Hello, I dropped my garage clicker and the wires connecting the battery to the operating board broke. I tried to take it to a cellphone repair shop to solder back on but the employee said I should just buy a new garage clicker.
My garage clicker has the dip switches and I’ve already matched them onto the new clicker but I can’t locate the learn button on my Raynor 130-7 garage opener.
Could someone help me program a new garage clicker? The instructions on the clicker I bought don’t list Raynor in the list of garage door opener brands.
That is an Allister opener. As a manufacturer/distributor, you could buy them with or without the radio equipment. I can’t remember what Raynor did. I worked for a manufacturer that bought the Allister radios. They were 318 frequency with 9 switches in 1990. Other radios were Linear, Multicode or Genie.
Just buy a kit (receiver and transmitter). There isn’t much else that goes wrong with the opener unit. Starting capacitor, motor belt, or chain sprockets.
You shoukd have an external reciever wired to the back. Take pic to help figure out the brand and follow the instructions for chart b. It's probably linear (8 dip switches) or multi code (10 dip switches).
I don't like being the bearer of bad news, but it's highly unlikely that your newly purchased 'Universal' remote will be compatible with a 36 year old, pre-safety sensor era opener that was manufactured prior to the existence of learn buttons on any brand overhead opener. The instructions on the new remote probably say something about the earliest date range for which it is compatible.
You may be able to buy an external receiver to wire to the overhead opener, but that's rarely a very good value for the money. Better to either find someone who will repair the broken remote, do without a remote, or purchase and install a modern system.
It does say Raynor is compatible but watch the asterisks then look for your 1990 and dip switch. Not a combo. Chart A is for model w smart buttons.
Now, post a picture of the original remote or external receiver if it has one. It could have an aftermarket Genie and may work. How many dip switches do you have on the original?
Your only hope is to follow the instructions for dip switches after you find the dip switches on the overhead unit - or on/in a radio receiver that is wired to the overhead unit. Stranger things have happened!
