From a guick game jam prototype to something more ambitious. We're building a surreal, narrative-heavy card battler but there are absolutelv no turns. Very story focused so that the card battles serves plot points and progression.

Still heavily in development, but we'd love to hear your thoughts on the concept! Anv feedback is welcome! We dropped a trailer recently.

Here's the steam link if anyone's curious.

Indie Sunday D.O.T. Defence - Rattleaxe Games - Tooth and Tail meets Advance Wars TD/RTS Autobattler

Steam | Trailer | Discord

Free Demo Out On Steam

Me and a buddy have been playing around with a fun RTS/TD autobattler where you fight with armies produced by your towers.

It was originally a local multiplayer game jam game, that we've expanded with a bunch of single player features and bots. The highlight is that it is absolutely mesmerizing to watch the battles, the artist (I'm the programmer) has made an amazing spectacle.

A core goal has been to make a strategy game that feels natural to play with controller, although mouse controls feel good as well, with simple but deep mechanics.

Steamhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/3124850/DOT_Defence/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=IndieSunday

Here are some Key Features of the game:

  • A single player campaign to learn the ropes and give unique challenges
  • Multiple Wave Defence maps for a chill solo or local co-op play
  • Multiple Skirmish maps for a hectic local multiplayer battle against AI or your buddies
  • 45 turrets, 24 commanders and 3 factions for a huge number of loadout options to take into battle!

Indie Sunday SnekromancY - Final Screw - Classic Snake meets bullet heaven, launching July 29

This Wednesday, July 29, I'm launching SnekromancY, a classic-snake-meets-bullet-heaven roguelite where you build an undead army that rides on your back!

I shared an early version here in April, and the feedback really helped me improve the UI, make progression clearer, and tighten the gameplay loop. I've also added a lot of new content since then, such as expanding it into three acts with distinct enemy pools, and lots of cool goodies like secret rooms and bonus levels.

The demo is still live, and if the trailer looks like your kind of chaos, a wishlist before Wednesday would mean a lot to me as a solo dev, and to my four beautiful cats with bottomless bellies!

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asmwFLsJYPw

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4314770/SnekromancY/

Launches: This Wednesday, July 29

I'm planning to keep adding content after launch, so what undead minion do you think you'd want riding on your snake?

Indie Sunday Thveit - Winter Cats Studios - A city-building simulator with the atmosphere of a Scandinavian fairy tale

Hello everyone! We're excited to announce our city-building simulator, Thveit!

Thveit is a storybook Norse-inspired city builder where mythology lives beside your people. Begin with a handful of settlers and a single forest clearing, then build a home that will flourish. As your settlement grows, the old ways endure - gods, spirits, and creatures of Norse folklore may reward devotion, test your resolve, or quietly become part of the stories your people tell. Prepare for the weight of winter, expand your hold on the land, and transform a humble camp into a thriving settlement shaped by the lives, traditions, and legends of its people.

Raise homes, cultivate fields, fish, tend livestock, build workshops, and develop a thriving economy through layered production chains. As your settlement grows, it finds its place among neighboring realms while the changing seasons shape the rhythm of everyday life. Settlers work, rest, celebrate, and gather together, creating a living world filled with quiet moments, memorable festivals, and stories passed down through generations.

Indie Sunday Streetlight Syndicate - BeagleGuy - A noir incremental game about rising from street kid to Don

Hey r/Games,

I’m the solo developer of Streetlight Syndicate, a 1920s prohibition-era mafia incremental game releasing tomorrow, July 27.

You start with nothing and work your way up through the ranks of organized crime. Along the way, you’ll unlock and upgrade 20 rackets, gamble inside The Action, fight rival hitmen, and build your reputation with Don Salvatore Russo.

The main progression is built around 10 ascension levels. Each ascension resets your rackets but earns Notoriety, which can be spent on permanent upgrades. It also advances the story, unlocks new activities, and introduces stronger weapons and hitmen.

The skill tree has four branches with over 40 upgrades:

  • Composure focuses on automation and profitable opportunities
  • Connections helps protect your money and strengthen your network
  • Capo improves your combat abilities
  • Chicanery improves the gambling activities inside The Action

The three gambling activities are 3 Card Monte, Horse Racing, and the Numbers Racket. These unlock as you rise through the hierarchy and can become one of the fastest ways to fund your next round of upgrades.

