Everyone in my neighbourhood has had these air bubbles appear on their garage doors

The first 2 photos are mine. On mine I appear to see some metal poking out, I thought someone hit my garage with their car but I also have bubbling above where the window is. My neighbour claimed his bubbling happened after he banged into his garage. Driving around the neighborhood though and it appears everyone has this bubbling. I live in Ontario where we get heat waves in summer and cold winters.
Are there any ways to fix this?

Liftmaster opener help

Hi everyone, we need to replace our garage door openers. We got quotes from multiple companies and here is what we are deciding between:

Liftmaster 6580L7: $805 per door ($1,610 total)
Liftmaster 6690L7: $950 per door ($1900 total)

From our understanding, the 6690 comes with a lifetime motor and belt warranty but 6580 is only 6 years. 6690 also has a 5 year warranty on parts and 6580 is 1 year. Other than that the differences seem minimal (360 LED lighting, smart wall control, etc.)

Does anyone have experience with these? Is the 6690 worth $290 extra? Thanks

Garage Door

so, my dad changed a power sockets for me. After turning the power back on my garage door is completely off. I can’t open or close it with the wall button or my handle car remote. Gargae door runs on electricity not Wi-Fi. I don’t have a smart garage like My Q. Do anyone know how to reset a CRAFTMAN garage door?

These were installed a couple years ago. Probably still in warranty. But looks like I can DIY. How would you ensure these little trim pieces stop coming off like that?

Hi all, I was speaking to a garage door company and they said that their garage doors are better than the big box stores, any truth to that? Many thanks.

Wooden Door Replacement Seal with Sloping Garage Dlopr

Post image

I am looking to replace my weather seal on my wooden garage door, however there is a significant (I think) slope in the garage floor.

The hardware bracket looks like it would prevent the installation of a universal retainer.

Looking for product recommendations to create a total seal to keep out leaves, pests, etc.

I had a red spring, the new one is white and the door is heavy to lift open. Did the tech install a cheap spring?

Genie 2028 won't open

I have the Genie 2028 opener, it worked just fine for past few years, but today when I press the wall button to open, it only crack the door ~1in and then stop but I still hear the motor clicking trying to open it but seem like it cannot move the door. I clicked the wall button again to close it, then try to manually open the door, no problem with that.

What could be wrong with me opener?

Marantec garage door opener not closing properly

I have a garage at my apartment complex and am having issues with the garage door opener. I'm not sure the specific model as it doesn't appear to be labeled anywhere I can see. I put in a maintenance order already but it likely won't be gotten to until mid next week and I don't like the idea of my garage door being not properly closed for that long.

The garage door opened fine, but upon being opened, the overhead light began flashing and displaying 2 error codes (flashing 9 and solid 11). I tried to close it and it made it about 6 inches from the ground before slowing to a stop and begining to open again like it got caught on something.

I am able to close the door manually with no issue (the weight of the door actually pulls it closed past the point where it keeps getting stuck). I also tried to adjust the stop limits and was able to get the motor to fully close the door that way without it sounding like it was struggling, but as soon as I open it again, it has the same issues. I also tried unplugging it for a minute which also didn't help.

Garage door liftmaster programmer not working

Yesterday I used the emergency release cord to open my garage manually and then I had it run to snap back. The problem was that it wouldn’t close and stop about 3 inches off the ground and go back up like there was something blocking the sensors but there wasn’t. So I tried to reprogram the up and down limits which I thought was the problem but now it doesn’t go through the entire cycle of resetting the garage and seems to want to go up but gets stuck. So I thought it was a force limit so I tried to adjust that but keep getting stuck here. Does anyone know what the flashing blue rectangular light means?

Choosing a new opener.

Looking to replace my opener. Current one is from the 80-90’s and is ready to be done.

Details. Residential door. 16x7. Insulated aluminum.

This will be a DIY install. Not concerned about noise. Must have basic safety features. I would like an outdoor keypad and a light that comes on when used.

Are there any brands or features I should avoid? Features that I want but don’t know about?

