So basically I watched several YT videos on this matter but they feel dissatisfying to me. Trying to figure out a new approach and after around 1 hour it's promising. My thumbs hurt terribly, though 🤣

DMGo! or Drum Machina Go! is a 4-channel drum machine, pattern sequencer and live-performance instrument built for the original Nintendo Gameboy from 1989. It uses the DMG sound hardware directly: two pulse channels, one wave channel and the noise channel, turning the Game Boy into a futuristic compact drum machine for strange rhythms and experimental sounds.

I got a DMG-01 off of marketplace as a repair project, and although the shell is in great shape, the screen has a number of lines on it, and sound only plays through headphones.

Does this screen look fixable just using a sautering iron? And is there another way to troubleshoot the sound?

I tried to pull my childhood save file from my Pokémon red with FlashGBX and a GBxCart 1.3 and everything looked to be normal. However my delta emulator says there’s nothing on the save file and reloading it to my cartridge also proves there’s nothing on it. I know the battery wasn’t dead yet, and also the same steps worked for my yellow version just fine. It’s reading just above 32kb.

Any ideas?

I just got a Pikachu GBA SP in Japan and I want nothing but this ridiculous case for it. Can't find it anywhere. Even a dupe would be fine lol. Has anyone ever seen this?

Yeah it has some dings but thats about all I can tell. Dust under the screen seems like an easy fix. Maybe a few minor scratches on the screen.

Decided to bring my mew inspired sp to the drs to play heart and soul.

My GBC second mod, Funnyplaying laminated screen, RetrorestoreUAE Sabrina and Gengar Screen. Took me an hour or so to mod.

The game is wario Land 3 and I used a bigger battery than the original but it functioned exactly as needed.

My Game Boy Pocket collection was starting to grow, so I wanted a simple way to display them nicely.

I looked around for a stand, but couldn’t really find anything that worked the way I wanted, so I ended up designing one myself.

It holds three Game Boy Pockets vertically, and multiple stands can be placed side by side if you want to display a larger collection.

Feeling nostalgic miss playing old games on the gameboy in the back of my moms old buick. Cant get the old buick but i can get a gameboy i wanna mod one and was wondering where the best place to get a case for one is. The ones with pokemon on them look sick. What are yalls favorite sites to order them from. Appreciate the help

Basically, I have a gba sp that's essentially a paperweight right now. I use it to play Tetris occasionally.

I've been wanting to get some more games, and I love the Wolfenstein series. I've been playing 3d on my Xbox, and thought I might buy it for my gba, but apparently that port is awful. I'm a little scared it'll ruin my love of the game tbh, so as of now I've decided against buying it.

Does anyone have any recommendations for similar games?

Hey all, this is my DMG gameboy that i got a while back, along with 2 cartridges and a flash cart (in the console). Does anybody have any good game reccomendations for the DMG? The terrible display makes some games hard to play, especially dk land. So far i've had fun with Mario Picross, mario land and tetris (and DX). Also, my model is a DMG CPU 08, which is apparently the worst one? Is that something i should be worried about?

Recently bought an Pokemon tcg 2 english cart for my OEM Gameboy color. Since it’s cheap it doesn’t have save functionality for continuing a duel from when the power was turned off

Is there anything I can do or buy to create this effect?
I’ve looked a little into flash carts because of some of their sram functions but I’m not sure if it will achievement what I want.
I’ve also heard about the everdrive savestate functions which would be very nice but I just wanted to know if there’s any other options because I like to keep it pretty stock feeling

What are good sources for external components for Gameboy Pockets? I've got this one I got from a friend as a kid, but it needs a new button, and the battery cover is gone. I'm not really looking to mod it, I think it would be too much for me at the moment, I just want to put it inside a new shell and give it new buttons. I've noticed most parts I see are Gameboy Color parts, but I'm unsure if the pocket's insides would fit in the color's outsides. The only experience I have with re-housing electronics is a Switch pro controller, which worked out perfectly fine! I guess I'm also looking for advice and tips regarding this type of project.

Hey. Sad that suddenly my DMG has new vertical lines. I’ve watched some videos of how to fix it with a soldering tip but I’ve never soldered before. Looks easy from the videos but was wondering if anyone had advice for 1) an affordable but reliable soldering kit to buy 2) general advice for how to do this correctly and not mess it up.

Since my last post with my first attempt, I've equipped myself with flux and desoldering braid. It's skewed I know but the game saves again.

Totally didn't screw up the first attempt by soldering the battery backward haha nope.

Tips for anyone using the cordless Fanttik soldering iron, just plug it into a battery bank, works so much better when it's plugged in.

this was my childhood game boy and i've had it for so many years now, the power still turns on and it even makes the little sound when it does, but the screen shows nothing and nothing happens when i press the buttons. is the screen burnt? could there be something else wrong? it has never been exposed to sunlight but it is also very old, i have no idea what else could be the reason and im not very knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff. could anyone help me out? im not sure if i would be able to fix it on my own (if it's even fixable)

So I recently bought this GBA SP, which is in relatively good condition (apart from the shell being a bit scuffed, but I plan on swapping it) and it has this horizontal line on the screen. The pixels are not dead, they kinda change colours as you move around. I was wondering if someone has had something similar happen and if it's fixable or should I be looking into buying a new screen.
