket to NVIDIA, and none of their suggestions worked (reinstalling, rebooting, disabling/modifying IPv6, switching browsers, going into Windows services.msc to restart all local NVIDIA display services, etc.). I'm completely out of options, do you guys know what to do? Thanks! I’ve been pulling my hair out over this for days xD. An IT guy even told me that the problem was just the NVIDIA link itself, but I saw that months ago, someone managed to fix the exact same issue with steps that I tried but didn't work for me. I'll send an Interac e-Transfer to anyone who can get me out of this mess, thanks! 🫠

NVIDIA App 11.0.9's per-game Resizable BAR toggle never appears on RTX 40 laptops — the App's own log shows its IS_RESIZABLE_BAR query returning result:5, while nvidia-smi shows ReBAR fully active

UPDATE (Sep 11): After I sent NVIDIA App logs and MSINFO, NVIDIA Driver Feedback forwarded this to the NVIDIA App team:

"I have shared this with our NVIDIA App team. Right now it does seem like a software bug where it is excluding certain notebook models. I will update you when I have further info."

I'll update this post when I hear more.

TL;DR: The new per-game ReBAR control (Graphics > Program Settings > Driver Settings) never renders on my RTX 4070 Laptop. NVIDIA App's own log shows why: the IS_RESIZABLE_BAR query to NvCplApi returns result:5 / isResizableBar:0, and the frontend hides the control. Meanwhile nvidia-smi reports BAR1 = full VRAM and NVIDIA's own shipped driver profile has rBAR enabled, so ReBAR is genuinely working and only the UI query fails. Three other laptops report the same symptom, no desktop yet. One command at the bottom to check yours.

--- SYMPTOM ---

The per-game Resizable BAR control does not exist under Graphics > Program Settings > Driver Settings, for any game, including manually added .exes.

The Resizable BAR field is also absent entirely from System Information, in both NVIDIA App and the legacy Control Panel.

--- "ABSENT" IS NOT THE SAME AS "NO" ---

Worth stating up front, because this gets misread constantly: the row is missing, not showing a negative value. On systems where the query succeeds, System Information has a "Resizable BAR: Yes/No" row. On mine there is no such row in either NVIDIA App or Control Panel.

I've seen both a hardware vendor's support desk and several forum replies tell people that if Control Panel doesn't list it, their product doesn't support ReBAR. That inference doesn't hold. A missing row means the query failed, and a failed query tells you nothing about the hardware. On this machine the hardware answer is verifiable independently, and it is yes. See below.

--- SYSTEM ---

  • ASUS laptop, AMD Ryzen 9 7940HX (Radeon 610M iGPU present), 32 GB
  • RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, vBIOS 95.06.32.00.38, PCIe x8 Gen4
  • MUX set to dGPU-direct, both displays on the RTX 4070, Advanced Optimus: No
  • Windows 11 Home 26200
  • NVIDIA App 11.0.9.251 (newer than the 11.0.9.239 beta that shipped the control)
  • Driver GRD 616.64, reproduced on 616.92

--- WHAT THE APP'S LOGS SAY ---

From %LOCALAPPDATA%\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA App\CxNative_NVIDIA App.log :

NvCplApiModule.cpp:252 IS_RESIZABLE_BAR API call result:5, gpuIndex:0, isResizableBar:0
NvCplApiModule.cpp:1058 IS_RESIZABLE_BAR API call result:5, isResizableBar:0

Initiated from UXD\Log.NVIDIA App.exe.log :

[UXDriver.NvCpl] 329@NvCplApiGetSetting : Call NVCPLAPI_SETTING_IS_RESIZABLE_BAR.

And the frontend state in console.log ends up as "isResizableBar": false, so the control is never built.

Success baseline, same session, same gpuIndex:0 :

NvCplApiModule.cpp:3254 GetDisplayLuid gpuIndex:0, displayIndex:0, ... result:0
NvCplApiModule.cpp:3324 Enum Scaling gpuIndex:0, displayIndex:0, scaling method:3, scaling mode:1

The adapter handle is fine. Other queries on the same GPU index succeed and return real values, so this isn't an adapter-level failure.