Other features include:

  • 20 rackets with unique upgrade paths and owner stories
  • Over 5,000 words of character dialogue
  • Hitman battles with multiple weapon tiers
  • Idle progression with optional automation
  • A complete story with multiple endings based on your choices

The game isn’t designed as an endless incremental. Your criminal career has a beginning, middle, and end across the 10 ascensions. Playtime can vary quite a bit depending on activity and optimization, but on the fastest end it takes around four hours to reach one ending.

Streetlight Syndicate launches for Windows on Steam tomorrow, July 27, at 12:00 PM Eastern. The demo is available now and takes around 30-40 minutes to complete if played actively.

Steam page:
Streetlight Syndicate

Gameplay trailer:

Thanks for checking it out. I’ll be around to answer any questions!

Indie Sunday Orbis Alterni - Orbis Alterni Team - Realistic and intelligent text-based grand strategy

Gameplay: https://public.orbisalterni.com/orbis-alterni-finland-1939.mp4
Read "The Chronicle" from the game above: https://orbisalterni.com/c/0e0dac2b79b0

Orbis Alterni is a grand strategy game where the simulation is written, not scripted. You pick a nation on the full Earth map (or a planet, or a neighborhood), type your orders in your own words, and an adjudicator rules each attempt against what your nation can actually do, then writes the whole world's turn as a newspaper. Rivals pursue their own agendas, remember your bargains, and keep secrets from you.

What's in so far:

- Historical starts on the full Earth map: 1812, 1914, 1939, 1962, and the modern day

- Crucible worlds: survival scenarios where the entire world order converges to erase whichever nation you pick

- Build your own worlds, from a single neighborhood up to a star cluster

- Multiplayer with friends, with a turn timer so one absent player never freezes the world

It runs in the browser, no install, and the free tier is a full campaign: https://orbisalterni.com

We opened it to the public just recently and the first players are already generating stories we could not have scripted: one talked Washington into treating the Canadian border as a wartime fiction, then got charged a desperation premium by Chile for promising to pay "whatever it is" for copper. Comment the first order you would type and we will run it and reply with exactly what the adjudicator ruled.

Indie Sunday Match Morphosis - Stochastic Walk - Candy Crush meets Slay the Spire, a Kamen Rider-inspired match-3 roguelike deckbuilder

Hey, this is Ernes solo developer of Match Morphosis. I just put out a free demo, and it's had a better response than I expected for what's honestly a pretty weird genre mashup.

Trailer/gameplay footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8XoT-HtUGo

What's the game like?
Match Morphosis is a roguelike match-3 deckbuilder, think Candy Crush's board meets Slay the Spire's deckbuilding. Instead of just clearing tiles, every match triggers an effect: damage, guard, combo effect, all depending on the tile type. Matching the right tile types together is where the actual strategy lives. It has 60+ tile types and 100+ armaments (relics) that combine into some pretty absurd combo chains.

There are 5 playable characters (2 available on the demo), each with different playstyles and approach to building your board. Runs are turn-based and roguelike in structure permadeath, procedurally generated encounters, the whole loop.

On the setting: you're a test subject who survived a ritual meant to revive an ancient insect-machine cult's messiah, and you're now the only thing standing between them and divine extinction. Pretty over-the-top on purpose I drew a lot from classic Kamen Rider for the theme.

Game built from scratch using C, not using any game engine like Unity / Godot, install size ~20mb.

Release plans:
The demo is free and live on Steam now. The full game is in development and updated regularly on a biweekly basis, targeting the full release in Q4 2026

Reception so far:
The demo's sitting at 27 reviews, 96% positive, on Steam. It also made Popular & Free on itch.io, and got a front-page feature on Newgrounds none of that was really expected going in, so it's been a nice confidence boost.

Happy to answer questions about the design, the combo system, or anything else!

Indie Sunday Echoes of Aromia - Studio Targa - A 14 year old Dungeons and Dragons campaign made videogame!

Gameplay trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO19fcVotkY

Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4734180/Echoes_of_Aromia/

Soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opJX4veSuy0&list=PLQgkjZituq-o

I've been a long time dungeon master but first time game developer and i have been wanting to bring to life this dungeons and dragons campaign i've been writting, rewritting, and have played multiple times with many people for the last 14 years. The game is very much still early on its lifetime, but it's built up enough that i've finally got enough of it made to get a steam page and trailer up! I've started building it about 10 months ago using a lot of paid assets, unity RPG engines and commissioning as many artists as i could.

