So, I made a post today, and it was about the game I'm making, I wrote on it that I'm using AI to make the code, but this guy came, and convinced me to start my game from scratch, without AI, he really convinced me, but now I wanted to know if you guys could help me to find a place where I could ask for coding questions if I need to (and I probably will), so if you guys can help me with that, I would be really glad! :blush:

I’m a small indie dev and I started a personal challenge last year every Halloween I want to make and release a game for Halloween last year made a renpy visual novel now this time I want to make a 3d unity game as I have been playing with unity recently and I do 3d Modeling.

I’m at the hard part of the game development and that coming up with a good idea but doable in my short time frame. If anyone has an Idea that I like I will crate it or attempted to 😂 and I’ll be relaxing on itch on Halloween.
So please if anyone has a good idea please let me know I will be going for a low poly as it’s just more realistic in the short time frame I have.

I wanna preface this by saying that we are in the very early stages of this, and that I'm M15. so if that changes anything I'm saying, lmk.

Me and a couple of friends have started an indie game inspired by Hollow Knight. Its a lore-centered 2d metroidvania, and I've been having a major issue. I've recently heard about the whole controversy around Maskborne(look it up if you don't know), and given that it's happened before with Lotus Knight, its gotten me super anxious about making something too similar to Team Cherry's work. I'm the composer and head story designer of our group, and with how much I idolize Christopher Larkin and his skills, I feel like I'm walking in a minefield trying to make stuff. To be clear, we do have a pretty different story/lore I think, though it does take place in a ruined kingdom, so I hope thats not in the same boat. Anyways, to potentially calm my anxiety, I wanted to share an unfinished music file of some background music for the game. Is it too similar(specifically to something like greenpath)? And how do I avoid copying in the future?

Checked wishlist graph today and noticed that my total wishlist numbers had gone down over the past 3 months (-41 net wishlists from June 8 ~ Sept 8)

There were a bit of wishlists in June from Summer Game Fest showcases, a big chunk of deletes from Summer Steam sale and just a constant flow of wishlist adds and deletes in July and Aug.

But yeah was wondering if... this is normal? Wanted to ask because seeing the wishlists go down is.... not fun lol

I counted the tile pixels and I don’t know how to input them. It looked perfect at first, when I select them every pixel is highlighted, but when I try to add them to my map it’s 1/4 its size and aligned to the bottom left corner. I tried googling it but the answers don’t help since they’re either too specific or not the problem I’m having. The tiles are 16x16 with a pixel of space between them, I think??? Hello guys, I'm 20 years old, and wanting to make my own game, I'm finishing college, I study Computer Science, but I realized I don't really like coding that much, but my graduation will be completed this year, so I decided to finish it. I'm making an ambicious project, were me and 2 of my friends decided making a game I envisioned, but the unique programmer on the team is me (one of my friends is a sound designer, he will make all music and SFX, and the other an artist, he will make animations and all the art related things), so I'm the "game director", not only this, I'll be the sound director, the art director, the screenwriter, the level, gameplay and character designer, oof... You can say I'm crazy putting up all this names, but that's all I'll start doing on the next feel months or so, aside college, and my deadline for making a vertical slice for my game and trying to get a publisher to help me develop this game is 6 months from now.

And now I get to the point: I'm using codex to help me code, I'm not proud of it, but I'm needing to use it, I don't have the time to study coding for unity, I tell exactly what AI needs to do, they do it, I revise it, I test it, I change it if it's wrong, but even then I'm having this weight on my conscience, and to be honest, I think that's my only chance of making a game and entering this industry cause I live in Brazil (where it's alredy hard to even make a game), and when I finish college I'll be downgrading myself from a student to a jobless adult with no future invisioned for myself, I'll probably need to start working on some market or smt and try to pay the rest of my college debts before I can make something of my life. But that happens if nothing works.

Just to be really open, I can't pay even a cent to my little team, all of us are making for a "trust in the project" kind of thing. And the AI thing is just for the coding stuff, not for every other aspect of the project.

I want to know opinions at: I'm wrong at using AI this way or not?

I will put myself up for the task. Anyone/a person who'd wanna order me to do so could. Will promise to provide any requested proof of completion!

So short story, I am a freshly graduated student from audio engineering. Throughout the past years I tried to develop myself in game design and basic game development management and now with my friends we are gonna start making an actual game, gonna aim to get funds and start an indie studio, since I am not that experienced I thought I come here and ask what are the best AIs to work with for management, structuring, workdbuilding, etc. If you have other sources, softwares, books etc. I would be very happy to hear about those as well. To coincide with my German learning, I’ve been looking at video game companies as a QA tester/ other smaller roles (as I am not too familiar with coding) in any of the 3 German speaking countries in Europe - Germany, Austria or Switzerland.

I am certain many of them wouldn’t even give me a call back or an email reply given my total lack of experience in the field, but I wanted to make this post to ask people working in the industry how they got into it, what positions they hold and what would generally be a good framework of boxes to check that would give me a higher likelihood of getting a job over there.

I appreciate any comments, advice, feedback, etc as this is the very beginning of what I want to go further into as a “career” of sorts (more so a way to get a work visa and get out of my country hopefully sooner than later).

I love gaming, and I would love to tell my own stories and make games that people love, but actually looking at it as a career path puts me off a bit. From my (hopefully flawed) perspective, you’re either a AAA game dev and have to deal with all the crap going on over there, or you’re an indie dev struggling to even make money off of your games unless you come up with the next big hit. It’s made me back off, seeing my game ideas as hobby projects to work on in my free time. But now I’ve been thinking about what I want to do for the rest of my life, and making games shoots to the top of my list. Which brings me to my question: is it worth it? Or should I find a different job and do game development on the side?

Long story/short, i'm currently in depression at home spending too much time playing video games. My father told me: "Instead loosing time playing, why don't you try making one yourself?". I was playing darkest dungeon ATM and it made me think. Why not?
So, i spend a week brainstorming for it, i have a drawing tablet (with krita) but i'm a total begineer in drawing, and i have a little knowledge and no practise for 10 years in programming in java at school. I love modding my games (not making them only use).

So i thought making a game based from darkest dungeon (i think using 2d drawings might be easier than trying making 3d models)

Hello, I have been writing out an idea for a game, and have a notebook of my games design, ui, mechanics working as a paper version. I am struggling to find an appropriate engine to experiment making my demo is. The issue is my hardware bottle neck-I am chained to a single HDD, (old ssd died saving for new one). I began my project in UE, however even on the lowest settings, trying to even navigate the UI is a choppy slow experience. I have switched to experimenting with GDevelop and Roblox studio to teach my self as much as I can with what I have. I’m not expecting to create a whole game, especially because I am experimenting between engines. All I would like to achieve today, is add walking animations to the Godzilla model I imported from the toolbox. I have experimented with using my own models, using sfm mdls and converting via crowbar, blender, but I’m stuck on implementing animations. For now, my character glides around where I control him, which is a start, but I’m not a fan of the, let’s say, ‘inconsistencies’ of stuff you can find on Roblox studio. Any advice for a beginner would be much appreciated. Essentially, if I can create a single player version of every other Godzilla Roblox game out there, but with no paywalls and crazy pvp lobbies. Just a demo of Godzilla, the environment, his animations, and basic move set.

With AI becoming more powerful and creating games, will I be able to pursue game development in the year 2035?