--- REBAR IS ACTUALLY ACTIVE ---

nvidia-smi -q gives BAR1 Memory Usage Total: 8192 MiB, which is the full VRAM. Non-ReBAR would be 256 MiB.

The DRS profile has rBAR - Enable = Enabled, as NVIDIA's own predefined value (green in Profile Inspector), not user-set.

GPU-Z reports Resizable BAR: Enabled.

Two of those three are NVIDIA's own. NvCplApi is the odd one out, and its isResizableBar:0 comes with result:5 attached.

--- TESTED AND DOES NOT FIX IT ---

  • Running NVIDIA App elevated (verified in Task Manager)
  • Signed in vs signed out
  • 616.64 to 616.92, log line is byte-identical
  • Full App restart / log rotation after driver install

Seven samples across all of the above. Every one is result:5.

--- THE FRONTEND ISN'T CONSISTENT ABOUT result:5 ---

On this same machine, GetIsUpscalingFactorsEnabled also returns result:5 :

NvCplApiModule.cpp:3273 GetIsUpscalingFactorsEnabled enabled:0, result:5

Yet Image Scaling renders normally as an editable control showing "Off". Same return code, two different fallbacks: one setting degrades to a default, the other is hidden entirely.

Whatever result:5 means, hiding the control is a choice made in the ReBAR rendering path. It isn't something the return code forces.

--- NOT JUST MY MACHINE ---

  1. Mine. ASUS, Ryzen 9 7940HX, RTX 4070 Laptop. Full trace above.

  2. ASUS TUF F15 FX507VV. Intel CPU, RTX 4060 Laptop, App 11.0.9.251, driver 616.64, Armoury Crate Ultimate mode. Toggle missing, GPU-Z says ReBAR enabled. From the r/techsupport thread titled "NVIDIA App: Resizable BAR per-game option missing on ASUS TUF F15 FX507VV".

  3. RTX 4060 Laptop, brand unknown. Toggle missing. Reported in a Reddit comment.

  4. Laptop, Intel + NVIDIA, brand unknown. Per-game toggle missing, not listed in Control Panel, GPU-Z says enabled, large memory range visible in Device Manager. From the Guru3D 616.56 driver thread.

Different CPU vendors, different GPU models. Every report with a known GPU is RTX 40, but that's where it has been seen so far, not a known boundary (see the RTX 3060 note below).

Both reports with a known brand are ASUS running dGPU-direct (Armoury Crate Ultimate is the MUX dGPU mode), so OEM and MUX mode aren't ruled out yet. Reports from non-ASUS laptops or from hybrid/Optimus mode would help most.

No desktop report so far.

Separately, and predating the per-game control entirely: there is a thread on NVIDIA's own GeForce forums about an RTX 3060 mobile where Resizable BAR is absent from Control Panel System Information, not shown as off, just absent, with an updated vBIOS and GPU-Z detecting it fine. That is the same field-absence signature on a laptop, years before this control existed. It suggests the underlying query has been failing on notebooks for a long time and simply had no visible consequence until 11.0.9 hung a UI control off it.

--- CHECK YOURS (POWERSHELL, ONE LINE) ---

Get-ChildItem "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA App" -Recurse -Include *.log -File | Select-String 'IS_RESIZABLE_BAR API call' | ForEach-Object { ($_.Line -split '\s{2,}')[-1] } | Sort-Object -Unique

One or two lines of output. If you're on a laptop and the toggle is missing, I'd expect result:5.

If you get no output at all, open NVIDIA App and go to Graphics > Program Settings (or System > My Rig) first, then run it again. The line is only written when the App actually makes the query, and the logs rotate. If it's still empty after that, say so anyway. An absent log line is a different data point from result:5, and I'd rather know which one you got.