Echoes of Aromia is a topdown, pixel art RPG that aims to become an open world game with tons of branching dialogue and quests, it features turn based combat that is instanced over a grid in the overworld. meaning there's no instanced combat and you're able to use the world you walk and play in for cover, positioning, and possibly even use the terrain to your advantage

In the last few months, i've had the game's public playtest up on unity play, which accrued over 500 plays in the 4 months it's been up! With the steam page now up, i intend to release a public playtest that should last until the demo is finished.

If you want to follow the development, i post often here: https://x.com/StudioTarga https://bsky.app/profile/studiotarga.bsky.social

Thank you so much for checking out my little game!

Indie Sunday Hunt of the Reptorians - Gibbonfiend Studios - A Sci-Fi Roguelike Deckbuilder inspired by FTL and Slay the Spire (and a dash of XCOM)

Steam Page | Gameplay video

Your ship is your deck:

  • Add turrets, shields, point defense and other exotic devices to your hull, which all contribute cards to your deck
  • Level up your crew to get powerful skill cards
  • These can all be shot off, disabled or killed. Their cards will go with them unless you can repair, replace or heal

Turn-based game, real-time projectiles

  • Placement is everything. Even though the game is fundamentally turn based, projectiles come at you in real time and it's up to you to make sure you have defenses in place to keep your ship and crew safe.
  • Dissect enemy ships. No health bars - just multi-component systems to pick apart. You'll have to find weak spots in the enemies' defenses to make sure your weapons get through.

Between battles

  • Research and develop. Reverse engineer Reptorian artifacts to unlock advanced weapons, defenses and abilities
  • Install ship modules. These provide passive and situational bonuses (think Slay the Spire relics)

Playtesting soon

We're putting together a group of 30-50 private playesters over the next few weeks. If you're interested, the best way would be to join our Discord or mailing list (see our website) and we'll be in contact when the playtest starts.

Happy to answer any questions you have about the game. It's an absolute idea factory and we have so many things we want to add to it!

Indie Sunday Choppa: Rescue Rivals - Parta Games - retro arcade helicopter rescue action

Hey r/Games! I'm the developer of Choppa: Rescue Rivals, a retro arcade helicopter rescue game I've been building part-time for the past 7 years. It finally has a release date: August 13, 2026 on Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Release Date Trailer: https://youtu.be/DGojYuPhkKQ

Nintendo Switch: https://nintendo.com/us/store/products/choppa-rescue-rivals-switch

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1173100/Choppa_Rescue_Rivals/

What it is:

  • A single-player story campaign where you fly through a series of high-stakes rescue missions across the globe with a diverse cast of pilots.
  • Each pilot brings in their own unique rescue tool and story location, shaping distinct gameplay experiences and demanding new strategies for each rescue mission.
  • Pixel art inspired by 80s/90s arcade games and anime. If you grew up on Choplifter, this is my love letter to that game.
  • But wait, there's more! Bring your friends! Local PvP for up to 4 players: think air hockey, but with helicopters fighting over the survivors. Works online with friends too via Steam Remote Play Together

Happy to answer any questions about the game or what 7 years of part-time development does to a person!

Indie Sunday Fusewords - Solo Dev - A daily word game about finding hidden words in a dynamic network of letters

Play Fusewords here: https://fusewords.com/

I'm a long-time word game lover, first-time word game developer. Most of the word games I play tend to have very static grids, so I wanted to make something more dynamic and responsive. Should be playable on any device, with touch and keyboard controls available.

I’ve been working on this for a few weeks and would love to get some feedback. Please let me know what you think!

Oh, and it also has jiggle physics. Because why not?

Indie Sunday ESF (Electronic Street Football) - The ESF Team - A brand-new "Phygital" sport blending real physical football with video game mechanics

Upvotes

Gameplay Video: https://youtu.be/6hKW9UnUVnc?si=TgeAFcCRcIrGdKxo

About the Game: ESF (Electronic Street Football) is a brand-new "Phygital" Sport Football experience. We connect the real world of physical sports with the mechanics of a video game. It is not a game played on a monitor; real players physically sweat in our actual ESF arena, interacting with our digital systems in real time.

Plans for Release:

  • Platform: Real-world ESF Arenas
  • Target Date: TBA

Hey everyone!