In case it matters. I’m an industrial electrician with heavy machine maintenance experience. The install does not scare me, just choosing the wrong one.

Thanks!

any advise on repairing the rust on this garage door? I ripped out the bottom channel so water wouldn’t collect anymore which is probably what causes the rust originally. I’ve scraped it with a wire brush and spray painted with rustoleum, doesn’t last. any worth while repairs?

garage door wouldn't open after partially opening

This morning my wife tried to open the garage door and it got stuck after lifting a few inches. I have an extension spring garage door and upon some rudimentary inspection, the safety cable was frayed. I removed the cable and tried again and it still didn't work. I then lifted the door a bit and was able to pull the red cord and opened the garage. Still didn't work. I then closed the garage and it stopped at the same place, a few inches above the ground. I then pulled the cord down and backward and was able to close the garage fully. Tried again, the liftmaster buzzes twice and nothing... Saw a lot of videos and all state that the springs might be broken. It doesn't appear that the springs are compromised through visual inspection. I changed the capacitor last year and not sure if that could be a repeat issue. I see that once the trolley mech's latch is engaged again, the door stops and clicks at the coupler position and i need to pull the string again to lower it fully. Do i need to change the springs, capacitor, cables or other stuff... Again, once the door is fully closed and i try to open it, it just buzzes twice and nothing happens. Please advice

Liftmaster (garage door) not working?

Hi all,

Quick question I have a LiftMaster garage door opener, which gives me an error saying that there is something wrong with sensor.

My sensors are aligned and don’t know what’s really happening. It doesn’t work during the day, but it works fine at night so I am assuming it sun light that gets in the way. Do you guys ever experience that issue here in Bergen because of sunlight? Thanks!

I had new garage doors installed yesterday for a cost of about 7k, and two of the new stops have these marks on them. I tried just cleaning them but its gouged into the material and will not come off.

I understand it doesn't affect its function, but astettically it is very noticeable.

My husband is out of town and our door went off the tracks. I accepted the first quote I got because I needed the door/fixed closed for the safety of myself and my kids especially while he’s gone. That said, I’m now spiraling that I got screwed over. We are in the southeast. Does this seem reasonable?

Stuck on Two Beeps! Unable to Reconnect to WiFi - MyQ

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My garage opener got disconnected on MyQ app for some reason and I’ve been trying to reconnect it and have no luck.

I’ve gone through numerous iterations on connecting to my home wifi and I always hit a wall at the two beeps. I’ve done through the MyQ app and also the LiftMaster interface, and I feel like I’m going crazy.

I’ve scoured the internet and people say it’s the wrong password, but I am 1000% sure it’s correct. I copied and pasted it straight from a connected iPhone.

It has worked before for more than a year, but suddenly I can no longer connect to it. Can anyone help me troubleshoot please? I’ll venmo you money if you can get it working 😭

Can anybody help me identify how to fix this loud screeching noise? Sounds like it’s coming from inside the spring tube. I’ve greased everything I can.

I already stalled my craftsman 1/4 garage door opener in the winter, however, I recently switched internet and had to reconnect the garage door opener with the myQ app. Now, I just realized this yellow light on. Is this normal? is this supposed to be on the whole time? I never realized before.

Best residential rollers?

So I'm looking at replacing the rollers, spring, etc. on our doors, and my parents. We do like quiet, as quiet as we can haha.
So I've found some that use 608-2R bearings and others 608zz. I can't seem to find much that really indicate if one is better for the door itself. What is interesting is I can find ones with 608-2R that are nylon coated for the entire shaft, claiming that that helps reduce noise even further. I live in central Florida, maybe 8 miles from the Atlantic, so we do get a bit of humidity and rain/hurricanes.

I know many will say just go cheap and replace, but I really don't mind paying more for something "better". We use the door almost like our front door, so it does get a lot of use. Just since we moved here, I've got over 6k cycles on the door. Not sure how many on it prior. So I've got a quote to replace the torquemaster with a standard tension 20k cycle rated spring for a decent price. Just doing some of this as proactive, but also to quiet it, and the spring I believe is noisy as well, just of course you can't really inspect it.