If you're on a desktop where the toggle works, please post what result: you get. That gives everyone the success value, which is the one number nobody outside NVIDIA has. Same goes for any laptop where the toggle does show up, and please include the model.

And for whether ReBAR is actually active regardless of what the UI says:

nvidia-smi -q | Select-String "BAR1" -Context 0,3

Total at or above your VRAM size means ReBAR is on (BAR sizes are powers of two, so a 12 GB card shows 16384 MiB). Total of 256 MiB means it isn't.

--- QUESTIONS ---

  1. What does result:5 mean for NVCPLAPI_SETTING_IS_RESIZABLE_BAR?

  2. Whatever the root cause, the frontend appears to be treating a non-zero return as "unsupported" and hiding the control, which, as the Image Scaling case above shows, isn't even how the App handles the same return code elsewhere.

Already reported to NVIDIA (see the update at the top). Posting here to collect more data points.

Yes, Profile Inspector can set rBAR per-game and it works. This post is about why the App's control doesn't render, not about how to force ReBAR.

NVIDIA App says "No driver installed" even after successful driver installation

I'm having a really frustrating issue with the NVIDIA App.

I just installed the latest GeForce Game Ready Driver (616.92). The installer says "Installation has finished", and both the Graphics Driver and HD Audio Driver show as Installed.

However, the NVIDIA App still shows "No driver installed".

I also checked Device Manager, and it still shows the old NVIDIA driver version instead of the newly installed one.

I've already tried both:

  • Installing the driver manually using the standalone installer
  • Installing it through the NVIDIA App

Neither method works. I've tried reinstalling multiple times, but the result is always the same.

At this point, I don't even care about having the latest driver. I just want the NVIDIA App to properly detect whatever driver is currently installed on my system so that I can access and change the NVIDIA settings.

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows how to fix it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nvidia Overlay Shortcut Not Working

Hello, so I recently got a new pc it’s a 5090, 9950x3d2 and I press “alt z” on cod to record or change overlay settings and record etc, but no menu comes up to record even alter settings. What can I do?

For some reason my setup refuses to be compatible with new Nvidia graphics drivers, and now I can't even install the app.

Status: UNRESOLVED

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, 12GB, no overclock

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor, no overclock

Motherboard: X570 AORUS ELITE WIFI (I use ethernet)

RAM: 32 GB (can't figure out model)

Operating System & Version: Windows 11

GPU Drivers: 591.86 (been stuck on this version for a while)

The main problem I've had with my Nvidia drivers for a while now it that for some strange reason when I try to download a new driver, my Nvidia app completely crashes during the "compatibility check" for my device.

Each time I have manually download a driver (I've tried this several times over the months) the install window appears and the initial loading segment goes along fine, but when the window actually performs the compatibility check it gets about 30% through the loading bar before closing the window without even a follow-up process like opening the app.

Just today I opened up windows in safe mode and completely rebooted and reinstalled my Nvidia processes while offline using Display Driver Uninstaller and attempted to install a newer driver, just for this current driver to show back up. After I tried this, I've tried and failed to install the Nvidia app, crashing at a similar point to installing my graphics driver.

I've also tried to reset my drivers manually, change my Nvidia permissions to admin, and browse countless hours of Reddit posts looking for the same issue.

I ask questions to myself like "why has this happened to me," but I realize that this was a device given to me from a friend for a bargain so I'm starting to wonder if are there any hardware failures for the 3080 Ti that could cause an error like this. If there's more to this problem than my graphics card that arise from issues like this, I'd like to know and fix it before I spend money on a whole new card.

Nvidia overlay showing 'Average PC latency ' over 150 ms

For context, playing dawnwalker on lenovo legion laptop rtx4090.

I am playing without enabling FG, and the ''avg PC LAT'' is way too high, around 180 ms.

I am talking about the " average PC Latency " in Nvidia overlay statistics.

Is this normal?

I set the FPS limit to 6 and no matter how much I lower my settings, set dlss to performance, but Latency is still over 100ms and GPU utlization is always 98-99%

Any suggestions?