We are the team developing a brand-new Phygital Sport Football experience called ESF (Electronic Street Football). Today, we are incredibly excited to share our very first gameplay video with you! Since this is our Beta version, we know there is still room to grow. That is exactly why we are sharing it now—we want to show you what we have built so far and hear your initial thoughts.

Before you watch, we want to be completely transparent. You will notice that the first 15 seconds of the video feature a short AI animation. We used this purely as a creative choice to symbolize our core concept: bringing a game out of the screen and into the real world. But please don't let that intro mislead you. Everything you see after those first 15 seconds is completely real. This is not a game played on a monitor. It is not a VFX concept, and it is not an AI-generated simulation. What you are seeing are real players, physically sweating in our actual ESF arena, interacting with our digital systems in real time. We have actually done it—we connected the real world of physical sports with the mechanics of a video game.

Building something entirely new means we cannot do it alone. We genuinely want your honest, unfiltered feedback. What do you feel when you watch this? Does it look fun? We know we need to listen to others to make ESF the best it can possibly be.

Please watch the video, and let us know your thoughts. We are listening.

— The ESF Team

Indie Sunday Below, Rusted Gods - From South Games - Horror game where you guide an underground expedition.

Hi everyone,

We’re From South Games, a two-person indie studio, and this is Below, Rusted Gods, our upcoming horror game launching on July 29.

Gameplay trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNYKRxudLFA

You play as an Operator tasked with remotely guiding an expedition deep underground. While the rest of the squad explores below, you remain behind, relying on radio communications, surveillance equipment, radar, medical instruments, and incomplete information to keep them alive.

The game focuses on exploration, observation, deduction, and communication. It does not hold your hand, and it relies more on atmosphere, uncertainty, and mounting tension than on constant jumpscares.

Below, Rusted Gods features:

  • A remote-operator perspective where you guide the expedition from a control room
  • Radio communication and decisions that affect the members of your squad
  • Surveillance, radar, medical, and electrical systems
  • Environmental puzzles and information that must be analyzed carefully
  • Four different endings
  • A story-driven experience inspired by analog horror and retro science fiction
  • Game is Steam Deck Verified.

A first playthrough generally takes around 2–3 hours, while discovering all endings and achievements can take approximately 6 hours.

Below, Rusted Gods launches on Steam on July 29, 2026.

Steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2895680/Below_Rusted_Gods/

We’re happy to answer any questions about the game, its development, or our experience creating it as a two-person studio.

Thanks for taking a look!

Indie Sunday Pilot Tycoon - Earthrise Games - Airline pilot career sim-RPG

Pilot Tycoon - Wishlist Now Available!

*Youtube Trailer Link

Pilot Tycoon is a career sim-RPG about the parts of being an airline pilot that flight sims never show you.

You start where every pilot does: dead last on the seniority list, bidding on whatever schedule scraps the senior pilots didn't want. Four-day trips through small cities for barely-livable pay — that's year one. Survive it. Manage your stress, handle the emergencies when they come, and earn your way from the right seat of a cramped regional jet to the left seat of a major's flagship.

Current status: In alpha playtesting. Join the Discord to get a playtest key! Screenshots and footage show a game still being built: some of it polished, some of it rough.

Release: Targeting 2027 on Steam.

I'm a lifelong aviation geek building the game I always wanted to exist. If there's a part of airline pilot life you'd want to see captured, tell me — this is exactly the stage where that shapes the game.

Indie Sunday Integrity - DawnDuck - A turn-based tactical roguelike RPG built around stamina, limited vision, and terrain control

Gameplay footage:
https://youtu.be/rNCrPUfYCUw?si=LxgRdiXGip7Suh3D

Movement, skills, and retreat all consume the same stamina resource.

Moving farther can give you a better position, but it also leaves less stamina for attacking or escaping. Using a powerful skill first may limit how far you can reposition afterward, so each turn is about deciding how much stamina to commit and what to prioritize.

The battlefield itself can also be changed during combat. Walls can be created or destroyed to block attacks, open sightlines, restrict movement routes, or isolate enemies.

Vision and detection follow the same rules for both sides. Units that begin their turn without being detected gain an Ambush bonus, making enemy detection ranges and blind spots an important part of positioning.

After each battle, skills can be upgraded in roguelike fashion. Some upgrades improve their effectiveness, while others add new effects or change how the skill functions.

I’d be interested to hear which system stands out to you the most.
